    WOWZA!

    Great win over Iowa dude.

    Keep it up.
    Blind to this impending fate
We let the world carry our weight
It's back breaks with every mile
But we all live in denial

                  Fairfield   27   24-51
        #25 Michigan   40   42-82

After the blood-letting in Iowa, the Wolverines played their final non-conference game of the season, a home game against the Fairfield Stags of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

For about 10 minutes, the Stags and the Wolverines slugged it out, trading baskets on nearly every possession. But eventually Michigan's talent crushed poor little Fairfield, and they led 40-27 at half. It got uglier in the second half, as Michigan dealt out 28 assists and had 12 fast break points, senselessly slaughtering Fairfield, 82-51.

        Player of the Game

Daniel Horton: 17 points, 15 assists, 4 steals

        MICHIGAN WOLVERINES
        Dion Harris: 21 points
Brent Petway: 12 points, 5 rebounds
Lester Abram: 8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals
        J.C. Mathis: 8 points, 6 rebounds

        FAIRFIELD STAGS
Terrence Todd: 22 points, 7 assists
Deng Gai: 10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists

                    Northwestern   33   25-58
                    #17 Michigan   41   29-70

The Wolverines are on a mission to restore glory to their basketball program, and they were off to a sparkling start this season as they hosted Northwestern in their Big Ten home opener.

Daniel Horton got into early foul trouble and it was obvious, as Northwestern out-assisted UM 20-14, and the Wolverines only had 2 fast break points all game. Still, the 17th-ranked Wolverines were too strong, and kept Northwestern at bay all day, ultimately prevailing 70-58.

                    Player of the Game
Lester Abram: 24 points, 4 rebounds

...Let's just say Penn State's basketball team doesn't have NEARLY the tradition that its football team does.

Meanwhile, the Wolverines continued to assert themselves as a serious contender in the Big Ten, as they stormed Happy Valley and never led up, as their defense held PSU to 31% shooting, and Daniel Horton had his second triple-double of the season as UM destroyed the Nittany Lions, 65-31.
