Re: Niagara Rhinos: An Alternate Universe NCAA 14 Dynasty
If they rolled a "bust", which was landing anywhere between 90 and 99 on their work ethic roll, then they earned an additional bust penalty. So the first number represented the first penalty for losing the work ethic roll. That is a penalty from -2 to -8. then the second number was the "bust penalty" which is an additional loss of -2 to -4. Add those two numbers up for the total OVR the player had to drop.
You can see some players only had a single negative number, those are the players that failed the roll against their work ethic rating but did not hit the 90-99 level roll required for the additional bust penalty. So if a player had a work ethic of 65 and rolled a 72, he lost his roll and was going to lose somewhere between 2 and 8 from his OVR, but that 72 was well short of the 90 to 99 needed to trigger the bust penalty.
I hope that makes sense ? ... ? Still not sure if it makes 100% sense to me, but after a few beers last night I got on a roll and it seemed to all work out. lol.Comment

I have never used Photoshop, but I do use the Google free ripoff called Pixlr Editor and to get "super cool" fonts like those I used to use a site called cooltext.com for free fonts.
This is an example of a "cooltext" that I used often. It was bad. Having said that, if you ever need a super cool schedule, I got youCurrent Dynasties

Nunyer's Notes - Practice Session and Playbook changes
(Note: I started typing this up as a Rhinoplasty blog post, but after the first paragraph I just wasn't in the mood to try and present things in character... so instead, just a stream of consciousness lazy dump of info. I'm just going to have a few non-connected paragraphs...)
Ok, after two seasons of primarily the base Run and Shoot playbook, I decided I wanted to change things up... So... I started experimenting with different playbooks. In the end I decided to stick with the SMU Run and Shoot as the base, but did more formation swaps. I found it a lot of fun playing around with shotgun / spread option looks, which I traditionally don't really like, but some of the plays really fit my personnel. Putting Lavette into the slot and having him motion into different sweeps or mid screens or option runs is intriguing... and my new WR3 (Jarred Spicer) is essentially a TE with a 67 STR / 66 RBK / 65 IBL... so getting an option / sweep to Gibbs where Spicer can 1-on-1 block a CB seemed like a natural fit. So, I dropped a couple of pistol formations that I didn't utilize much and added a few different spread/offset shotgun sets.
Speaking a TE blocking... holy hell it didn't quite sink in how much of a blocking beast my new TE is turning out to be (Latimer Iorg). When I went to set my final depth chart, the CPU had him as the primary backup on four of the five OL positions! 79 STR, 74 PBK, 78 RBK, 80 IBL. His 68 CTH isn't mind blowing, but he does have 80 RTE and 79 CIT, so some receiving chops. He can act as a lead blocker in some of the offset shotgun option stuff, so that should be fun.
On defense, I started experimenting with some 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 stuff last season as I had three really good safeties and wanted to get them all on the field. This year, the safety talent is down a bit due to graduations, but still like the looks. Plenty of interesting blitz and coverage looks in 3-3-5 to play with.
As far as surprising defensive players, one of my created prospects who I redshirted last year (DE Benny Torgo) landed a "boom" bonus in offseason progression, which gave him a +8 OVR boost. Nothing about his ratings are outstanding, but he's a good jack-of-all-trades guy... CPU had him as the primary substitute at all three DL spots and 2 of 3 LB spots. Probably not a huge difference maker this year, but it's nice having versatility for the future. I plan on getting him into both DL and LB roles this year via formation substitutions.
Reminder note to future Nunyer if I read this again: Schedule South Alabama next year so you can play against Ty Welsh.Comment

Re: Niagara Rhinos: An Alternate Universe NCAA 14 Dynasty
A quick and dirty Top 25 heading into week 1, because I always seem to forget to do this.
Should have a preview for the Week 2 game against Idaho posted in a bit and will try to get the game in today as well. I recently took on a small side job, so my PS3 time might be limited until the end of the month, but I'll try to get at least a game or two in a week.

Re: Niagara Rhinos: An Alternate Universe NCAA 14 Dynasty
Nunyer's Notes
I was seriously worried at halftime. They were playing much better defense than their ratings, especially with the pass rush... and their QB was running the ball very well. I still have fatigue turned off, so while they faded in the second half, it wasn't a fatigue effect. After they dropped a few easy interceptions in the first half, I decided to go conservative in the 2nd half and really rode the new HB. He is a nice mix between Holly and Welsh from last year, not nearly as quick or nimble as Welsh but with a lot more shake and bake ability than Holly had. Assuming he stays healthy, I'm going to lean on him with probably 80% of the rushing touches, with Childs and Wormser getting the scraps. The gains that Gibbs got via progression is a clear improvement in release and top speed although he had at least one addtional pass which I thought was a drop but wasn't recorded as such.
On defense, Tomlinson was everywhere today... in the backfield a ton. He was the main reason their HB1 didn't do jack squat. Defensive backs didn't play that great and some decent blitz pressure forced a few passes into the stands when receiving options were open.
Overall, happy with the win... but I was expecting having to take it easy on the CPU by midway through the first half and instead it wasn't until early in the 4th quarter where I felt comfortable that I had the game in hand.Comment

Pretty sure I am going to struggle remembering how to spell Kandakai all season, so I am just going to call him Jamal cause that dude ran like him..
Pretty sure you are going to have to give him similar hair.

Re: Niagara Rhinos: An Alternate Universe NCAA 14 Dynasty
Funny you bring up the hair, the last two seasons I tried to give one of my created recruits the dreads and I couldn't find the head anywhere in the player creation options. Is it a set head number? I'm either going crazy, didn't actually scroll through all of them, or it was a glitch. I am guessing maybe it's a glitch... as the guys that I do have on the team with dreads seem to get random 'haircuts' on certain game days only for the hair to be back the next week. So maybe it wasn't loading right in the player creation screen?
Anyways, I likely won't have any PS3 time until tomorrow... so hope to get the MSU game in at that time.Comment
