Thought I needed to advance a week and inadvertently simmed the preseason Week 2 game against the Browns, then saved the chise before I realized what I had done, so I couldn't back out, reload the chise, and play the game. Like they say, "it's only preseason." The sim engine gave the Broncos a 10-7 win with the team's touchdown being scored by rookie RB Exavier Shade. We had two injuries, backup MLB Nate Irving with a shoulder for 3 weeks and guard Kasey Studdard with an elbow for 1 week.

                  Broncos Sign Mohamed Sanu

Former Bengal WR Mohamed Sanu is the newest member of
                  the Broncos.

With second round draft pick DeVonte Stump expected to miss at least the first month of the regular season due to a broken collarbone sustained in the preseason opener against the Bears, the Denver Broncos have bolstered their receiver depth the the signing of former Cincinnati Bengal Mohamed Sanu to a one year contract. A third round pick in 2012, Sanu has had at least 49 catches in each of the last three seasons. His most productive year was 2014, when he caught 64 passes for 828 yards and 4 touchdowns. Stump had been penciled in as the Broncos’ slot receiver, but may be finding himself 4th on the depth chart when he returns to action. In connection with the acquisition, the Broncos released third-year OLB Kristoff Mosley and 7th round pick Nick Efird.

Niners Deal Broncos First Loss Of Exhibition

A Zac Dysert red zone interception killed a Denver rally that might have kept the Broncos unbeaten in preseason play, dooming them to a loss to the trade partner that made it possible to draft rookie QB Zac Piper, the San Francisco 49ers. The pick came late in the game, and after making a first down, the Niners were able to run out the clock with kneel-downs by Tarvaris Jackson. It should have been Jake Locker in at QB for the Broncos in that ill-fated series, but Locker only lasted two plays, on both of which he scrambled, suffering a shoulder bruise and losing a fumble on the latter. In three quarters of action, Piper went 20-of-33 for 224 yards and threw his first interception, but his stat line should have been better. During Piper’s stint, Denver receivers had 9 drops, including 4 by Alshon Jeffery, which kept Jeffery from having a 10-catch game. In a postgame interview, center Joe Madsen related that when Jefferey returned to the huddle after the third drop, Piper said in a baby voice, “Aww, 'Shon, did him bweak his wil finger?” “I like that. I like seeing a rookie get after the guy who’s supposedly going to be his number one target when he drops one he should have caught,” said Madsen.

Piper Breaks Toe, Jags Maul Broncos

The official NFL debut of Denver Broncos rookie quarterback will not come until at least October- if the starting job is still his by then- thanks to a broken toe sustained on a sack by Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Braddie Inglesi. And adding insult to injury, the Jags thumped the Broncos as if they had an ax to grind over last January’s playoff loss to Denver. After Jake Locker’s 5 yard touchdown pass to Mohamed Sanu gave the Broncos a 14-10 lead, the Jaguars scored the game’s next 38 points on the way to a 48-21 win.
