    TTU MAKES IT 6-0!!

Texas Tech extended their winning streak to 6 gams this season and 20 dating back to last year's lass to Alabama well moving to 2-0 in Big 12 play with a win over SMU in Week 7.

    GAME RECAP

On paper one would think SMU would've made it more of a game as the Mustangs won the TOP Battle 32 minutes to 27, had more passing yards (233 to 210), and had more 1st Downs (16 to 13), but at the end of the day it was SMU's 2/4 performance on 4th down late in the 4th that killed to scoring opportunities.

Texas Tech opened up the scoring in the 1st Quarter by taking a (14-0) lead as Freddie Vildor throws a pair of scores to Rico Hatfield (21 yds and 19 yds). For Hatfield it was TD #9 and #10 putting him in a 2nd place tie with 4 other WR's behind Georgia Tech SR WR Nate Kruhn (26 rec 437 yds 13 TD)

SMU cut the lead to (14-7) early in the 2nd Quarter as SR QB R. Franco (80 ovr) hooks up with JR WR E. Ortegea (82 ovr) on a 13 yd score but Vildor answers back hitting Felix Addison on a 46 yd bomb to make it (21-7) at the half.

TTU opened up the 2nd half with the ball as Vildor hits TE Ramon Barbosa fora 13 yd score giving the JR QB 4 TD's on the day, as TTU extends the lead to (28-7) and then after a forced punt, TTU tacks on 3 more as SO PK Jimmy Chosen hits a career long 50 yd FG to make it (31-7) midway through the 3rd Quarter.

SMU would score early in the 4th as Franco hits SO WR Branden Taliaferro (80 ovr) on a 11 yd score but a missed XPT by FR PK Denard Bagent leaves it (31-13). It was a rough day for Bagent who earlier missed 2 FG attempts as well.

    FINAL SCORE TTU-31 SMU-13

Running that win streak up pretty quick!

What's the longest win streak you've had so far? I wasn't around for the beginning with BSU and I can't remember how long the one you had earlier with TTU and GNK was...

            VILDOR=VICTROY

Despite a early INT by Freddie Vildor and fumbles by both Netori Morton and Sean Byham, the #1 Texas Tech Red Raiders made it 7-0 on the season with their Week 8 victory over #5 Nebraska.

            GAME RECAP

TTU won the toss and elected to kick and Nebraska wasted little time getting points on the scoreboard as SR QB Brian Mangold (94) hits SR WR J. Hennessy (83) on a 73 yd bomb to make it (7-0).

But TTU showed off it's own big play ability as Vildor hits Rico Hatfield on a 68 yd pass and catch touchdown to tie the game (7-7).

TTU then took the lead (14-7) as Vidlor and Hatfield hookup for TD #2 (22 yd) as the 1st Quarter comes to a close.

Nebraska opens up the 2nd Quarter kicking a 43 yd FG to make it (14-10) and then the Cornhuskers take the lead as JR FS Manny Mumprhey (82) picks off Vildor to setup a 48 yd TD run by JR RB Lamar Ibrahim (86) to make it (17-14).

Vildor however would shake off the INT by throwing TD #3 on the day as he hits JR TE Ramon Barbosa from 35 yds out to give TTU the (21-17) lead going into the locker room.

Vidlor and TTU wastes little time opening up the 2nd half as Vidlor leads a 8 play drive ending with a 28 yd TD to Felix Addison to extend the lead to (28-17) early in the 3rd Quarter. TTU had a opportunity to extend the lead but the Nebraska D steps up and strips Sean Byham of the ball inside the 5 yd line.

Still (28-17) as we enter the 4th Quarter, Nebraska gets a scare as Mangold goes down hard and is carted off the field (torn labrum will be out 4 weeks) leaving Syracuse transfer SR QB Curtis Van Pelt (90) to take over. Van Pelt showed off his ability to both run and throw as he leads the Cornhuskers on a 7 play drive ending with a 9 yd TD on a QB keeper to make it (28-23) with 4 minutes to play.

With the ground game coughing up the ball, Vildor takes the game into his own hands as he throws TD #5 finding Craig Smythe on a 27 yd strike to make it (34-23). Leading by 9 TTU leaves the offense on the field for the 2pt play but Nebraska picks of Vidlor's pass intended for Hatfield leaving it a 9 point game with 2:28 to play..

Van Pelt then showed off his big play arm as he finds JR WR Cameron McArthur (91) on a 82 yd bomb to make it (34-29) still with over 2 minutes to play in the game. Leaving the offense on the field of the 2pt play to try and cut the lead to a FG, Van Pelt hands of to Ibrahim who is stopped in the backfield leaving it a 5 point game. After attempting the onside kick and failing Nebraska was left with all 3 timeouts and the hopes for a miracle and they almost got one as Netori Morton coughs up the ball for the Red Raiders 3rd turnover of the game.

With new life, Van Pelt would go to the air looking to make something but now it was TTU's "D" time to step up as JR SS Shawn Loudermilk picks off the pass in the endzone to kill and comeback attempt.

Van Pelt is a SR QB Transfer from Syracuse. I honestly am not sure why he went to Nebraska when they had Mangold (94 ovr) coming back from his Senior year. but obviously the injury is going to get him 4 weeks to start and who knows what will happen McArthur is actually a JC transfer or something weird happened because he is a Junior but only has stats from last year (50 rec for 780 yds 7 TD) and is a 91 Overall as a JR that never had a redshirt. Both players are from New York, so that's why they were never on my radar to recruit

                  TTU MAKES IT 8 STRAIGHT!!

Texas Tech kept it's perfect season in play as they picked up the 8th straight win and 7th straight win over the Aggies as Coach Scott continues his domination of Big 12 play moving to 4-0 on the season.

Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter but the offenses come alive in the 4th as TAMU JR QB Nathan Ervin (80 ovr) throws a pair of touchdowns to make it (28-21) midway throught the 4th, but TTU closes out the game with a full dose of RB Netori Morton as the Senior RB scores twice well breaking the 100 yd mark to close out the game.

Ervin finished the game 18/23 (78%) for 220 yds and 3 TD in the loss

                    ROAD WARRIORS!!!!

It's a crazy game when there is as many Turnovers as there was Touchdowns but that's what we saw tonight as both teams combined for 7 TO's and 7 TD's.

                    GAME RECAP

Hostile Road crowds continue to be Freddie Vidlor's kryponite as the JR QB throws a pair of INT's in each half to end the day with 4 INT's after going 4 straight games without one. But the good news is TTU also picked off Oklahoma JR QB Oliver Hamm (84) 3 times including 2 in the 1st half by SO FS Javon Proche with 1 being returned 17 yds to the 3 yd line to setup a last second TD b RB/FB Ezeziel Warmack to give TTU the (17-3) lead going into the locker room.

Oklahoma would tie the game up in the 3rd Quarter scoring twice as Hamm is able to complete 2 big plays throwing a 69 yd TD to SO WR J. Ahmed (77) and a 48 yd TD to FR WR Andres Rojas (77) making it (17-17) as we head to the 4th.

The Vildor to Hatfield TD connection was held in check most of the day but finally with 5:43 to play TTU took the lead as the duo hooks up from 13 yds out to give Texas Tech a (24-17) lead.

Oklahoma drove the length of the field and appeared ready to tie the game once again, but RS SO Cesar Flores picks of Hamm for his 1st career INT taking it 79 yds on the return to set up a Jimmy Chosen FG as TTU extend their lead to (27-17) with 2:28 to play.

Hamm however shook off the early INT and once again goes big covering 80 yds in just 4 pass's including a 13 yd score to SO TE Ben Sabri (80) to cut the lead back to (27-24) with 1:12 to play.

The Sooners would try for the onside kick but TTU was ready as they recover. Still armed with 2 timeouts Oklahoma needed a stop and after Morton carried the ball twice forcing both timeouts to be burned TTU was facing a 3rd and 4 but instead of setting up for a 3rd straight run, Coach Scott called for play action and the Sooner "D" bit as backup TE Deontae Levine is left wide open taking it 65 yds down to the 3 yd line before being caught from behind.

Rather then kneel out the clock, Coach Scott left the #1 offense on the field as Morton takes the handoff and goes untouched for his 9th TD of the season.

                    FINAL SCORE TEXAS TECH-34 OKLAHOMA-24

                        WEEK 10 TOP-25 UPDATE

With the arrival of Week 10, we have the release of the 1st College Football Playoff Bracket as well as some Bowl Projections, here is a look at who is still in a hunt for a spot at the playoff table and a shot at a National Championship.

                        #1 (9-0) Texas Tech
" Can Texas Tech really make a run at a 5th straight Natty? Their Week 11 matchup with Texas and a potential showdown with #2 K-State in the Big 12 Championship could either be good prep or it could derail their repeat chances."

                        #2 (9-0) Kansas State
"The Wildcats and Red Raiders didn't meet during the regular season, but if TTU can get past Texas in Week 11, it looks like we could have a crash course of unbeatens in the Big 12 title game with the winner claiming the #1 seed."

                        #3 (10-0) Georgia Tech
"The Yellow Jackets are also unbeaten and currently 7-0 in SEC play, as G.T. looks for it's first SEC title since the move from the ACC.

                        #4 (9-1) Penn Sate
"The Buckeyes are coming off a 31-9 win over Ohio State as they look to finish strong and claim the Big 10 title.

                        #5 (8-1) Texas
"This is the first time the Longhorns have really made a play at presenting themselves back in the discussion as a National Powerhouse.. If they can beat TTU it will go along way on their resume to prove it"

                        #6 (9-1) Oregon
A Week 9 win over Boise State (55-7) and a Week 10 win over Top-25 ranked Washington State has Oregon in the drivers seat for a Pac-12 title and a Top-5 finish as they look to finally get Phil Knight his title"

                        #7 (7-2) Michigan
The Wolverines still have a shot at making the Big Ten title game, but they will need to win out as they close out the year with Michigan State, Central Michigan and Western Michigan.

                        #8 (8-1) Rutgers
The Scarlet Knights are having one of their best seasons, with their only loss coming to Penn State on the road. The host Ohio State this week as they look to try and grab a at-large big with potentially a 10 win season.

                        #9 (7-2) LSU
The Tigers are having a pretty solid year with wins over Georgia, Alabama and Auburn, but they will need to beat #13 Arkansas in Week 12 if they want a shot at a rematch with Georgia Tech in the SEC title game.

                        #10 (9-0) Fresno State

                        #11 (7-2) UCLA
"The Bruins are having their best season yet and at this point looks to be ready to take down the Pac-12 South and set up a potential rematch with Oregon for the Pac-12 title.

                        #12 (8-1) Tennessee
"The Vols like Fresno State will look to finish strong and secure a spot as CUSA Champs"

                        #13 (7-2) Arkansas
The Hogs need to get past Auburn this week before they start worrying about LSU in Week 12.

"The Tar Heels ACC and Playoff hopes are on the line this week against #17 (6-3) Clemson

Florida Atlantic could and should make the playoffs if they can win out and secure a Sun Belt title.

The Bulldogs dropped from #5 this past week after their 2nd loss of the season to unranked Florida (24-13). Their SEC Championship hopes are shot but they still got a outside shot at a playoff spot."

                        #17 (6-3) Clemson

The Mountaineers have a huge matchup this week with #22 Coastal Carolina. With the winner keeping their playoff hopes alive.

                        #19 (6-3) Boise State
"The Broncos have no choice but to win out and hope at 9-3 they can climb high enough. I don't think they will, as their playoff run appears to be coming to an end.

                        #23 (8-1) North Texas
The Mean Green appear like the front runners to win the American which you would think get's them a shot in the playoffs, but we will see.
                        #24 (7-2) Washington State
"The Cougars are coming off a (52-14) loss to the Ducks and now have to take on #19 Boise State on "The Blue"
                        #25 (5-4) Miami FL
How a team with 4 loss's and is 1 loss way from being .500 is still in the Top-25 is mind boggling in my opinion.

TEXAS TECH CONTINUES TO DOMINATE OFF THE FIELD AS WELL AS ON!!!

This year Coach Scott came out early and stated TTU would only have 12-13 scholarships available during in-season recruiting and let me tell you he made the most of it signing 12 players by Week 10 including a nation's best (10)-5* Recruits giving him the #2 Overall Class currently under the school ranking system with (232.95 PTS, Miami- 3-5*, 14-4* is currently #1 with 235.65, well Ohio State is #3 (1-5*, 18-4*, 232.00 PTS).

Of the 10-5* Recruits TTU has signed 5 of those players are among the Top-10 including a pair of DE's and a pair of QB's.

DE Eduardo Mendez (#5 Overall/#1 NM/#2 DE) a 6'5 272lb Power Rusher from Portales New Mexico was the States Gatorade POY..

DE Dalton Boyett (#6 Overall/#1 MN/#3 DE) is a 6'3 270 Speed Rusher from Shakopee Minnesota and like Mendez was a Gatorade POY and All-American.

ATH/QB CJ Huval (#9 Overall/#1 LA/#2 QB) is listed at 6'5 202lbs and is from New Orleans Louisiana. This marks the 2nd straight year TTU has secured Louisiana's #1 recruit and Gatorade POY as well. Huval could see a move to WR/TE in order to see the field quicker, with 94 speed he could probably even see time on Defense

QB George Feliz (#10 Overall/#1 AZ/#3 QB) is listed at 6'4 201lbs and like the 3 before him was Arizona's Gatorade POY and a High School All-American. Feliz has a great chance at redshirting next season and then pushing whoever is still in Lubbock for the starting job after Vildor leaves.

HB Rico Hentges (#15 Overall/#1 TX/#1 HB) is a 6'1 197lb Elusive Back from Odessa TX, and continues the trend of the Gatorade POY of Texas signing with TTU. Like Felix Hentges will most likely redshirt if Sean Byham returns for his senior season and the look to push whoever is left for the starting job in 2036 including fellow classmate 5* Sean Mon (#27 Overall/#1 MO/#2 RB)

WR Ben Dial (#17 Overall/#3 TX/#3 WR) is a 6'4 203lb Physical WR from Mcregor TX.

Dial is this year's only WR recruit in TTU's Class this year as 5* Jacques Baity (#13 Overall/W#1 TX/#1 WR) signs with Oklahoma.

                          C TJ Simonson (#21 Overall/#4 TX/#1 C) is listed at 6'4 285 lbs from Austin Texas. With Simonson joining 5* RG Angelo Perrizo (#25 Overall/#5 TX/#1 G), TTU just missed out on a Tri-Fecta of 5* O-Lineman.

                          OLB Kofi Ekuale (#26 Overall/#1 KS/#2 OLB).
Listed at 6'1 253 lbs from Olathe Kansas, Kofi could actually be the most important signing for TTU as the Red Raiders #1 choice signs elsewhere.

**Bradley Garrison (#1 Overall/#1 Utah/#1 OLB) signed with USC as TTU finishes #2.

With Garrison off the board as well as another 5* OLB, Coach Scott turned to 4* Craig Michaels (#255 Overall/#4 CO/#15 OLB) from Greeley CO.

Michaels had scholarship offers from K-State, Nebraska and Boise State.

This year's class had only 1 5* Offensive Tackle and TTU finished #2 in recruiting him as Aiden Mare chooses to stay close to home and play for Miami.

With Mare off the board, TTU turned to 4* Emmett Dumaine (#264 Overall/#7 IL/#10 T) Listed at 6'8 288 lbs, Dumaine has the size and strength to block anyone trying to get to into the Red Raiders backfield.

Well TTU does have 12 scholarship filled, reports are TTU is still actively recruiting 2 more OT's 4* Eli Purdy (#361 Overall/#37 TX/#13 OT) and Tevin Tongue (#65 Overall/#2 CO/#4 OT).

                            VILDOR TROWS AWAY HEISMAN CHANCES!!

With just 4 games left to impress Heisman voters, JR QB Freddie Vildor is doing his best at trying to not become a 2-time winner, as the throws 4 INT's against the Longhorns well finishing with a season low 175 yds.

                            GAME RECAP

Despite the Longhorn's Best efforts vs Vildor, #8 Texas couldn't pull off the upset miracle they were hoping for as TTU get's a huge day from it's 2 Senior Offensive Stars.

Texas Tech jumped out to a early (14-0) lead as SR RB Netori Morton punches in 2 short touchdown runs and TTU extends the lead to (21-0) despite 2 early INT's by Vildor, the QB finally hits one of his own WR's as SO WR DaShaun Riggins catches a 19 yd strike.

Texas trailing (21-0) would pick off Vildor 2 more times in the 2nd Quarter leading to a pair of touchdowns and a Field Goal as the Longhorns looked to make a game of it (21-17) midway through the 2nd Quarter, but with 1;31 to play in the half Vildor shakes off his 4 INT performance by hitting SR WR Rico Hatfield for a 10 yd score to make it (28-17) at the half.

Vidlor and Hatfield would hookup again to open the 2nd half as the duo finishes off a 8 play drive with a 9 yd scoring strike to make it (35-17). Texas would struggle in the 3rd Quarter managing just a 27 yd FG as the Longhorns turn the ball as SO FS Javon Proche comes up with his 3rd INT of the season

Trailing (35-20) going into the 4th, Texas makes it a 1 score game with 7 minutes to play as QB Cole Van Lanen keeps it himself and dives in from 4 yds out to cut the lead to (35-27).

With the passing game struggling, TTU sticks to the ground game and Netori Morton as the Senior carries the load, as the Red Raiders tack on 47 yd FG by Jimmy Chosen to make it (38-27) with 3 minutes to play.

Then it was the TTU Defense stepping up as SO CB Cesar Flores picks off Van Lanen to set up yet another Chosen FG as the Sophomore PK hits from 50 yds out to seal the victory.

                            FINAL SCORE #1 TEXAS TECH-41 #5 TEXAS-27

                            IMPACT FROM THE GAME

With the win TTU is in the drivers seat going into their final 2 games. With the win TTU has clinched a spot in the Big 12 title game for a 6th straight season and despite playing their final 2 games on the road they are favored to win both.

With the loss Texas falls from #5 to #11 and will have to win their final 2 games in hopes of securing a 1st Round Playoff game.

                            OTHER TOP-25 ACTION

#3 Georgia Tech saw it's perfect season come to end as they fall (28-14) to Washington in a late non-conference game. The Yellow Jackets drop to #8 in the rankings but are still in the drivers seat to secure a spot in the SEC title game.

#8 Rutgers lost to Ohio State (24-14) and drop to #16. With the loss the Scarlet Knights playoff hopes are disappearing.

#13 Arkansas's loss to Auburn (45-17) puts the Hogs SEC Championship up in the air. They must beat #6 LSU in Week 12 for any shot at playing the Yellow Jackets.

#14 UNC fell to #17 Clemson (34-27). With the loss the Tar Heels fall to #17 well the Tigers jump to #13.

#18 Applachian State jumps to #14 with their (21-7) win over #22 Coastal Carolina. With the loss the Chantilleers drop out of the rankings.

#19 Boise State beat #24 Washington State (42-24) moving up to #15 in the rankings as the Broncos look to try make the Top-12 to keep their playoff hopes alive.

#20 Wisconsin's (17-14) win over Central Michigan opens the door for the Wolverines to win the Big Ten Lakes Division and a potential matchup with Penn State.

Always feels good to still get the W even when your QB is playing like trash. Hopefully he doesn't have a repeat performance at an inopportune time, but nice knowing you can still grind out the W

RED RAIDERS CLOSE OUT SEASON ON THE ROAD!!

This is going to be a little different writeup as we combine TTU's last 2 games in to 2 posts, as the Red Raiders close out the season with a pair of road victories as they finish a perfect 12-0 Overall and a perfect 8-0 in Big 12 play.

                                Coach Scott
"Playing for a Big 12 title is our goal every year. We know that no matter what if we are in that game then it most likely means we had a great year and are probably in line for a playoff spot"

Coach Scott is not wrong as Texas Tech will be in the playoffs not matter what the outcome is in the Big 12 Championship as #1 (12-0) Texas Tech will take on #2 (12-0) Kansas State , with the winner not only getting the Conference title but also the #1 seed in the playoffs and a 1st Round Bye.

However before we get to the Big 12 title game, here is a recap of the final 2 games.

                                @ (5-5) Oklahoma State (49-17)

The Cowboys were playing for a Bowl game, but TTU dominated holding the Cowboys to just 7 points in the 1st half and just 120 yds passing on the day

TTU led (21-7) at the half, as Freddie Vildor throws 3 TD's including a pair to Rico Hatfield. Vildor coming off a horrible game against Texas, showed why he is a former Heisman winner by in the 2nd half as he throws 2 more TD's and run's for another to finish the day with 14/19 (73%) for 207 yds and 6 TD's combined.

                                @ (5-6) Baylor (31-23)

Like the Cowboy's the Bears too were looking for win #6 and a shot at a Bowl game, but like the Cowboys their season ends at (5-7), despite leading at half time.

Well TTU dominated OK State's passing attack last game, this game the Red Raiders Run Defense was on full display holding Baylor to just 34 yds on the ground on 26 carries.

SR QB Elias Theus (80) did his best to lead Baylor to a (14-7) lead in the 1st half with a pair of TD's but a late 4th Quarter INT killed the Bears chance at forcing OT down by 8 with under 2 minutes to play.

Well Vildor didn't light up the scoreboard with touchdowns, he did play a pretty solid game completing 19/26 (73%) for 270 yds with 1 TD through the air well also adding 50 yds and a TD on the ground.

Netori Morton had another solid day as the SR RB goes for 91 yds and 15 carries well scoring his 13th TD of the season For Morton it's been a career year as he has stayed healthy playing in all 12 games as he finishes the regular season with 241 carries for 1378 yds (5.7 avg) and a career high 13 TD's.
