Hey, Deuce. Haven't seen you and Coach Dezaron around these parts in quite a while. Glad to see you're still keeping on. I'm sure there's plenty of board space for you to resume your GSU/BSU story.

By the way, it was a 42-30 Wyoming win this year over Boise State.

Great to hear from you man.

        2021g11: Idaho @ #14 Wyoming

The Vandals continue to tear Wyoming's defense a new one as poor Justin Bryant (#35) can attest

LARAMIE, Wyo. -- One would assume that a very good Wyoming team would come out on fire after an embarrassing home loss to a conference rival last week. One might think that this team would get really charged up for Senior Day. One might predict this Wyoming team would have bad thoughts on their minds after getting clobbered by three TDs as the #3-ranked team in the nation.

Nah. No to all of that. Instead, this Wyoming team turtled and allowed a substandard Idaho squad to abuse and dominate them on their own grass. This was a complete *** kicking, a 55-16 type of annihilation.

To give a little flavor for just how abysmally this game went for Wyoming's offense, the Pokes were being shutout until there was 2:24 left in the first half. This team entered the game scoring 40 PPG (#4) this season and brought in the #3 yardage offense in the nation. Heck, even when getting destroyed by Hawai'i last week, they put 45 points on the board. Not today. That Vandal defense and all its highly sought after 1* and 2* recruits, tho.

Wyoming's 1st drive was two rushes for a loss followed by a Terry Brooks INT. On drive #2, Wyoming turned the ball over on downs at Idaho's 43-yard-line. On their 3rd drive, the Pokes went 3-and-out. Drive number 4 resulted in a 1st down, then a punt. Drive #5 culminated in another punt, due to a 3rd down drop. The 6th drive burned down, then fell over, and then sank into the swamp. But the 7th one...it stayed up! And that's what you're getting laddy, the strongest drive in these 'ere isles! Finally backup QB Darrin Green connected with TE Tristan Hardin on a 10-yard TD pass to provide WYO's only offensive score of the game. Ouch.

Once again, Coach Bohl had a quick hook for the starting QB and inserted Green in the hopes of providing a spark. But, it backfired spectacularly in a way that totally puts any QB controversy to rest. Green had a miserable game, most of which came in desperation time, but still; the dual threat sophomore completed 8/21 (38%) for 68 yards and one TD vs three costly INTs (52.4 QB rating). Green's QBR is one of the worst single game marks in the Coach Bohl era. Just really bad. He also rushed nine times for 44 yards (4.8 YPC) with a lost fumble. It figures to be Brooks as the starter going forward. The junior pocket passer finished 11/20 (55%) for 96 yards and one INT (85.3 QB rating). This normally solid duo cost Wyoming five turnovers altogether.

The Vandals held a 31-8 lead at the half. Things were looking up momentarily for Wyoming when Tory McCollum picked Idaho QB Luke Roach off and went the distance for a 96-yard pick six. It was 31-16 after a two-point conversion. Wyoming would get no closer. Things got way more depressing and Idaho scored the final 24 points of the game and never stopped pressing down on the gas pedal. The Vandals were still hurrying up and going air raid style in a 52-16 game in the 4th quarter. Coach Bohl just has to file this one away...But, perhaps most depressing was that this loss marked the first loss while wearing gold home alternate uniforms in this dynasty.

The Wyoming offense was anemic. The tight end dropped four passes while making just one catch. The run blocking was very bad for a second straight game. Weldon Adler carried 15 times for 33 yards (2.2 YPC). Kelvin Mack Jr. rushed seven times for 19 yards (2.7 YPC). Something is not right here. Has not using a backup offensive lineman as the FB anymore and starting LG Kurtis McCann being out hurt made that much of a difference?

On the visiting side, the Vandals were all about Luke Roach. Perhaps not that surprising. Roach went bonkers last year in a game where Idaho blew out Wyoming 59-38. Oh God, does Idaho have a winning streak against Coach Bohl?

In this year's game, Roach may have been even better. He completed 39/54 (72%) for 514 yards and six TDs against one INT (185.1 QB rating). Roach hit on five deep passes of over 20 yards. Senior tight end Joel Lambert caught 13 balls for 154 yards and a TD; senior WR Scott Edwards made five catches for 124 yards and two TDs; WR Keith Reynolds caught seven for 91 yards and a TD; running back J.J. Reid made five catches for 84 yards and a TD.

MLB Cedric Farmer had a decent game for the Pokes with 13 tackles, but he misses doing battle with run-dominant teams like Air Force. Instead he's been watching passes sail over his head as his secondary gets disemboweled game after game. Farmer also wonders why his coach hasn't burned the redshirt on their heralded true freshman free safety in an attempt to shore up this abominable pass defense. Coach? Anyone home, Coach? 74-OVR Noah Myers, Coach? You don't want him to transfer out, do you Coach?

Wow, even in big losses you usually keep the yardage close, but that wasn't the case in this one. Tough couple of weekends for coach Bohl. Got to right the ship sooner than later.

Yes. Something is rotten in Denmark. Gotta fix this or it will turn a promising 9-0 start into poo.

Was nearly outgained by 400 yards. That game is probably the single biggest *** kicking I've taken in this dynasty. Got dominated pretty hard by Oregon way back in year 1 and Arizona in the bowl game 2 years ago, but it's rare that both my offense and defense are completely butchered at the same time.

Maybe getting out of Laramie will do this squad some good. Heading to Provo next before the MWC conference championship game berth that's already clinched for Wyoming despite some weak play lately.

No slider changes at all. But I have gone back and forth on if I allow the "aggressive blocking" in-game adjustment or not. I haven't been using it the last few games just in case it contributes to an overpowered run game. Originally I was using it from time to time in the hopes of getting some more holding penalties. I don't think this is the whole issue though because I have had plenty of solid rushing games with the adjustment set at normal in the past. A lot of it is just game flow and one thing leading to another, which can get my playcalling out of whack at times. That leads to a feedback cycle where I get more and more desperate and more and more one-dimensional...a vicious cycle.

Needless to say, games against Hawai'i and Idaho are going to be circled in blood red ink next season.

                      2021g12: Wyoming @ BYU

Wyoming WR Todd Bennett (#87) makes a circus catch for a TD

PROVO, Utah -- Apparently prosperity was too difficult for Coach Bohl's team to handle. After rising to #3 in the BCS rankings, the Pokes dropped a pair of home games to the likes of Hawai'i and Idaho by a combined 121-61 score. Now unranked again, Coach Bohl's Pokes are looking like their usual selves a bit more.

For one, Wyoming remembered how to run the ****-a-doodie football. Weldon Adler stepped back to the plate with a workhorse-like 34 carries for 142 yards (4.1 YPC) and three rushing TDs. Not a far cry from what he did last year against BYU: 32 carries for 194 yards and four TDs. Adler also became the school rushing leader when he passed Devin Moore ('05-'08) with 2,963 career rushing yards. Pretty impressive for Adler, who has been the starting halfback for only two years. Kelvin Mack Jr. inched closer to 1,000 yards rushing this season himself with 14 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown. Wyoming ran the ball 59 times compared to 25 pass attempts.

Stop me if you've heard this before, but QB Terry Brooks didn't finish the game. This time it was injury rather than ineffectiveness. Brooks left with elbow bursitis in the 3rd quarter. Wyoming was up 14-10 when Brooks left, but went on a 21-8 run thereafter. Brooks was just ok: 7/12 (58%) 82 yards (115.7 QB rating) and continues to lose ground to challenger Darrin Green.

After a miserable time against Idaho, Green came on and looked phenomenal. He completed 12/13 (92%) for 139 yards and a TD (207.5 QB rating). Green now owns one of the best single-game QBRs as well as one of the worst in this dynasty. He chipped in eleven carries for 63 yards (5.7 YPC).

The Wyoming defense only gave up 18 points after giving up 66 and 55 points in consecutive weeks. Partly because they were heavily protected by the offense. BYU only possessed the golden plates for 7:36 of game time and still amassed 375 yards of total offense. It was hardly a statement performance for Coach Bohl's defense, but sometimes a grind-it-out offense is the best defense.

BYU's offense revolved around redshirt sophomore QB Paris Hamby and junior HB Tom Black. Hamby is an 84-OVR 5'11" pocket passer from Sacramento; he completed 19/30 (63%) for 294 yards and an INT (138.9 QB rating). Hamby connected on four passes of 20+ yards with a long pass of 46 yards and a long rush of 41 yards. Black carried twelve times for 46 yards (3.8 YPC) and two TDs.

MLB Cedric Farmer made six tackles and swatted down a pass. Meh. B to the ware?

Defense is still looking shaky. 375 total offense under 8 minutes is concerning. Think it might be time to hand the baton from Brooks to Green. See what he can do with a full game. Hopefully Adler can stay around now for you and pound that rock. Maybe the pressure of being a top ranked school got to them.lol

                          Nice turn around though WTNY.

I agree. Too much success can be a bad thing. This team didn't handle it very well. Too much whispering about the BCS title game probably...

The QB job next year is definitely starting to get away from 'ol Terry Brooks. He might be backing up Darrin Green.

Welp, definitely faltered a bit down the stretch, but still have the chance to salvage things and get a 12-win season! After the hot start and the win over Clemson, that may be a letdown, but I'm sure if someone had told you you could finish 12-2 with a conference title and bowl win at the start of the season, you would take that in a heartbeat!
