Huskies Dominate All Phases in Blowout Win

Ephesians Prysock returns an interception in the second half against Rutgers.

Piscataway - Giles Jackson returned the opening kickoff 95 yards, and the Huskies never looked back as they cruised to a dominant 70-20 win on the road against the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers. The offense was on cruise control never turning the ball over or punting in this one as they did anything they wanted on the Rutgers defense. The defense was a little slow to catch up to the dominance in the first half but locked things down after halftime pitching a shut out in the second half, and forcing three interceptions of Rutgers quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis. Even the backups joined in on the fun late as Demond Williams found Camden Sirmon for a score late, and then broke off a 77 yard TD run against a tired and defeated Scarlet Knight defense. The win moves Washington to 2-0 in the conference, and sets up a big game at home next week against the #1 ranked Michigan Wolverines at Husky Stadium.

      Week 5 Recap

Georgia's Last Second TD Takes Down Alabama

Tuscaloosa - After controlling much of the game, the Georgia Bulldogs found themselves trailing late after Alabama erupted for three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to take the lead, and seemingly once again foil a Georgia winning streak, but this time Carson Beck had other plans. Trailing 31-28, He hit Dominic Lovett for a 33 yard touchdown as time expired, giving the frontrunner for the trophy his signature Heisman moment, and giving the Bulldogs a 34-31 win on the road against their arch rivals. Here's how the rest of an exciting week shaped up in the Top 25:

      Huskies Land Top QB Recruit

It was a big week for Jedd Fisch and the Huskies on, and off the field as they picked up a major commitment from 4-Star QB John Godwin (39 NAT, 1 OR, 4 QB), the #4 QB in the 2025 class, and #1 ranked player in the state of Oregon. A major win for Fisch poaching the #1 in state recruit from their rivals. Oregon, and Utah were also in on Godwin, but he ultimately chose the Purple and Gold to begin his college career. Bringing the Huskies class up to 5 commits for 2025.

        Week 6 Preview vs. Michigan

Seattle - It's a rare occurrence in college football, but thanks to conference realignment we are getting a national championship game rematch this week between the Michigan Wolverines, and Washington Huskies. Both teams look remarkably different than the two squads that took the field in January in Houston. Both teams have new coaches, and many new starters across the field including at Quarterback. Michigan still held onto many top players however including all-American candidates Mason Graham, and Will Johnson on defense, and so far has been unscathed in their quest to defend their title. It will be a major test for the Huskies who are coming in feeling good about themselves winning their first two Big Ten conference matchups. Kickoff will be at 8:00 PM EST from Husky Stadium.

Georgia Leapfrogs Back to Top of AP Poll

A win on the road against a top 5 opponent was enough for voters to insert Georgia back at the top of the AP Poll this week after their huge win over the Crimson Tide. Michigan will fall back to the #2 spot this week, with much of the poll staying the same with two teams in Washington, and Notre Dame climbing their way back in.

Michigan Pulls Away in Second Half as Huskies Fall to 4-2

Will Johnson picks off Will Rogers during Michigan's win.

Seattle - The Huskies hung with the defending champs for a half on Saturday. Will Rogers and Jeremiah Hunter had it working as the Washington QB found his top target twice for scores, as the Huskies went into the break trailing just 21-17 to the undefeated Wolverines. The second half was another story unfortunately for Washington, as the Michigan defense clamped down, highlighted by a Will Johnson pick-six that essentially put the game away as the Wolverines rolled to a 41-17 win at Husky Stadium in the National Championship rematch. The loss will most certainly knock Washington back out of the top 25, and the schedule doesn't get any easier with a road test next week at Iowa. The Huskies will have to move on from this defeat quickly if they want to stay alive in the Big Ten conference race.

            Week 6 Recap

            A&M Stomps Missouri 30-7

College Station - The Missouri Tigers came into Kyle Field undefeated, but left with their heads hung as the Aggies of Texas A&M put it to them all night. Conner Weigman threw for 211 yards, and two scores as Texas A&M put themselves right back in the thick of the SEC, and CFP race with a comfortable 30-7 win at home. A win over a Top 5 team will surely vault A&M into the top 5 this week, and the way the Aggies are rolling right now not many will want to face them down the stretch of the SEC Schedule. Here's how the rest of the Top 25 fared this week:

              Week 7 Preview at Iowa

Iowa City - The Washington Huskies will look to bounce back from last weeks loss, and keep themselves alive in the Big Ten race as they head on the road to take on the #16 Iowa Hawkeyes. The two storied programs have split their previous six meetings, but have not faced off since 1995. The Huskies pass defense that has been suspect for much of the season will have to deal with Cade McNamara, who has brought somewhat of a passing game to the normally grounded Hawkeye offense. Kickoff will be early for those on the West coast as things will get started at Noon EST from Kinnick Stadium.

College Gameday Heads back to Eugene for Big Ten Showdown

Eugene - In what has seemingly become a yearly tradition at this point the Ducks of Oregon will once again be welcoming ESPN's college gameday to the Pacific Northwest as the Oregon Ducks and Ohio State Buckeyes will do battle in a game that will have massive implications in the Big Ten title race. Ohio State is coming off a shocking home loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes last Saturday, making this game a must win if they want any shot of heading to Indianapolis in December. Meanwhile the Ducks are finding their groove at 5-0, coming off an impressive beat down of the Michigan State Spartans last Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST from Autzen Stadium. ACC Crashes Top 25 Party with Syracuse, Boston College

While Florida State, and Clemson, have fallen on hard times there are two unexpected teams that have emerged, and taken up the banner for the conference. The Syracuse Orange have started out 5-0 lead by Quarterback Kyle McCord who transferred from Ohio State this past season, meanwhile another transfer QB Thomas Castellanos has the Boston College Golden Eagles flying high for the first time in decades as they've shot out to a 5-1 start. Huskies Rally in Fourth Quarter to Upset Hawkeyes

Jeremiah Hunter hauls in a touchdown vs. Iowa Saturday.

Iowa City - The vaunted Iowa defense had Will Rogers, and the Huskies stumped through three quarters. The Huskies signal caller had thrown two interceptions, and the Huskies trailed 17-7 going into the fourth staring down a second straight loss. Then Jonah Coleman got to work, and started to wear the Hawkeyes down, and Will Rogers was able to find some holes in the secondary, especially when targeting Jeremiah Hunter who finished with 119 yards, and a score, as UW mounted a comeback in hostile territory, scoring three times in the fourth quarter, and stunning the Hawkeyes 28-20 at Kinnick Stadium. The win keeps UW alive in the Big Ten championship race, and gives them a huge boost of momentum heading into their first bye week of the season.

                  Week 7 Recap

Ohio State Takes Down Ducks in Eugene

Eugene - The Ohio State defense forced three turnovers, including two interceptions off Dillon Gabriel, as the Buckeyes went into Eugene, and handed the Ducks their first loss of the season with a 36-24 victory. The Ohio State offense did not put up big yards on the day, but was able to capitalize every time they were given a short field by the big plays on defense. Dillon Gabriel finished with 289 yards, but no touchdowns, as the two INT's were critical in the outcome of this Big Ten showdown. Here's where the rest of the Top 25 ended up this week:

Gameday Heads to Austin for New Look SEC Clash

Austin - A battle between two of college football's biggest names is now a conference matchup as Georgia will head to Texas to do battle in an SEC Clash. The Longhorns are reeling after a loss to their bitter rivals last week in the Red River Rivalry, and will have to win this game, and most likely win out if they want any shot at the College Football Playoff at the end of the year. Meanwhile Georgia looked less than impressive last week against Mississippi State at home but got the win nonetheless and remained undefeated, and still ranked #1 coming into a tough road test. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST from Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium. Here's the rest of the Top 25 schedule for this week:

As long as the Bulldogs keep winning, and Carson Beck puts up these numbers it's hard to see anyone challenging him seriously for the Heisman this season, but here's a list of some who could crash the party if something goes wrong for the QB:

                      Week 8 Recap

                      Georgia Ends Texas' Playoff Dreams

Austin - It was a sloppy game on Saturday at Darrel K Royal Memorial Stadium, but in the end it was the #1 Bulldogs who were able to put it together in the fourth quarter, and keep their season alive with a 20-12 win against the Texas Longhorns. The loss probably ends Texas' shot at the College Football Playoff with 3 losses. A disappointing result for a team who started the year in the Top 5. With two of their losses coming against the #1, and #2 ranked teams in the nation there may be a case for an at large bid if they can win out depending on what else happens across the country. Speaking of the rest of the country here's a look at how the rest of the Top 25 shook out this week:

                      Huskies Bolster O-Line for 2025

The Washington Huskies picked up two O-Line commits this week to push their total commits for the 2025 class to nine. Jimmy Longacre (310 NAT, 28 CA, 17 T) out of Albany, CA, and Jordan Yearby (668 NAT, 9 WA, 39 T) will both be wearing purple and gold come next season. Here's a look at the commits so far Washington has picked up for 2025:

5-Star Parms Picks UCLA over Washington, LSU

5-Star Linebacker Ben Parms (21 NAT, 1 CA, 2 MLB) made his decision this week to stay home in Los Angeles with the UCLA Bruins. Parms was being sought after by many, and had narrowed his list down to Washington, LSU, and his hometown Bruins before finally making the decision to stay home this week. This commitment most likely means Jedd Fisch will be without a 5-Star player in his inagural recruiting class for the Huskies

                        Week 9 Preview at Indiana

Bloomington - The Huskies will head back on the road after their bye week to another new conference foe, the Indiana Hoosiers. The game will have a fun backstory of being the two schools where now Husky Legend Michael Penix Jr. played his college football. Penix's days in Hoosierland are pretty much the last time there was anything to get excited about around the IU football program, and it's been another struggle this year for the 2-5 Hoosiers, but the Huskies will still need to be on their A game for this road test. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST from Memorial Stadium.

College Station - Gameday will once again be setting up shop outside Kyle Field as the Aggies look to stave off another SEC test, this time from the LSU Tigers. This game figures to have major implications in the college football playoff race with both teams ranked in the top 10 headed into this clash. Kickoff is set for 8:00 PM EST from Kyle Field.

Memphis Becomes First Group of Five to Land Top 25 Spot

After starting the season 7-0 the Memphis Tigers have become the first "Group of Five" team this season to make the AP Top 25. This is of course very significant starting this season as one at large bid in the college football playoff will be awarded to the top ranked Group of Five team, and this ranking puts Memphis on track to be the first to receive that honor. Here's how the rest of the rankings look this week:

Jackson's Huge Day Carries Huskies to Road Win

Giles Jackson hauls in a pass during Saturday's game.

Bloomington - Giles Jackson had a career day, and the Huskies needed every bit of it. Jackson had 11 catches for 206 yards and two scores, while helping Will Rogers go for over 400 on the day as Washington held off the Hoosiers 38-30 at Memorial Stadium. It looked like it might be an easy day for Washington early on, as they jumped out to a 21-3 lead and seemingly were dominating both sides of the ball, but a strip sack of Will Rogers gave the Hoosiers a short field and a chance to snatch momentum as they quickly got back into the game in the second quarter. Every time it got close however, Rogers, Jackson, and the Huskies offense managed to push the lead back out until finally the defense was able to stop Indiana in the fourth and preserve the win. With the victory the Huskies are still firmly entrenched in the Big Ten title chase with a familiar foe coming to town next week in the USC Trojans.

                            Week 9 Recap

A&M Makes Playoff Statement with Win Against LSU

College Station - Conner Weigman showed out with 310 yards, and four touchdowns as Texas A&M put themselves firmly in the playoff picture with a 45-27 win over LSU on Saturday. The loss for the Tigers will leave them hoping for an at large bid at this point as the SEC title is almost assuredly out of reach for them at this point. Meanwhile A&M will likely have a top 5 ranking come tomorrow and be in firm control of their own destiny to secure one of the 12 spots in the postseason. Here's how the rest of the Top 25 fared this week:

                              Week 10 Preview vs. USC

Seattle - After seeing a lot of new faces, and new places in this Big Ten season the Huskies will finally start to see some familiar foes down the stretch, and it'll start this Saturday against their fellow former Pac-12 opponents, the USC Trojans. USC had high hopes coming into the season, but a rough 2-4 start dashed any dreams of contending for a playoff spot. USC has since won two straight however, and while the playoffs are out of the question for the Trojans, the prospect of spoiling one of their rivals hopes should be plenty of motivation this weekend. The game kicks off at 8:00 PM EST from Husky Stadium.

                                Huskies Cruise Past Trojans 37-18

Quentin Moore pulls in a touchdown during Saturday's game.

Seattle - The Trojans may have stopped Will Rogers from another 300 yard game, but it did not matter, as the Husky defense came up with the big plays needed for UW to coast to a 37-18 win on Saturday night. Quentin Moore was the star on offense in this one with 123 yards and a score, while the Husky defense forced three USC turnovers including two interceptions both with some flair. Jeremiah Hunter subbed in on a defensive package in the second quarter, and Miller Moss thought he'd test him. It turned out to be a mistake as the dual-threat picked the pass off and housed it for 83 yards which gave Washington all of the momentum. Then late in the game Safety Makell Esteen sealed the game with his own interception, then while returning it out of bounds it appeared a punch was thrown by one of the USC coaches on the Trojan sideline. Esteen looked back in his direction but quickly moved on to celebrate the turnover, and win with his teammates. The Huskies will now have one of the biggest road tests of the season on deck at Penn State next Saturday with their playoff chances on the line.
