TTU SURVIVES UPSET WITH 4TH Q RALLY!!

The only time TTU has lost in the playoffs was in 2029 when they entered (12-2) and lost to #7 Wisconsin (42-28). The Badgers went on to win the Semi Finals vs #3 Tennessee before losing to Big Ten Rival #1 Seed Michigan in the 2029 National Championship.

Fast forward 4 years later and (12-2) TTU is the #2 seed yet again and once again are taking on a #7 seed from the Big Ten only this time it is 2029 National Champions Michigan.

    GAME RECAP

Michigan jumped out to a early (10-0) lead in the 1st Quarter after Freddie Vildor's first of 2 1st half INT's. INT #2 leads to another Wolverine touchdown making it (17-0).. Not making plays with his arm, Vildor makes one with his feet as the SO QB scrambles and takes it 48 yds to the house to cut the lead to (17-7) and then with under a minute to play in the half, SR DT Faitele Gash forces a fumble and and picks up the ball rumbling 13 yds to help set up 44 yd FG by SR PK Doug Khaled to make it (17-10) at the half.

Michigan opened up the 2nd half with the ball but their drive stalls out as they settle for a 33 yd FG to make it (20-10). TTU does the same as their drive ends with another Khaled FG to make it (20-13), but with 1:12 to play in the 3rd TTU ties the game as JJ Robert scores his 4th TD of the season with a 5 yd run to tie the game (20-20) as we head to the 4th.

Despite his 2 early INT's in the 1st Quarter, QB Freddie Vildor had been almost perfect since and it continued in the 4th as Vildor throws a pair of touchdowns including a 51 yd strike to Rico Hatfield to give TTU the lead (27-20) and then after another Michigan FG (27-23), Vidlor goes big hitting TE Ramon Barbosa on a 75 yd bomb to extend the Red Raiders lead to 11 points and thats where it would stay..

    FINAL SCORE TEXAS TECH-34 MICHIAN-23

    OTHER RESULTS

#9 Coastal Carolina pulls off the upset of the year beating #1 Ohio State (45-28)

#3 Miami comes from behind trailing (30-21) going into the 4th Quarter but scores twice to win the game (35-30).. The Hurricanes had 186 yds and 4 scores on the ground well the Miami D sacked QB Gordon Selzner 7 times..

Nice job pulling away in the 4th to keep the title hopes alive

Vildor struggled for a bit but got his feet under him when it mattered

It continues to be a weird year. I honestly don't get it the roller coaster play but at the end of the day I enjoy the games that are much harder to win. Just don't like that it means throwing 3-5 INT's to keep the CPU in the game.

TEXAS TECH KICKS THEIR WAY TO A CHANCE AT #5

All week the question has been can anyone knock off Texas Tech from their throne and end the Red Raiders run of 3 straight titles. Well Miami did it's best but at the end of the day, their best was just a little bit short.

          GAME RECAP

For a 2nd straight week TTU found itself in unfamiliar territory trailing at the end of both the 1st Quarter (14-3) and at half time (21-17)

But like they have done many times, Texas Tech comes up of the locker room fired up and scores on the opening drive using just 3 plays before Vildor finds Rico Hatfield for his 3rd TD of of the day (27 yds) to put Texas Tech on top (24-21). The after a nice defensive stop, Vildor finds Felix Addison for a 25 yd score to make it (31-21), which is where it stayed as we head to the 4th.

Trailing by 10 going into the 4th the Hurricanes quickly erased the lead with a pair of rushing touchdowns from JR RB Brian Battles (87 ovr) as Miami retakes the lead (35-31) with 6 minutes to play in the game, but with 3.38 to play TTU cuts the lead to (35-34) as SR PK Doug Khaled hits from 42 yds out after making 1/2 attempts in the 1st half.

Miami looking to just try and run out the clock with Battles is forced to go to the air on a 3rd and 8 with 1:47 to play and SR MLB Christian Cormier is ready as he picks off SR QB L Wittek (90 ovr) for the first turnover of the game.

TTU down by just 1 and still armed with 1 timeout, works the ball into Khaled's range and with 8 seconds to play, Khaled hits a 35 yd FG to seal the Red Raiders victory and ending the Hurricanes season.

          FINAL SCORE TEXAS TECH-37 MIAMI-35

          KEY PLAYERS

          QB F. Vildor-24/35 333 yds 4 TD, 31 yds rushing

          WR B. Head-3 rec 39 yds
          TE R. Barbosa-5 rec 96 yds

          TE A. Peters-5 rec 58 yds 2 TD
          WR A. Kennedy-4 rec 54 yds

NOTRE DAME ENDS COASTAL CAROLINA'S DREAMS

Coastal Carolina trailed (17-3) at the half but tied up the game in the 4th (24-24) before the Irish like Texas Tech won it with a Field Goal in the final seconds of the game (27-24).

Coastal's SR QB Juan Bibbs was 29/47 for 271 yds with 1 TD and 2 INT well leading the team in rushing with 68 yds in the loss.

I have actually been pretty solid this year. Last year I only made 9/14 and missed every attempt over 50 yds (0/3) and was 3/5 from 40-49. Typcially anything inside 40 I feel pretty solid about.

This year DK made 25/28 including 11/11 from 40-49.. The 3 miss's were all attempts over 50.

He is a 85 Overall with 86 KPW and 87 KAC.

DEFENSE CARRY'S TTU TO 4 STRAIGHT!!!

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have officially made history as the Coach Scott leads the team to their 4th straight National Title and 5th in 6 years.

With the win, Coach Scott is currently the leader in Career Win % with 91% going 142-14 in his career with as both the OC at Boise State and HC at Texas Tech. He is 87-7 at TTU, with a 24-3 record in the playoffs and a 25-2 record against recorded school rivals.

Coach Scott is now a Level 34 with the title of Program Builder with a A+ Prestige..

                GAME RECAP

Early turnovers plagued Vildor in the 1st Quarter as the QB throws 2 more INT's but the Defense stops the Irish both times as TTU takes a (3-0) lead into the 2nd Quarter off the leg of Doug Khaled (33 yd FG).

The TTU "D" steps up forcing a fumble early in the 2nd Quarter leading to a Vildor to Hatfield 47 yd TD to make it (10-0) then 3 minutes later the duo hooks up again for TD #2 as TTU extends the lead to (17-0) but the Irish finally put together a drive with 1:13 to play in the half as they settle for a 22 yd FG to make it (17-3). Despite the 2 score lead, TTU still with all 3 timeouts drives 60 yds in the final minute to set up a 22 yd FG by Khaled to make it (20-3) at the half.

Vildor's 3rd INT of the day opened up the 2nd half but once again the Texas Tech Defense steps up limiting the Irish to just a pair of FG's as they also pick off Irish QB JR Nick Veira (90 ovr) twice.....

Still leading (20-9) as we enter the 4th, Notre Dame cuts the lead to (20-17) as Viera finds SO WR J. Kazee (82 ovr) on a 26 yd score and then converts the 2pt play to FR TE J. Telfort (80 ovr).

But with less then 2 minutes to play Vidlor extends the lead back to 2 scores as he keeps the QB keeper and takes it 2 yds for the score.. Notre Dame would turn the ball over on downs as TTU kneels out the clock.

Vildor did his best to let ND back in the game, but the D slammed the door shut.

I don't see the TTU dominance ending anytime soon with the amount of 5* recruits you're bringing in either

Offense is fun but let me say Defense is what win's championships and yes you are correct things are looking pretty dang good for the future. I think by starting Defense has like 4 Pre-Season NCAA All-Americans and like 8 are Big 12 All-Americans.

Also got lucky with early Draft entries, only 2 guy's are leaving..

                            The Schedule

TTU will play 4 of their fist 5 games this season on the road, with their first 5 games all scheduled against teams in the Top-25 Preseason Rankings to start the year.

TTU travels to the Alamodome to take on the #24 ranked UTSA Road Runners in Week 1, before a Week 2 rematch with #9 Alabama at Saban Field @ Bryant-Denny Stadium

TTU will play it's home opener in Week 3 vs #17 Kentucky before finishing off it's non-conference play with a trip to Beaver Stadium to take on the #10 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions.

TTU then kicks off Big 12 play in Week 5 as the travel to Amon G Carter Stadium to take on the #14 ranked TCU Horn Frogs before getting a Week 6 "Bye"

TTU returns from the Bye Week to play 3 straight at home hosting SMU, #4 Nebraska and Texas A&M in Week 7-9

Week 10 the Red Raiders are back on the road @ Oklahoma before returning home for "Senior Day" vs Texas.

Texas Tech will close out it's season with 2 road games @ Oklahoma State and @ Baylor

                            ALL-AMERICANS

Once considered to be one of the weakest part's of the Texas Tech Defense TTU now has 2 Linebackers named to the 1st Team NCAA All-American team.

JR OLB John Cushenberry- "The Former 5* finally gets a chance to be a Day 1 starter, after being a key reserve and special teams player for the past 2 seasons."

SR OLB Gideon Abedo-"A Defensive team captain, Abedo led the Red Raiders with 109 Tackles (85 solo) with 6 TFL and 7 sacks last season well also breaking up 8 Pass's. He flirted with the idea of going pro but returned and was named Team Captain by his teammates.

SR RB Netori Morton- "Morton is a Heisman favorite if he could just stay healthy. Morton had a breakout year in 2032 despite missing 5 weeks finishing with 179 carries for 1097 yds and 10 TD. Then last season he missed the final 5 weeks again returning for the playoffs, he finished with 148 carries for 742 yds with 9 TD"

SR DE Antwan Allgeirer- "Like Abedo, many though Antwan would turn Pro early, after his 3rd consecutive season with double digit sacks, finishing with a career high 14, and 38 in 3 season and like Abedo, he was named a Defensive Team Captain.

TTU also had 4 players named to the 2nd Team.

JR RB Sean Byham- "Byham broke out as a RS FR filling in for Morton with 124 carries for 818 yds and 12 TD on the ground and another 172 yds (18 rec) with 4 TD's through the air. He took a backseat to Morton and Robert last year finishing with 103 carries for 530 yds 8 TD but with Robert gone he will get the bulk of the #2 RB carries.

JR RG LaMont Marvin- A key reserve last season, Marvin made 2 starts and saw action in all 17 games giving up 2 sacks.

SO DT Kyle DeMulling- With the graduation of F. Gash, DeMulling steps into a potential starting role after a great spring (jumped 8 points)

SO CB Teddy Beckford-"Beckford started the year as the team's #2 CB last year but missed 6 weeks with a injury finishing with 33 Tackles with 1 INT and 2 Pass Deflections. With the graduation of Johnathan Baggett, he takes over as CB1.

                            BIG 12
Morton, Byham, Allegier, DeMulling, Cushenberry, Adebo, Beckford are also all named to the 1st Team Big 12 Team

Joining them are SR DE Kevin Zuber, SR DT Quantavious Rozeboom, SO FS Javon Proche and SR SS Ben Martini, giving TTU 9 Starters on Defense named to the All-Amercian team.

JR WR Felix Addison and SO WR Craig Smyth, SO LG Kona Hautau and JR RG LaMont Marvin and FR DT Earl Turbin were all named to the Big 12 (2nd Team).

Somewhat surprising was the absence of both JR QB Freddie Vildor and SR WR Rico Hatfield..

As both Nebraska SR QB Curtis Van Pelt (90 ovr) and SR Biran Mangold (89 ovr) are named National and Big 12 1st and 2nd team QB's.
Van Pelt started at Syracuse last season throwing for 2564 yds with 19 TD and 4 INT but was sacked 21 times and decided to bolt looking for a better chance at a Natty, but it was a weird call picking Nebraska where Mangold (also a former transfer from Cincinnati 3059 yds 23 yds 10 INT) has already secured the starting spot in Lincoln throwing for 2790 yds with 26 TD and 4 INT last season.

JR WR Cameron McAruther (91 over) from Nebraska is named National and Big 12 1st team, with SR WR Cante Maginn (TCU) and JR WR Deon Brookins are named to the BIg 12 1st team.

McArthur had 50 rec for 780 yds with 7 TD last year, well Maginn post 59 rec for 979 yds with 12 TD last year after having a solid Soph year with 52 rec for 717 yds and 7 TD.

                            RECRUITING

Texas Tech has just 10 Seniors on this year's roster. 4 Offensive (RB N. Morton, FB S. Bostic, WR R. Hatfield and LT J. Clemens) as well as 6 on Defense (DE's K. Zuber and A. Allgeier, DT Q. Rozeboom, OLB G. Adebo, CB J. Bias and SS B. Martini.

Reports are Coach Scott plans on limiting this year's class to 15 players, leaving room for potential transfers in the off-season if anyone chooses to leave via the Portal or NFL Draft.

                            Coach Scott
"Right now we feel really good about the depth of our team, so our main focus will be looking at future RB's to replace Morton/Byham as well as looking at our current group of Juniors (15 players) and trying to forecast who needed depth for the future." We have 43 Freshman (Red and True) with 20 on Offense and 23 on Defense, so we feel like we have done a pretty solid job the past 2 years adding 25 players with 5* Caliber talent that will help lead this team to hopefully more Natty's in our future"

That is some crazy depth you now have in Lubbock, Deuce. Congrats on the #1 class. Schedule looks pretty challenging as well this year.
