Huskies Take Back Apple Cup 37-20

Demond Williams Jr. throws across his body to Denzel Boston during the Huskies win.

Pullman - John Mateer, and the Cougars "Air-Raid" offense was able to pile up the yards, but when it was time to make stops the Huskies defense was up to the challenge late, with Makell Esteen picking off Mateer twice in the fourth quarter, as the Huskies were able to cruise to a 37-20 win and exact revenge for last year's upset in the Apple Cup. While Demond Williams Jr. didn't pile up the numbers like his counterpart, he was much more efficient with his 285 yards, and two throwing scores. Williams was able to scamper into the endzone once again with his legs as well as he continues to show that element of his game that teams have yet to figure out early on in the season. Washington will get one more game to iron things out next week before conference play kicks into full gear at Michigan on September 27th which could be a top 10 matchup by the time it gets here.

        Week 3 Recap

Notre Dame Makes Statement on Road

Chestnut Hill - After a disappointing 2024 season many speculated Marcus Freeman could be on the hot seat at Notre Dame if they failed to make the playoff this season. On Saturday they made a strong push into that discussion with a win on the road over the #4 ranked Boston College Eagles. A signature road win is exactly what the Irish need as they try to make the case as an independent making it into the dance this season. The loss is a set back for the Eagles, but they're far from done in their quest for a playoff spot to follow up an impressive 2024 campaign. Here's how the rest of the Top 25 did in week 3.

Week 4 Preview vs. UC Davis

Seattle - The Huskies will get one final tune up before conference play kicks into full gear next week as the UC Davis Aggies from the FCS come to Seattle to take on Washington. While the Huskies will not take any opponent lightly the coaching staff behind closed doors most likely is just hoping to get out of this game without any major injuries, and get some reserves some playing time before the competition heats up starting next week. Kickoff is set for 9:00 PM from Husky Stadium.

i hate playing air raid offenses, they always seem to play like the 08 pats lol

lots of big time matchups this week, could easily find yourself back in the top 10 if things shake out right

It's annoying for sure. Makes my stats look jacked up too even though I win the game. All those yards...

Huskies Roll 51-16 as They Gear Up For B1G Ten Schedule

Demond Williams Jr. celebrates after running in for a touchdown.

Seattle - It took a while to get going, but eventually the Huskies did what most thought they would, and rolled over the UC Davis Aggies 51-16 at Husky Stadium on Saturday. Demond Williams Jr. impressed again with his arm, and legs accounting for three touchdowns, while highly touted freshman John Godwin got his first real game action in mop up duty throwing a touchdown late. Washington led just 24-10 going into halftime, but eventually wore down the undermanned team from the FCS West in the second half. With their final tune up behind them the Dawgs will now gear up for conference play, and a tough test next week as they go on the road to Michigan.

                      Week 5 Preview at Michigan

Ann Arbor - For the first time since 2023 the Washington Huskies will be a part of college gameday, albeit not as the hosts. The #5 Michigan Wolverines will play host to the crew as the #11 Huskies come to town for a big time matchup of undefeated teams in the B1G Ten. Washington's defense will have their hands full with Heisman contender Darius Taylor, who has run all over every team he's faced so far this season. Meanwhile this will be the first major test for Husky quarterback Demond Williams Jr. who has impressed in his first month as the Husky starter, but will be making a big step up in competition on Saturday. The game is set to kick-off at 3:15 PM EST from Michigan Stadium.

After one month of College Football the biggest surprise has been Michigan running back Darius Taylor. While not on many radars to start the season after replacing Donovan Edwards, Taylor has lit up the competition so far with 659 yards, and 8 touchdowns through four games. Here's where our Heisman rankings currently have him, and the other contenders ranked through the first month of the season:

Huskies Make Massive Statement in Big House

Will Favors outruns the Michigan defense for a 78 yard touchdown during the Huskies win Saturday.

Ann Arbor - The Washington defense picked off Alex Orji three times in the second half, and Demond Williams Jr. continued his stellar play at quarterback as the Huskies went into Ann Arbor, and left the crowd of over 100,000 at Michigan Stadium stunned as they took down the Wolverines 33-13. After a tight first half the game turned in the third quarter after the Huskies got a stop on the opening drive. Demond Williams found Will Favors in single coverage down the field, and he beat his man for the ball then outran the defense for a 78 yard touchdown. After that Michigan was forced to abandon it's run heavy game plan, and put the ball in the air. That's when the Huskies went to work. Washington picked off Alex Orji on the next drive which led to a field goal, and a 23-10 lead, Michigan countered driving the ball all the way to the 1 yard line, but the Huskies came up with a massive goal line stand to force a field goal, and keep it a two possession game. Williams then led the Huskies down the field for another score early in the fourth quarter that put the game out of reach for the Wolverines, who could not get their passing game going to attempt a comeback. It was a stunning turn for a defense that had been getting picked apart through the air so far this season, but it came at the perfect time as now the Huskies are in a prime position to make a run for the B1G Ten crown, with five of their last seven games at home.

No idea what happened in this one. It's like I blacked out. Hit a huge play, and once I did it got them off their game script of running the ball, and then my defense started ball hawking. Easily the best defensive game I've played since I bought the game. Probably over 50 games played. What a win. We're in business for a playoff run.

                              Week 5 Recap

Georgia's Late Touchdown Keeps Them Unbeaten

Athens - The Georgia Bulldogs didn't panic after falling behind 14-3 early to the Longhorns at home on Thursday night, and Gunner Stockton led a touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter as Georgia stayed unbeaten with a 25-24 come from behind win over the Texas Longhorns. It was a good showing for Texas as they led most of the way just a week removed from beating the Buckeyes in Columbus, and they no doubt proved that they belong amongst the elite in college football this season. In the end it wasn't quite enough however, and now they must hope they get another shot in neutral territory later on this year. Here's how the rest of the Top 25 fared in a light slate of games this week:

Could Hopkins Jr. Make Run for Heisman?

A defensive player has not won the Heisman trophy in almost 30 years, but Milton Hopkins Jr. of the Washington Huskies has thrown his name in the discussion early on with his play on the defensive line. Through five games the Senior from Seattle has tallied five sacks, and showed his versatility on Saturday when he dropped into coverage, and picked off Alex Orji late in the Huskies win over Michigan. If Washington can continue their run into the playoffs, and Hopkins can keep up his stellar play, one would have to think he may be in the discussion for college football's top individual honor at the end of the season.

                                Week 6 Preview at Maryland

College Park - Coming off the biggest win of the Jedd Fisch era the Huskies will need to avoid a let down as they make a tough cross country trip to College Park, Maryland to take on the Terrapins on Saturday night. Coach Mike Locksley, and the Terps surprised many folks with their start to last season, but they fizzled down the stretch after a 6-1 start to finish 8-4. Now the Terrapins will not be sneaking up on anyone this season, as they're ranked in the Top 25 early on. The game is set to kickoff at 9:00 PM EST from SECU Stadium.

Gameday Returns to Manhattan, Kansas for Big XII Matchup

After pulling one of the most stunning upsets in recent memory, and making a run to the final four of the College Football Playoff last season many were expecting big things from Avery Johnson, and DJ Giddens as they returned to Manhattan for the 2025 season. The Wildcats stumbled out of the gates to UCF, but the CFP is still very much in play for them via the Big XII championship, and they can make a major step towards that title as they welcome the Texas Tech Red Raiders for an early Big XII showdown that could have massive implications later on this season. Here's where the Top 25 will be playing in Week 6:

Georgia's Win Cements Them at #1

Undefeated, and with wins over a #2, and #3 ranked team there's little question who is the top team in College Football at this point in the season. Clemson, and Alabama are making their cases as well, and the defending champs have creeped back into the Top 5 after an early season loss as there's still a lot left to determine before the season winds down. Here's how the polls look this week according to the AP:
