      Huskies Leading Rusher Enters Portal

Seattle - After leading the Huskies in rushing this season Junior running back Jonah Coleman has decided to enter the transfer portal and find a new team for his Senior season. This is a blow to the Huskies who do not have a strong incoming class of backs. The bulk of the load would seem to be going now to Daniyel Ngata who had a fine year for himself on the ground in Washington this past season.

          2025 Season Preview

Demond Williams Jr. Edges out Godwin for Starting QB Nod

Seattle - The biggest story of the Huskies offseason came to a close this week as head coach Jedd Fisch announced that Demond Williams Jr. would in fact get the nod to start the Washington Opener against Colorado State. Williams was in a heated battle with incoming freshman QB John Godwin all spring for the job, and in the end his experience with the team last season, and his mobility was enough to earn the job going into the season. How long the leash will be on Williams remains to be seen. When you have a highly touted recruit breathing down your neck there is usually not much room for error, but Husky fans should be hoping that Williams can play well enough to keep the job this season.

real tough way to end the season, then losing the runningback to the portal on top of that oof.

aside from the obv trio of ohio state, michigan, and oregon schedule looks plenty winnable on paper

Week 1 Preview vs. Colorado State

Seattle - The long wait is finally over, and the Washington Huskies 2025 campaign is ready to kick off this weekend when they host the Colorado State Rams. Washington is looking to erase the bad feeling that the end of last year left them with as they ended the season with back to back losses to Oregon, and then Missouri in the Music City Bowl. Demond Williams Jr. will now take the reigns for the 21st ranked Huskies as they attempt to make a push for a spot in this year's college football playoff.

Gameday Heads to Las Vegas for Historic Season Opener

Las Vegas - One of the outcomes hoped for when the twelve team playoff format was introduced was that some programs would be more keen on scheduling marquee games early on, as a single non-conference loss does little to affect one's chances at making the playoff tournament. We are seeing that outcome play out in epic fashion early on in this season as we will have for the first time in history the #1 and #2 teams in the AP Poll will open the season facing each other as the Georgia Bulldogs, and Oregon Ducks will do battle at Allegiant Stadium on Monday Night. Both teams are coming off disappointing ends to their season's in the college football playoff last year as Georgia went undefeated throughout the season, and conference championship only to be bounced in the quarterfinal by Kansas State. Meanwhile the Ducks went undefeated against any team not named Ohio State last year, as all three of their defeats came at the hands of the Buckeyes, including a loss in the semifinal. The game kicks off on Monday, September 1st at 7:30 PM EST from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Here's a look at the rest of the Top 25 in action as we head into the first full weekend of college football:

Demond Williams Jr. Shines as Huskies Open Season with Win

Demond Williams Jr. showed out in his first start for the Huskies.

Seattle - Demond Williams Jr. looked electric at times throwing for 283 yards, and four touchdowns as the Washington Huskies started off the 2025 campaign with a 41-30 win over Colorado State. Williams made big throw, after big throw in this one connecting on three passes over 40 yards. He got it done on the ground as well, although some ill-timed sacks made the rushing totals look less impressive than it did when he escaped the pocket. On the flip side the Husky defense looked a step behind the offense for much of the first half, but buckled down in the second half to get stops when they needed to. There's still some things the Huskies will want to clean up on that side of the ball though before their early conference test next week against UCLA.

hopefully the defense rounds into form as the season progresses, otherwise the offense is going to feel the pressure to always put up big games

                        Week 2 Preview at UCLA

Pasadena - The Huskies will look to make it 2-0 this week as they head south to take on the UCLA Bruins. Washington dismantled the Bruins last year at a snowy Husky Stadium 42-9, and UCLA will no doubt be thankful that this year's contest will be in early September in sunny Southern California. Kickoff is set for 3:00 PM from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.

The Florida Gators title defense did not get off to a good start on Saturday as they fell to the #15 Boston College Eagles 30-20. The Gators are the first national champions to lose their season opener the next season since the 2020 LSU Tigers lost to Mississippi State in their opener after the 2019 title. Here's how the polls shake out as we head into Week 2:

                          Huskies Blast Bruins 44-13

Russell Davis II celebrates after returning a fumble for a touchdown during the Huskies win Saturday.

Pasadena - The Huskies defense that struggled at times last week came to play on Saturday. Washington sacked UCLA sophomore quarterback Luke Duncan seven times, and forced three turnovers. Returning two touchdowns as they ran away from the Bruins at the Rose Bowl 44-13. Demond Williams Jr. was not quite as sharp as he was a week ago, but he did enough with his arm, and his legs once again to guide the offense to victory, but it was the defense that shined through a rare cloudy, and rainy day in Pasadena, California holding the Bruins to less than 300 yards a week after getting gashed by Colorado State. The Huskies now sit at 2-0 with revenge on their minds next week as they head to Pullman.

                            Week 2 Recap

Oregon Gets Back on Track Against Oklahoma State

Eugene - Jayden Limar rushed for two touchdowns, and the Oregon Ducks rebounded from their week 1 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs by taking down the #8 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys 30-24 at Autzen Stadium. Oklahoma State QB Garret Rangel played well throwing three touchdowns, but his late interception set up the Ducks to be able to score, and put the game away in the fourth quarter. Here's how the rest of the Top 25 shook out in Week 2.

Week 3 Preview at Washington State

Pullman - The #15 Washington Huskies look to make it a 3-0 start to the season as they head east to Pullman, Washington to take on the Cougars in the annual Boeing Apple Cup. An upset loss to the Cougs early last season may have made a difference in the Huskies making or missing the college football playoff last season, and the Dawgs will no doubt have revenge on their minds as they take on their rivals this weekend. Despite an 0-3 start Wazzu quarterback John Mateer, who lit the Huskies up last season, is off to a fine start for the Cougars throwing for 812 yards, and six touchdowns thru his first three games. Kickoff from Martin Stadium is at 3:30 PM EST.

Upset Loss Drops NC State Out of Top 10

A close upset loss to Appalachian State dropped the ACC favorites NC State out of the Top 10 this week as they fell to #16. Ironically the win for the Mountaineers over a top 10 team wasn't quite enough for voters to leap them into the top 25, just barely missing out on the votes required. Here's how the poll looks as we head into week 3:
