RED RAIDERS COME AWAY WITH BIG ROAD WIN!!

Texas Tech improved to 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Big 12 as they come away with a huge win over the previously unbeaten K-State Wildcats as TTU dominates on both sides of the ball once again showing why they are the defending National Champions.

    GAME RECAP

TTU wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Vildor opens the game with a 80 yd TD bomb to Hatfield to make it (7-0). The Red Raiders extended the lead to (10-0) after picking off K-State SR QB Ben Medeiros (80 ovr) leading to a 33 yd FG.

K-State would score early in the 2nd Quarter as Medeiros hit JR WR Jimmy Buck (93 ovr) a 21 yd strike to make it (10-7), but the Red Raiders answer as Vildor keeps it himself for the 1st of 2 rushing TD's on the day to extend the lead to (17-7). Another INT by the TTU "D" as RS FR SS Shawn Loudermilk makes his 1st career INT ends the Wildcats drive with 30 seconds to play in the half.

Neither team generated much offense in the 3rd Quarter as TTU extends the lead to (20-7) on another Doug Khaled FG (39 yds), well Freddie Vildor kills another scoring opportunity with his 5th INT of the season.

K-State opened up the 4th with a touchdown as Medeiros finds SO WR Dorian Atogwe on a 30 yd strike to make it (20-14) but TTU answers the call as Vildor leads a 13 play drive capped off by a 5 yd dart to JR TE Kevin Pickering.. Coach Scott would leave the offense on the field and Netori Morton takes the handoff and dives in for the 2pt play to make it a 2 score game (28-14).

Down by 2 scores Medeiros goes back to the air looking for Buck, but SR FS Adonis Denard reads the pass perfectly and comes away with the Red Raiders 3rd INT of the day.

Texas Tech then extends the lead to 3 scores as Vildor scores his 2nd rushing TD of the day to close out the game as he Redshirt Freshman goes over 100 yds rushing on the day.

    FINAL SCORE TTU-35 K-STATE-14

    KEY PLAYERS

    QB F. Vildor-15/26 (57%) 220 yds 2 TD 1 INT, 11 carries 133 yds 2 TD
    RB N. Morton-15 carries 85 yds
    WR P. Ekwonu-5 rec 99 yds
    WR R. Hatfield-3 rec 92 yds 1 TD
    WR B. Head-2 rec 15 yds
    TE K. Pickering-1 rec 5 yds 1 TD
    TTU "D"-3 INT

    IMPACT FROM THE GAME

K-State drops to #20 with the loss, well TTU extends their win streak to 19 games dating back to last year' Week 3 loss to Arkansas, as they retain the #1 ranking in the latest poll.

    UP NEXT

Texas Tech returns home to Jones AT&T to host the Texas A&M Aggies. Coach Scott is 4-0 vs TAMU since arriving at TTU.. The Aggies are (3-3) on the season opening the year (3-0) in non-conference play but are (0--3) in Big 12 play with loss's to Colorado, SMU and Baylor coming into the game on a 3 game losing streak.

RED RAIDERS DOMINATE ON AND OFF THE FIELD!!!

Texas Tech improved to (7-0) on the season and (3-0) in Big 12 play with yet another victory over TAMU handing the Aggies their 4th straight loss. The win didn't come without a cost though as TTU lost Heisman RB Netori Morton to a injury early but with TTU came away not just with a win on the field but secured 6 more commitments including 5 of them from 5* Recruits giving TTU the early lead for this year's #1 class.

      GAME RECAP

TTU opened up the game with running the ball, and but lost Morton just 2 plays in (Partial MCL Tear expected to miss the next 6-7 weeks). With Morton in the locker room Redshirt Freshman Sean Byham lead the way, as the former 5* puts TTU in the endzone on a 5 yd score to make it (7-0).

The Texas Tech offense explodes in the 2nd Quarter as TTU finds the endzone 4 times including a WR Brian Head's 2nd rushing TD of the season as the RS FR takes it 61 yds on a jet sweep to make it (14-0).. Then it was the Freddie Vildor show as the 5* QB goes off throwing 3 TD's including 1 to Head (53 yds) and 2 to Prince Ekwonu who continues to provide the young QB with a great set of hands.

Trailing (35-0), TAMU does manage to open up the 2nd half scoring their only touchdown on the day as SR QB Kaseem Monk (80 ovr) hits SO TE Sammy Koroma (80 ovr) on a 14 yd strike. to make it (35-7).

For Monk it would be a day he hopes to soon forget as the Senior finshed the day just 10/23 (43%) for 82 yds, well being sacked 3 times.

The Red Raiders and Freddie Vildor were not done though as Vildor throws TD #4 to Rico Hatfield late in the 4th Quarter to close out the victory.

      FINAL SCORE TTU-42 TAMU-7

      KEY PLAYERS
      QB- Freddie Vildor-22/30 (73%) 300 yds 4 TD (sacked 5 times) 16 yds rushing

      WR R. Hatfield-4 rec 51 yds 1 TD

          IT'S OFFICIAL!!!

With 3 straight Big 12 titles, and 3 National Championships in 4 years, you can say that Coach Scott has officially built a Dynasty here in Lubbock. Armed with a roster that boast 3 Top-5 recruiting class's including the #1 Overall just 2 years ago, Texas Tech has become the destination choice by not just every high school Texas football player but players across the nation.

          Coach Scott
"When I came here to TTU, my #1 goal was to build this program from within. Texas builds up some of the best high school football players in the country and this year was no different as 5* DT Gordon Teamer from Pearland earns the #1 Overall status in this year's class.. He was our #1 target from day one and we are exctied to announce he will be a Red Raider"
With former 5* DT Enrique Nunn (89 ovr) and converted DE Fatiele Gash (87 ovr) both in their Junior season and both getting potential looks at a early entry in the NFL draft, landing a potential Day 1 starter was huge and Teamer is that guy. Teamer turned down scholarship offers from Texas, TAMU and TCU as well as Oklahoma and Ohio State.

But Teamer wasn't the only 5* DT to sign, as TTU also secures the commitment from 5* Earl Turbin (#13 Overall/#1 PA/#5 DT). Listed at 6'2 316 lbs from New Castle PA, Turbin had scholarship offers to Wisconsin, Pitt, Penn State, Ohio State and Oregon.

TTU and Coach Scott where not done though as Texas Tech lands not just 1 more 5* but 3 more giving TTU 8 early commitments on the year.

          Joining the class are

5* CB Miguel Trevino (#29 Overall/#7 TX/#3 CB) from Mesquite TX.
5* DE Jesus Castillo (#5 Overall/#2 TX/#1 DE) from Tyler TX
5* RB Ezekiel Warmack (#10 Overall/#4 TX/#2 RB) from Rowlett TX.

Joining the Fab 5 of 5* to round out the the 6 player day, is 4* LT Kenya Sowells (#52 Overall/#2 WI/#2 LT) from Milwaukee Wisconsin. Sowells had Boise State as his #2 school with the Bagders also in his Top-3.

          Coach Scott
"I think it's safe to say our D-Line just got a major upgrade in depth and a future dominating line that will consists of 4-5* All-Americans. Also adding 2-5* RB's to our already extremely talented RB room is going to push our current guy's (Morton/Byham/Roberts) to be even better. I am excited for what this means for our offense and our ability to continue to be the #1 Offense in the nation year in and year out"

            4TH QUARTER COMEBACK!!!

            GAME RECAP

Nebraska came into the game looking for revenge on the Red Raiders after a historic season last year that saw the Cornhuskers drop 3 games to TTU and for 33 minutes it looked they had accomplished their goal.

Nebraska did something no other team had tried so far this season and that was to make Freddie Vildor beat them. The Cornhuskers loaded the box rushing anywhere from 6-7 defenders at times and the move paid off as Nebraksa jumpes out to a early (7-0) lead in the 1st Quarter and led (14-7) at the half as Vildor is sacked 5 times well throwing his 6th INT of the season..

The Cornhuskers added to their lead early in the 4th Quarter making it (21-7) with 10 minutes to play in the game, but Texas Tech flipped the switch as Vildor leads TTU to 21 unanswered points throwing a pair of TD's to RS SO Rico Hatfield as well as a 12 yd TD to former QB/converted TE Ramon Barbosa with 48 seconds to play as Texas Tech survives the upset and keeps their winning streak alive.

            FINAL SCORE TEXAS TECH-28 NEBRASKA-21

            KEY PLAYERS

            QB F. Vildor-25/32 396 yds 4 TD 1 INT, sacked 5 times, 37 yds rushing

            TE R. Barbosa-1 rec 12 yds

            IMPACT FROM THE GAME[/U]

With the win, TTU remains #1 in the rankings moving to 8-0 Overall and 4-0 in Big 12 play. Nebraska falls to #12 in the rankings and is now (6-2) Overall and (3-2) in Big 12 play falling 1 game back of Colorado for the division lead with 3 conference games to play.

            UP NEXT

Texas Tech will head to Norman Oklahoma to take on the #10 ranked Sooners. Oklahoma is (7-1) on the season and (4-1) in Big 12 play coming off a (31-23) loss to instate rival Oklahoma State in Week 9. This game will be TTU's 3rd game vs Top-25 opponents in the past 4 weeks.

                  SOONERS CROWD IS SILENCED!!!

Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium is considered the #4 most difficult place to play in the nation for away teams, but #1 Texas Tech silenced the crowd tonight defeating the #10 ranked Sooners in a blowout from start to finish.

                  GAME RECAP

Texas Tech jumped out to a early (14-0) lead in the 1st Quarter as QB Freddie Vildor throws for 1 score (B. Head 36 yds) and runs for another (27 yds).

TTU then went on to score 3 more times in the 2nd Quarter taking a (35-0) lead leaving the crowd stunned, as former 5* RS FR RB Sean Byham runs for 1 score (14 yds) and catches another (29 yds).

TTU opened up the 2nd half with the ball and quickly added to their lead as Vildor throws TD #3 hitting Rico Hatfield for a 38 yd bomb to make it (42-0).

Oklahoma finally got on the scoreboard after a 58 yd INT return by SO SS Malachi Droege (85 ovr), RS FR QB David Soria (80 ovr) hits JR WR George Efaw (76 ovr) on a 25 yd strike to make it (42-7) as we head to the 4th.

The Red Raiders playing their 2nd and 3rd string for the entire 4th Quarter were still running wild over the Oklahoma "D" adds to their lead midway through the 4th as 3rd string RB Jaylen Kalu scores his 1st career TD with a 48 yd run up the middle to make it (49-7) for 6 minutes to play. Then with 2:12 to play Week 1 starter Stetson Hollman would connect with 3rd string TE Demarco Awosika for his first career score (2 yds) as Texas Tech closes out the victory..

It's funny I really thought Hollman was going to be my starter. I knew I wanted to get Vildor reps, but I was pretty set with the idea of Hollman being a 1 year starter who could put up huge #'s. Instead Vildor came in and quietly took the job and just kept it and now he is playing great.

I just finished the Texas game, and the kid is putting up Heisman type #'s despite the fact we have had 5 of our 10 games with over 200+ yards rushing. I don't think he will every throw for 5000+ yards in a season or 60+ TD's in a year like GNK, but the kid is going to leave his mark for sure.

A combo of both. Nebraska completely changed the way they were playing Defense in the 4th Quarter. The first 3 quarters they were rushing guy's from everywhere with their DB's playing Man coverage, but for some reason I couldn't get anyone open, unless I ran a slant pattern. 3 sacks were just all out blitz plays I had no chance and the other 2 were me trying to scramble but didn't get back to the line.

Then I don't know if it was them having the lead or what, but they switched up and started playing some zone and were only rushing 4 most of the time and I was able to get some guy's open deep that set up those scores. Honestly if they had stayed doing what they did for the first 3 Quarters they would've won..

                        ANOTHER 4TH QUARTER COMEBACK!!

When it comes to Texas vs Texas Tech, you can just throw out the records, because you know both teams are going to give you 110% and this one turned into a barn burner.. 9 Seniors were honored before the game and all 9 got a chance to start, as SR QB Stetson Hollman led the Red Raiders onto the field.

Hollman's 3rd start of the season, was his shortest. Hollman would complete just 3/8 pass's on the opening drive before ending the drive with his 4th INT of the season leading to Texas taking the early (7-0) lead as JR CB Juean Galippo turns the INT into a "Pick 6" going 31 yds for the score

TTU would battle back though as Vildor hits Prince Ekwonu on a 22 yd strike to tie the game (7-7) and then a Doug Khaled 42 yd FG make its (10-7) as we head to the 2nd Quarter.

Texas would retake the lead (14-10) early in the 2nd as SR QB Marco Valasco (88 ovr) throws his 1st TD of the day hitting JR WR Sean Henry (90 ovr) for a 68 yd bomb. Then after a quick 3 and out, it was Valasco keeping it himself and scoring on 56 yd QB keeper to make it (21-10) with 6 minutes to play in the half.

TTU cut the lead to (21-13) as Khaled kicks a 43 yd FG and then it was SR CB Brian Castillo coming up big as he picks off Valasco to help set up a 18 yd TD strike from Vildor to Hatfield to make it (21-19). Coach Scott left the offense on the field as Vildor hits Head for the 2pt play to tie the game (21-21).

Texas opened up the 2nd half with the ball an Valasco quickly leads the team down the field for his 3rd TD of the day as he hits SO WR Nick Napolitano (82 ovr) on a 17 yd score capping a 11 play drive to make it (28-21).

Vildor however wastes little time as he finds Sean Byham out of the backfield for a 22 yd score to tie the game (28-28). Valasco answers back though as he throws TD #4 hitting SR TE Taj Hurtado (72 ovr) to cap a 6 play drive giving the Longhorns the (35-28) lead as we head to the 4th.

TTU opens up the 4th Quarter with a healthy dose of Sean Byham as the RS FR delivers with a 17 yard TD capping a 9 play drive in which he picks up 68 yds out of the 80 it took to score.

Byham was far from done though after a Ben Martini INT off Valasco, Byham carries the ball 4 times picking up 32 yds before adding his 2nd TD reception of the day giving him a 3 TD hat trick as TTU makes it (42-35) still with 8 minutes to play.

Texas not giving up ties the game as Valasco and Henry hook up for their 2nd TD connection on the day to make it (42-42) still with 6 minutes to play.

Looking to run out some clock, TTU runs by Byham and Robert all over the Longhorn D as TTU goes over 200 yds on the ground capped by Roberts 10 yd TD run to give the Red Raiders the (49-42) lead with 3:12 to play.

Valasco already with 4 TD leads the Longhorns down the field and inside the redzone all way down to the 2 yd line but facing a 4th and 2, Valasco pass to Henry is picked off for a 3rd INT on the day as SR SS Hakeem Obada saves the Red Raiders from a potential overtime time period.

Leading (49-42) with under 2 minutes to play, most assumed TTU would just run out the clock, but after 3 succesfull1st down runs by Byham and Robert, TTU shocks the stadium and those watching at home as Vildor connects with JR TE Kevin Pickering on a 18 yd strike with 12 seconds to play..

                        Coach Scott
"I know alot of people are probably 2nd guessing my decision to not only let Vildor pass with under 2 minutes to play and the 7 point lead, but to actually go for the score might seem like we were rubbing the Longhorns nose in it, but to be honestly, Texas played a great game and had it down to to the wire. I really thought the game was going to Overtime, but Obada came up big and saved the day. This game was about honoring players playing their last game in front of the home crowd, and well we only have 9 Seniors, we have a very talented group of Juniors with 3 or 4 guy's who are heading NFL Day 1 Draft Buzz and 1 of those guy's is TE Kevin Pickering who is projected as high as a 1st Round pick, so to be honest part of me just wanted to get him 1 more score in front of the home crowd because tonight could be his last game here too.

RED RAIDERS MAKING HISTORY OFF THE FIELD AS WELL AS ON!!!

3 Straight Big 12 titles and 3 National Titles in the past 4 years riding a 23 game winning streak since Week 4 of last season and a 67-5 record since Coach Scott arrived in Lubbock, has made TTU the #1 destination for high school recruits across the nation most most importantly those hailing from the state of Texas.

Still with 2 weeks to go in the regular season, it appears that Coach Scott and the TTU recruiting team have pretty much wrapped up their season as they secure 7 more commitments including a pair of 5* Recruits bringing this year's total to 20 (10-5* and 10-4*). The Class is currently ranked #1 with a score of 271.75.

                          Ohio State is #2 (1-5*, 16-4*), well Miami FL is #3 (4-5*, 8-4*, 1-3*)

                          Joining team are

5* DE Calvin Dalton (#27 Overall/#6 TX/#5 DE) from Lurfkin TX and 5* Kenyon Canaday (#8 Overall/#1 IL/#2 DE) from Lombard IL as well a 4* DT Kona Okada (#38 Overall/#1 WA/#9 DT) from Yelm WA. These 3 now give Coach Scott 7 incoming recruits for a D-Line that has been having a record setting season in terms of sacks already.

TTU also added a pair of 4* for the secondary as 4* CB John Masifilo (#65 Overall/#12 TX/#7 CB) and 4* FS Max Worthy (#76 Overall/#13 TX/#5 FS) are both joining.

Coach Scott wasn't done there though as a bring in 4* QB Raekwon Segal (#125 Overall/#6 MD/#4 QB) as well as RT Nick Longoria (#91 Overall/#15 TX/#6 RT).

                          TTU also landed a trio of 4* WR's and a 4* TE

                          6'4 Tye Tompkins (#39 Overall #2 LA/#3 WR)
                          6'3 Isaac Trapp (#53 Overall #9 TX/#7 WR)
                          6'2 Ben Magana (#54 Overall/#10 TX/#8 WR)

                          6'2 Donald Chancey (#97 Overall/#5 PA/#7 TE)

Early season reports, recorded Coach Scott stating he was looking to secure a 20 player class, with 2 open roster spots plus 9 Seniors as well as potential Transfers and Early NFL entries. However reports are Coach Scott still has 5 scholarships offered to players including 1 more 5* Recruit in WR Carl Chunn (#6 Overall/#1 GA/#1 WR). The 6'5 203lb Riverdale GA native currently has TTU #1 but has scholarship offers from West Virginia, Nebraska, UConn, Notre Dame, Purdue, Georgia and Memphis but has yet to narrow his list of schools from 8.

                          Coach Scott
"We are extremely excited about this year's class. Obviously we have landed some pretty amazing talent here (Top-20 every year, Top-5 the past 3 years and a previous #1 class) but this year's class is one that will be for the record books. We will have some tough decisions to make next year especially at WR if Chunn ends of signing but we believe this class will help us continue to reload with the type of talent to compete for National Titles every year.."

Texas Tech got some reinforcement's for today's came as 5* RS FR WR Felix Addison and 5* RS JR CB John Baggett make their return after missing the past 6 weeks with injuries, and Addison wasted little time making his presence known.

                            GAME RECAP

TTU opened up the game and the scoring as Vildor hits Felix Addison for a 42 yd bomb to put the Red Raiders up (7-0) early, then with 2:38 to play after a John Baggett INT, Texas Tech extended the lead as Vildor hits fellow 5* WR Brian Head on a 23 yd score to make it (14-0).

                            Coach Scott
"It was good to see both John and Felix make some plays early in the game as they both look to help us finish strong."

Hitting the trifecta, Vildor finds another former 5* RS SO WR Rico Hatfield on a 10 yd score to make it (21-0) with 3:30 to play in the 1st half and for the icing in the cake TTU makes it (24-0) as Doug Khaled kicks a 45 yd FG to 1:15 to play as the Red Raiders head into the locker room up by 24.

Oklahoma State opened up the 2nd with with the ball and settled for a 49 yd FG by Clayton Cantrell just to get points on the board (24-3). But with 5:59 to play in the 3rd, it was Vildor to Addison for their 2nd hookup of the day (10 yds) as TTU extends the lead to (31-3).

A Vildor INT with 3 minutes to play in the 3rd leads to Oklahoma State's first TD of the day, as JR QB Peter Gibbs (82 ovr) hits JR TE Matt Landry (80 ovr) for a 12 yd score to make it (31-10).

Moving to the 4th, Vildor and Addison hook back up for their 3rd TD's of the day (9 yds) as TTU extends the lead to (38-10).. Oklahoma State never giving up manages another score as SR RB Joel Yates (80 ovr) takes it in from 13 yds out after the OSU Defense picks off Vildor for a 2nd time in the game to make it (38-17) but Vildor and Addison were not done as the duo hooks up for TD #4 (12 yds) as Texas Tech cruises to win #11..

Texas Tech will close out it's regular season the same way they have the previous 4 years, playing the Baylor Bears in Week 13. Unlike last year, Baylor has struggled this season going just (3-8) Overall and just 1-6 in Big 12 play.

Even if Baylor manages to upset the Red Raiders, TTU's win over Oklahoma State has secured them the Big 12 North Title for the 4th straight year.

                            Coach Scott
"Our goal remains the same week in and week out. Take care of business with the team in front of you. If we look past Baylor and start focusing on the Big 12 title game or the playoffs, that's when upsets happen.

VILDOR MAKES STATEMENT IN HEISMAN PUSH!!

With rumors of TTU QB "GNK" potentially turning pro after his Junior season, 5* Recruit and Ontario California native Freddie Vildor accepted TTU's offer to following in his footsteps taking the reigns and leading TTU for the next 4 years.

Instead Vildor's first season in Lubbock was a view from the sidelines as he redshirted and watched GNK lead the Red Raiders to their 3r National Championship well winning his 2nd Heisman award.

Vildor then watched as Senior QB Stetson Hollman started Week 1 and threw for 7 Touchdowns in TTU's 63-0 victory over Wyoming.

But Vildor knew, once he got his moment to shine he wasn't giving it back and well Vildor's freshman season hasn't been as stat filling (5000+ yds and 60 TD's) as GNK, today's performance just showed the world he could actually be the best QB to ever suit up for the Red Raiders and that list includes 1 Patrick Mahomes.

                              GAME RECAP

Texas Tech opened up the game scoring on a 39 yd TD run by RB Sean Byham (his 8th of the season) to take a early (7-0) lead but then the game become all about Freddie Vildor as the Redshirt Freshman scores a record 8 TD's (4 passing and 4 rushing) to guide TTU to a perfect 12-0 season.

Vildor completed pass's of 51 yds to Brian Head, as well as a pair of TD's to TE Kevin Pickering (25 and 23) to give TTU the (28-0) lead at the half.

Vildor then used his feet for 2 rushing TD's in the 3rd Quarter including a 43 yd scamper on 3rd and 8 to make it (42-0) as we head to the 4th.

Baylor finally manages to get on the scoreboard to open the 4th after SO QB Sateki Vakapuna stops throwing the ball to Red Raider defenders (3 earlier INT's) as he hits TE R. Long on a 2 yd score to finish the night 12/29 for 111 yds with 1 TD and 3 INT.

For Vildor he wasn't done as he adds 2 more rushing scores as he finishes the day over 100 yds for the 2nd time this season extending Texas Tech's lead to (56-7) and then with 1:12 to play Vildor hits Byham out of the backfield for a 13 yd score.

WEEK 13 AROUND THE NATION RECAP

Week 13 offered some major impact to the Top-25 Rankings as several teams played their way into a potential playoff spot well others potentially played their way out.

#4 (9-2) Oregon met #6 (10-1) Washington in a Pac-12 North showdown with the Division title on the line and a probable Top-4 seed as well, with the Huskies coming away from Eugene with the (28-25) victory as Oregon drops to #5 well the Huskies climb to #3.

#3 (9-2) Nebraska closed out their season with a non-conference matchup with rival (9-2) Iowa and the Hawkeyes picked up the (52-41) upset win dropping the Cornhuskers to #10 with the loss.

Nebraska wasn't the only one to fall in Week 13 from the Big 12, as #7 (9-2) Kansas State also lost falling to Houston (31-21) as the Wildcats drop to #15 and are most likely out of any chance at a playoff spot.

#18 Colorado however was on the opposite end. The Buff's also entered Week 13 at (9-2) and won beating New Mexico State (37-3) for their 10th win of the season as they jump 5 spots to #13 giving them a outside shot at a At-Large bid as Nebraska holds the tie breaker and will still play TTU for the Big 12 title.

CUSA saw both of their Top-10 teams lose in Week 13 as #5 (11-0) Tennessee's perfect season is over after a (36-31) loss to instate rival Vanderbilt, dropping the Vols to #17.

#8 (10-1) Louisville followed suit losing to instate rival Kentucky (38-13) as they drop all the way to #20.

Several teams came out winners in Week 13 as they move up into the Top-12 as they look to position themselves for a seat at the playoff table.

#9 Duke jumped 5 spots to #4 as they finish the year (10-2) with a 27-24 win over Charlotte.
