Re: Denver A.M.
With the second pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select Tobi Barimah, cornerback, BYU.
If Osweiler is going to get competition, it's not going to come from a first round pick. Corner was definitely a position of need for the Bengals- one does not want to have Ron Bartell as one of one's starting corners.Comment

Re: Denver A.M.
With the 3rd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select Delray Taimani, running back, East Carolina.
This pick is roundly booed by Jets fans in attendance, and rightly so? While it's true the Jets could stand to upgrade their backfield, who takes a running back with the 3rd overall pick? That's so 2005.Comment

I wish I could triple-like that last quote. Perfect.
Good job so far, and following.Comment

The San Diego Chargers are on the clock...
Philip Rivers has a few years of playing time left, but in what capacity? He's one reason the Chargers are picking 4th (58.9 rating, 11 TD, 17 INT) and he has only one year remaining on his contract. But Elway does not want to make a trade that will benefit a division rival. Is that cutting off his nose to spite his face?Comment

Re: Denver A.M.
With the 4th pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the San Diego Chargers select Wade Hancock, QB, Kansas.
The New England Patriots are on the clock...
Looks like Rivers is going to be a former Charger in 2017. Or sooner.
Sweat pumps are now on full bore in the Broncos draft room after this unexpected (wishful thinking?) selection. The Patriots dumped Alex Smith after going 4-12 in their first post-Brady season and with Brandon Weeden being the "best" QB their roster. they're certainly in the market for one. Elway is on the phone...Comment

With the 5th pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the New England Patriots select Luis Ruiz, outside linebacker, Boston College.
Does the Hoodie know something good about one of the QB's projected outside the first round? He does know a little something about succeeding with a lower-round guy. With their pick the Pats gets a defensive playmaker who also happens to be a local hero.Comment

The Tennessee Titans are now on the clock...
The Titans have Andy Dalton, backed up by 2015 pick Barry Chapman, who could overtake Dalton sooner or later. They're not a threat to take a QB, but they're a threat to trade the pick to another QB-needy team. Elway makes the call.Comment

Re: Denver A.M.
With the sixth pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans select Travis Gavin, offensive tackle, Washington.
The most technically sound offensive lineman in the class, Gavin will put David Stewart into a backup role or push him off the roster. Chances are he becomes the leagues next great right tackle.Comment

Re: Denver A.M.
The San Francisco 49ers are on the clock.
This is a pick acquired via trade. The Niners would still have two first round picks if they trade with the Broncos, and they'll have two next year as well. Elway calls San Francisco GM Trent Baalke.
"Hey Trent. John Elway."
"Yes, John."
"That sounded like a statement and not a question."
"It was. The answer is yes. The offer is 1-3-1, correct?
"Its is."
"Then we have a deal."Comment
