If you haven’t tried it before, having fatigue off will certainly help with the CPU drop off, and it will also feel like a completely new game. It makes the CPU play super tough the entire time. Sometimes it’s frustrating, but I like how I have to be on my A-game if I want to win week in and week out.

I used to use Jkits sliders, but found that the run game will always wear out the CPU eventually. But now CPU run defense is refreshing with fatigue off. I truly have to mix it up!

Mack Truck at FB was a beast. Also Riley Quick at WB on the Champs team.

Man I loved that game. Fast Break, Jordan vs Bird, the Streetsports series, the Summer/Winter/California Games and of course my other all time favorite Hardball.

Like you I had spiral notebooks full of stats.

Those were the days. I played mine pretty much all through High school. A couple buddies had a Nintendo but my first game system was a Sega Genesis I bought when I went to college
4th and Inches was the main football game until one of us got the first John Madden Football in '89... then the popular houses for fictional sports leagues shifted from the C64 owners to the IBM owners. (there was eventually a C64 port for the original Madden, but it sucked compared to the PC). We ran leagues in that game for years after it was totally obsolete. Two of my friends held on to their ancient IBM XTs and ATs just for Madden purposes... in fact I think my one friend still has his in a closet somewhere... waiting for the day when a bunch of fortysomethings come back together to resurrect the old Madden Bowl League.

I turned fatigue off in my first run with the Rhinos... but it was 4-5 seasons in when I had built up a 93 OVR team. I personally didn't notice a huge difference, but I think a lot of settings/sliders have less impact as player skill improves. I'm hoping it helps more with mid major type talent levels. I've also been tweaking the sliders here and there... and what I'm using now feels fantastic during the 1st half of games... so hoping fatigue off helps as well.

Dr. Schreibman was a placekicker for Niagara for three seasons starting in 1990. He is still the Rhinos all time leading scorer and has been widely recognized across southern Ontario as a Niagara Rhino superfan. His views do not necessarily express those of Niagara University.

Dr. Irv is back in the house! Here with some insider news and rumors on our favorite Canadian football team...

            Malcolm Holly update!
If you are a Rhinos superfan like I am... well, your butthole puckered up as soon as you saw Holly go down and grab for his left knee. After a disappointing junior year, he worked hard in the offseason and had clearly earned the starting HB job over highly hyped recruit Ty Welsh. Holly did break the 1,000 yard mark for the season before going down to go along with 13 rushing touchdowns.

So what's the inside scoop on the injury itself? The bad news is that he is likely out the rest of the regular season. The good news is that there is not any tears in the knee. My sources tell me that it's a MCL sprain and that Malcolm could potentially be ready for the Rhinos first ever NCAA bowl game.

            Speaking of bowl games...
Most experts are projecting the Rhinos to get an invite to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, with New Mexico or Utah State out of the Mountain West being the two most likely opponents. If the Rhinos manage to win the MAC, then they would likely stay nearer to home... playing in Detroit as the MAC representative of the Little Caesar's Bowl.

            Other injury news
The shoulder injury to RT Ronald Noble (69 OVR) will likely not require surgery. Team insiders say that he will almost surely miss next week's game against Ball State but could potentially return for the season finale against Eastern Michigan. Reserve junior Masox Cox (63 OVR) is listed as a guard on the official team roster, but he finished the Toledo game in Noble's place and had a decent performance. He is the likely starter next week.

Ty Welsh lost a fumble on a brutal hit and left the game for a quarter. He was able to return and played well, but there are concerns over his durability and ball security if he was thrust into a starting role. The coaching staff does not seem to consider him a workhorse. Deep reserves Braylon Burns and Eric Pruitt haven't been consistently dressed on game days, but both were shown a lot of first team snaps in practice this week. My insiders tell me that Ty Welsh and Marlon Childs will each share 40% of the carries with Burns, Pruitt and O'Shaughnessy in the mix for what's left.

Tough loss, but I would love to see the Rhinos on the Blue turf. Bummer about Holly. Was that a real game injury or a roll of the dice.

Both of today's injuries were dice rolls from preseason. Officially the dice roll made it a three-week injury, so he'll be back to go bowling. I might not be mathematically eliminated yet for the MAC West title... I need to be beat Ball State next week, then they need to travel to Toledo and beat the Rockets the following week... if I have any shot at all, it's only if those two things happen.

As far as the game itself... man I played like crap. Played the last game on sunday or monday, but I was pretty rusty for only 5 days away. Just a bunch of horrible reads along with a ton of 'pushed the wrong button'... I am typically good for 1-2 of those a game, but today it was like 6... I'm starting to get worried.. On the plus side, out of the multi wrong button pushes... one of them actually went for a touchdown. I decided to try and squeeze it into a tight window, as Gibbs had a step between two zone defenders... then once I hit the button I threw a rocket the opposite direction to a wide open Whitehead.

Turning off fatigue definitely seemed to keep the CPU dedicated to the run throughout the game. So I'm going to roll with that for the time being. They were breaking big runs all day, but they had a really solid o-line, so not too surprised. Ball State has similar talent levels, so I expect another tough game before I finish against a pretty bad EMU team.

TEAM MEMO - SENIOR DAY 2014

                    Gentlemen,

Senior Day isn't going to be quite as big of a production as it was last year. We only have two seniors that aren't part of our regular rotations. So, we only have two depth chart changes:

Luke Conley will play the first half at TE.
(On the year, Conley has 1 catch for 19 yards. For his career, 6 catches for 36 yards.)

Nicholas Cade will play the first half as the slot WR.
(No catches yet this season, for his career he has 1 catch for 7 yards.)

In case you've forgotten what class you are in, which wouldn't surprise me on this team, I will list the remaining seniors below. Your service will not be forgotten, until next season when hopefully more talented replacements show up.

                    Love Always,
                    Coach Nonek

                    Offense:

HB - Malcolm Holly (80 OVR)
WR - Brantley Whitehead (79 OVR)
TE - Luke Conley (55 OVR)
                    C - Chip Brant (68 OVR)
                    T - Ronald Noble (68 OVR)

                    Defense:

DT - Anthony Barnett (64 OVR)
LB - Dennis Lake (72 OVR)
LB - Tyrell Hargrove (67 OVR)
LB - Freddie Benson (76 OVR)
FS - Russ Tillman (77 OVR)
FS - Jarod Cooley (72 OVR)
SS - Dabney Britt (74 OVR)

A little preview of the kind of stats you'll see in the upcoming game report / boxscore... Fatigue off has definitely helped the ground game.

Marlon Childs is nominally my HB3, but he gets regular touches every week... Well, he went down with a concussion on his 5th carry (which I didn't mention in the boxscore or the story, because he's HB3)... So I decided to just plug Wormser into the two singleback sets that Childs is normally in... worked out pretty well. Broke a tackle, had a stiff arm or two and generally fell forward.

                                Nunyer's Notes

I just realized I never posted an official Nunyer's Notes for this game... and there was a lot to talk about over the last two games... So, I turned off fatigue... when I did it before, it was with a team in the Big 10 that was in the low 90s for team OVR. It didn't seem to make a huge difference, but in the last two games in the MAC, I can definitely see a difference. The upside is that the CPU plays with authority throughout the game, they don't seem to get passive in the 2nd half. It's a noticeable change of playcalling, they seem to stick with the run and don't have a problem continually taking chances. The problem is that their reserves never see the field and the CPU boxscores start to look a little barren compared to mine, where I will always intentionally mix in bench guys with the formation subs. I guess that's a trade-off I can live with.

The sliders will probably need a bit of a tweak... I had cranked run blocking and RB ability to keep the CPU running game a threat, but without fatigue, they are probably a bit overpowered. I will likely crank down both of those sliders for HUM and CPU. I also experimented with a new slider set that puts pass coverage relatively low, but cranks up the interception slider. So far I like the results, quick underneath routes against man coverage break open a little easier, but the windows close a lot quicker as a lot more "break on the ball" interception animations get triggered. So far I'm liking the changes... but something I will have to keep an eye on as I go forward.

I'll try to get the EMU game in tomorrow sometime, then will have the end of the regular season recruiting updates, top 25 and should know whether or not I am playing for the MAC Championship. I'm not totally sure how the tie breakers work... as Toledo might have the edge no matter what happens in my final game.
