Looks like you've got some talent in a few places and not much depth. Looking forward to starting our season at about the same time. Should be fun!

When you get bowl eligible this season, I expect you to bring a Niagara bowling ball into the locker room like Lovie Smith for Illinois.

And to also immediately install a bowling alley into your athletic center and create a bowling team for Niagara.

I've loved reading this and now I'm all caught up for season 2, can't wait!

As always, thanks for all the kind words guys!

I got the first game in last night, but didn't have time to write it up... and probably have a little more pre-season loose ends to tie up, like the top-25 list and such. Once today's Michigan-Michigan State game is over, I'll try to get it done. But now that it's halftime... I'll make a little impromptu Nunyer's Notes entry....

            Niagara and the Beefy Arms
I'm not sure if it's some glitch in the game or the guy that originally made this team had a fetish for beefy arms... but a lot of guys on this team look like Trogdor the Burninator. I prefer the latter explanation as I find it more humorous... but I think it's just a glitch. Take a look at my kicker, arm build is zero, but damn his upper arms are thicker than his thighs!

When you say a lot, does that mean like five players or almost the entire time. If like 5 players, it's probably a glitch. If it's the entire team, definitely a beefy arm fetish.

Re: Niagara Rhinos: An Alternate Universe NCAA 14 Dynasty

I'm pretty sure it's just a glitch... but it was five or six guys. Most of those are gone... there was backup QB Fordinal who 'transferred', but I think you can catch a glimpse of the beefy bicep in a screenshot from the game article where he started. Bart Iorg and Warren Dockery who graduated... and I think a couple of others where I was able to do an edit and actually have it take effect. With Gallup, he looks the same no matter what I do with the appearance sliders.

Just realized that I forgot to capture the preseason top 25, so here it is after week 1. (No spoilers, as whether Niagara won or lost this week, we didn't crack the top 25. A shocking miscarriage of justice!) Also, what's the deal with all the "O" schools in the top 5? Niagara is in "O"ntario.... maybe I should rename the team?

Well I can see now why you are struggling to find a #2 RB. There is a big drop off after Holly in terms of overall talent.

Palinski looks like a beast. If you evened out the awareness he'd probably be 3 points higher than Bogan. I hope you're starting him!

Also I gave my star WR recruit #9 too!

The weird thing with Holly is that he has always played under his OVR. I can't explain it. In the Rhinos dynasty I did offline before resetting for this thread, he was the #1 in OVR both years but lost the starting gig to Browning in year one and to a recruit in year two. I don't get it... my explanation is my tin foil hat theory about hidden attributes... but he always seems a step slower then he should be, failing to fall forward for his strength and trucking, getting worse blocking from the line, it's just bizarre. Anyways, working on the game write up now, should be posted sometime soon.

CORRECTION: Clancy O'Shaughnessy did not score a TD on his 1-yard rush. That should read "0"

                              Nunyer's Notes

That was a fun game to play... I did get a little lucky on offense, managed to avoid committing any turnovers, but ULM did drop at least two easy interception and got the swat animation on a couple others that could have been the catch animation. Whitehead got a pretty insane progression boost from the CPU and nailed the best possible dice roll possible for his low-ish work ethic. He is my Danny Amendola / Wayne Chrebet guy that I just lead into horrific hits over the middle and he somehow holds on.

I just realized I somehow forgot to mention the longest run in Rhinos history. After failing to register a 20+ rush all of last season, Palinski kept on a read option, made a nice cut and went 57 yards! I don't typically run the read option, might have called it for Bogan 4 or 5 times all last year. I don't think it will be a regular fixture of the offense, but might bust it out as a change of pace once or twice a game to try to spring Palinski's elusiveness into the 2nd level. Ty Welsh is shifty, but fingertip tackles bring him down, let alone arm tackles. I can't really concentrate on offense with this recruiting class, but at some point I'll need to land a true workhorse.

On defense... I always suck against triple option teams. This game was no exception. Turning the defensive adjustment setting for option to "aggressive" just seems to tell the QB to give it to the FB every snap... and their fullback looked like the love child of Marshawn Lynch and Larry Csonka. So I quickly went back to normal and just tried my best to slow them down on the edges.

(I have 'borrowed' or 'been inspired' by Hellisan's presentation aspects from his JD Clark Dynasty thread, and this preview layout is no exception)
