#8 Houston (2-0) @ Ole Miss (2-0)
1st Quarter
On the opening drive, Ole Miss looked strong after converting on 3rd & long. However, after failing to convert on their next third down try, they were forced to punt. Houston found themselves stuck in a 3rd & 19 position quickly, but Casey Barrow solved the problem by finding WR Bud Hartman for a 48 yard pass. They then completed the drive and ended it with a 22 yard pass to WR AJ Tucker. Ole Miss made a big mistake on their next possession and CB DeMarco Collins intercepted the ball and returned it 45 yardss for the touchdown. The Cougars found themselves with a 14-0 lead just as the first quarter was drawing to a close.
2nd Quarter
Early in the second, Ole Miss got on the board with a long touchdown pass to come within 7. Houston then responded with a very time-consuming drive. With just about thirty seconds left, Casey Barrow found Bud Hartman again-- this time for a 6 yard touchdown. The extra point was hooked and that kept it to just 20-3.
3rd Quarter
The defensive action began here. Both defenses stepped it up tremendously in the second half, which resulted in few successful drives for the respective offenses. Near the end of the quarter, however, Houston managed to make it 23-7 with a 26-yard field goal from K McClure.
4th Quarter
Again, defense persisted. Neither team went anywhere in the quarter. It was quite something.
FINAL: Houston defeats Ole Miss 23-7.
