Good luck shutting down Murray.. He looks like a pretty solid QB.

Re: Niagara Rhinos: An Alternate Universe NCAA 14 Dynasty
Nunyer's Notes
I tried a completely different slider set for this game... and the results were interesting. Ohio was incredibly rush heavy through the first three quarters. I think 9 or 10 of their pass attempts were in the 4th quarter. In the first half, they were just running at will... The new slider set greatly bumped up run block and RB ability, but also greatly bumped tackling as an offset. In the first half and particularly the first quarter, the increase tackling did nothing, big chunk runs all over the place. My first guy to the ball typically made the tackle, it was just after a long gain. Once the fatigue factor set in, things balanced out a bit and the running game wasn't quite as deadly in the 2nd half. I'm probably going to play one more game with these settings before I decide if tweaks are needed... but as of now.. I think the CPU ground game will be strong next week.
On offense, i should have had probably 70-80 more yards in the air, along with two more TDs and one less INT. Two beautiful deep balls were dropped, one by Gibbs and one by Spicer that ended up getting intercepted off the bobble. The roles have completely flipped between Holly and Welsh... with Welsh now seeing a lot of quick block sheds and sluggish acceleration... this game he acted similar to how Holly played last year. As far as Holly, he's giving me Stevie Browning production, so I'm happy.
I'd like to say that I'm confident in winning two of my next six to become bowl eligible... so long as this shaky defense keeps making three stops a game to offset my three interceptions.Comment

Re: Niagara Rhinos: An Alternate Universe NCAA 14 Dynasty
Dr. Schreibman was a placekicker for Niagara for three seasons starting in 1990. He is still the Rhinos all time leading scorer and has been widely recognized across southern Ontario as a Niagara Rhino superfan. His views do not necessarily express those of Niagara University.
Dr. Irv is back in the house! Here with some insider news and rumors on our favorite Canadian football team...
Conrad Palinski is banged up
The coaching staff has remained quiet, keeping Palinski off the official injury report, but my insiders tell me that he is still suffering the effects of a rib cage injury sustained over a month ago. Mickey Bogan has provided capable backup when called upon, completing 5 of 6 pass attempts including a pair of touchdown passes. Rumors are that Bogan may see some time this week to give Palinski occasional breathers. Details remain sketchy, whether he will get a full series or play from a particular formation isn't known. In practice, he seemed to be taking most of his snaps from singleback sets.
Tillman's ankle injury
The official word from the team is that Russ Tillman sprained his ankle during practice this week. He was seen using crutches around campus on Wednesday and the injury could linger beyond this week's matchup against Northern Illinois. According to some sources, Tillman's injury actually took place during a high stakes underground hacky sack tournament but this has not been confirmed. University officials have been trying for years to crack down on illegal hacky sack gambling, which has been an open secret on campus for 20 years.
FLAG-GATE 2014!!!!
Niagara is facing some controversy over the Rhinos Cheerleaders waving the wrong flag during their road game at Bowling Green. University officials have stated that the team does not have a full time cheerleading team due to budgetary issues and simply outsources the job to local high school squads. Apparently the Ohio based squad that was hired to work the Bowling Green game brought their own flags unaware that the school was based in Canada. Despite this explanation, extremely polite protests have broken out across the country.Comment

Nunyer's Notes
That was probably the most bizarre game I've played so far in this thread. The Huskies scored easily on their first two drives, I don't even think they ever faced a 3rd down... and eventually would score TDs on three of their first five drives. Then after the Gibbs kickoff return TD, which I just realized I failed to mention in the game story, they just completely collapsed.
I've never seen anything quite like it. The CPU QB must have been huffing spray paint on the sidelines... and not just normal spray paint but like that metal flake bronze stuff. They setup three screen passes during the second half and all three of them the QB immediately sailed to ball to the sidelines after the snap... ignored open receivers and threw into coverage.. took a handful of losses on option runs when the pitchman was left open... plays the CPU QB usually make were left on the field.
It got so bad that midway through the 3rd quarter, right after the Palinski TD run, I kicked the ball off then ran to take a bathroom break and didn't bother pausing the game. Between my whiz and a quick 10-20 second mini-conversation with my wife, I was gone for maybe two minutes. In that time, they threw three incomplete passes, punted and the Rhinos had taken two delay of game penalties. I spend the entire 4th quarter in the 3-4 playing man to man defense against 3 and 4 WR sets and they still weren't consistently completing passes... they were dropping passes like my team was last season. I had to double check and make sure I hadn't bumped down to Varsity or something during my slider tweaking.
After losing to Akron, one of the worst teams in the conference, I've won two straight against two of the higher rated teams in the conference. Although for whatever reason, NIU has sucked both this year and last year despite having one of the highest, if not the highest, team OVR in the MAC. They are just snakebit in this dynasty so far.
Another three week chunk is in the books, so next up will be a look at the top 25 and MAC standings.Comment

Re: Niagara Rhinos: An Alternate Universe NCAA 14 Dynasty
It's funny UL Lafayette is has been dominating the Sun Belt in my dynasty as well in fact they have went undefeated 13-0 last year in year 2016 and 12-1 in 2015.
So I went to look up who they had in real life or how their real life counterparts did during the stretch of 2011-2016 and realized that is when they won 4 straight New Orleans Bowls and were in fact one of the best teams in the Sun Belt but also had to forfeit like 22 wins because of NCAA violations and recruiting infractions.Comment

Next preview is ready to go... a roster that is actually worse than Niagara? well, this dismal WMU squad is pretty close. After rolling the 81 / B- Northern Illinois, I expect to lose this one by three scores.

Re: Niagara Rhinos: An Alternate Universe NCAA 14 Dynasty
Nunyer's Notes
This game started out with the craziest field goal I think I've ever seen in this game. Just take a look... this would have been good from 75 yards. This is a 57 yarder that was just starting on it's decent when it hit the net. (EDIT: The wind wasn't a factor, I think it was 2 mph for the two kicks I attempted)
Such a mighty wallop indeed. I figured at this point the CPU had it in for me... with this 80 yard FG nonsense. But alas, it was not to be... Like I mentioned in the game story, I figured I'd go all out with blitzing their crappy o-line / QB and it seemed to work. They were awful in the first half and I was able to build a big lead. They were much better in the 2nd half on both sides of the ball... but by then it was too late.Last edited by Nunyerbiz; 11-26-2019, 12:37 AM.Comment

Re: Niagara Rhinos: An Alternate Universe NCAA 14 Dynasty
Just looked it up, he has an 86 KPW, so that's pretty good, but I was expecting like 110 KPW after witnessing that. I went into FG return mode because I was shocked they were even attempting it... then he cleared it by like 20 yards.Comment
