      YOUR FINAL 12

With the Power 4 Conference Champs (Ohio State-Big Ten, FIU-ACC, K-State-Big 12 and Oklahoma-SEC) all securing Top-4 seeds that left #5 American Conference Champion Purdue to host the #12 seed.

This year's #12 seed will be (10-3) Virginia Tech

The ACC Championship runner up secures the final spot in the playoffs over (10-2) Wisconsin, (10-3) TCU as well as a trio of team's at (9-3), Penn State/Georgia Tech and Ole Miss as well as La Tech who finished (11-2).

#4 Washington's loss to Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship dropped them to #6 in the rankings and with it they secure the #6 seed.

#5 LSU dropped to #7 after falling to Oklahoma in the SEC Championship and with it they secure the #7 seed.

The Final 4 seeds all went to teams who didn't play in their Conference Championships..

(9-3) Alabama held onto the #8 spot in the ranking securing the #8 seed.. They will play (10-2) Texas Tech who secures the #9 seed as the #9 ranked team in the poll's.

(10-2) Notre Dame's loss to Washington in Week 13 sent them to #10 in the rankings and that's where they finished and as the #10 team they secure the #10 seed

(9-3) Cincinnati finished the year ranked #11 and that is the seed they will have as the Bearcats give the Big Ten a 4th team in the playoffs.

Here is a look at the matchups

#12 Virginia Tech @ #5 Purdue with the winner facing #4 Oklahoma

#9 Texas Tech @ #8 Alabama with the winner facing #1 Ohio State

      #11 Cincinnati @ #6 Washington with the winner facing #3 K-State

#10 Notre Dame @ #7 LSU with the winner facing #2 FIU

OHIO STATE'S MATT MILLER NAMED COACH OF THE YEAR!!!

Last year FIU's Barry Valdez edged out Ohio State's Matt Miller for the Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Award, but this time the honor goes to Miller who well accepting his award announced his plans to sign a 5 year extension with the Buckeyes turning down job offers from Georgia and Texas as well as rumors of offers from Florida and Nebraska (OC jobs).

Miller however could be rebuilding his entire staff this off-season.. OC Damone Sneed joined Miller at the Award Show accepting the Broyles Award given to the Best Coordinator in the nation. The Buckeyes Offense in Sneed's first season at the helm, posted a Nation leading 6858 yds with 3269 yds through the air and a nation leading 3543 yds on the ground well averaging 47.1 PPG and picking up a national leading 369 1st Downs.

Reports are both OC D. Sneed and Defensive Coordinator Cornell Sneed are top targets for several teams this season..

        Coach Miller
"I will never hold guy's on my staff back from taking HC jobs.. It was my dream to become a HC and I totally understand their dreams as well.. All I ask is they stay and help us get 3 more win's before they go. I personally am excited to be returning to Columbus.. We have a great team that will be back next year plus another Top-5 potentially #1 Recruiting Class.. I appreciate both Texas and Georgia for reaching out but Ohio State offers everything you would ever want in a program to build your career around. I don't feel Ohio State a place to build my resume but a place to become Legendary.."
        THE ROAD TO THE NATTY

The Buckeyes despite being the #1 seed will have a tough matchup in Round 2.. Nobody wants to play Alabama no matter where the venue is.. Miller only has 21 loss's in his career and the Tide are responsible for 2 of them.

        RECRUITING

Ohio State will go into the Playoffs with just 2 players left on their Big Board with with 15 players already committed, opening the door for Miller to add several transfers from the Portal this off-season. Right now the class of 15 (6-5*, 9-4*) is ranked #4.

WILL DE LA ROSA LEADS THE BUCKES TO THE PROMISE LAND

For Freshman Nick De La Rosa, Year 1 has been a series of high's and low's.. De La Rosa enters the playoffs with 2975 yds well completing 56% of his pass's well throwing 31 TD's and 20 INT's. He also has shown his ability to run with 5 rushing TD's.

        TAM STILL CHASING RECORD

RS SO Fredrick Tam goes into the playoffs with 23 TD's and is 3 away from breaking Pete Johnson's record of 25 set in 1975. He is also 10 shy of Matching Monte Ball's (Wisconsin) Big Ten Record of 33 set in 2011.. It will be interesting to see how many opportunities Tam will see in the playoffs.

        TANDY/LOWE

RS SO Ezekiel Tandy has produced 21 rec for 260 yds (12.4 avg) with 5 TD's (tied for 3rd most on team) since returning from a injury that saw him miss the entire 2033 season and the first 8 games of this season..

RS FR D'Angelo Lowe has been out of action since Week 2 but returned last week for the Big Ten Championship catching a touchdown.. Lowe has just 5 receptions on the season but 3 of those have gone for TD's and his he averaging 35.0 yds per catch (5/175) giving Miller another big play option in the playoffs.

PEREZ WINS LB OF THE YEAR

For a 2nd year in a row, John Perez has been named the "Best LB" in the country and was named the "Defensive Player of the Year". The Junior has 43 Tackles on the season with 8 TFL and once again is leading the Buckeyes with 12 sacks giving him 3 straight year's of double digits.

          KENNEDY WINS THE HEISMAN

RS SO WR Devin Kennedy takes home the Heisman giving FIU back to back players with the award as last year's winner JR QB Kevin Pounds finished 4th in this year's voting.

Kennedy also took home "Offensive Player of the Year" honors as well finishing the regular season with 67 rec for 1152 yds and 16 TD's through the air. Kennedy also had 11 carries for 165 yds and 2 TD.

Kevin Pounds finished with 3731 yds with 43 TD and 16 INT well completing 68% of his pass's. Pounds also had 495 yds with 8 TD's on the ground.

          OC Clayton Dees
"KP had another great year and I am a little surprised he finished 4th.. Don't get me wrong DK had a great year in a very crowded ant talented WR room (D. Boenzi has 65 rec 938 yds 6 TD, well Ian Kamula has 51 rec for 856 yds and 12 TD)"
          ST PIERRE WINS LOMBARDI

Kennedy wasn't the only Panther to bring home some hardware from the Award show, as JR DE Kerry St Pierre wins the Lombardi as well as the the title of "Best DE".. The former 5* is expected to be a 1st Round Draft pick in the upcoming draft. He has 41 Tackles with 8 TFL and a team leading 13 Sacks this season.

          DEE'S TURNS DOWN CLEMSON

OC Clayton Dees in just his 3rd year as the Panthers OC has quickly established himself as one of the Best Offensive Play callers in the nation as FIU again finished #2 in the nation behind Ohio State with 6277 yds of Total Offense (3879 yds passing, 2336 yds rushing ) well averaging 44.5 PPG.

Well several smaller programs offered, like JMU, La Tech, Western Kentucky, the big surprise was Clemson offering to make Dee's the youngest HC of a Power 4 program in the country.. The Tigers are coming off a very disappointing (4-8) season that saw them average just 26.6 PPG. and rush for just 714 yds with just 2 TD's on the ground.

          Dee's-
I think as a kid, I would say Clemson ranked in my Top-10 as schools I dreamed of playing for and I think for anyone who goes into coaching I would say it's a Top-10 if not Top-5 program you would want to have a opportunity to lead, but I felt like my time at FIU was not ready to come to a end.. I believe we have a excellent shot at making a run back to the the Natty and I think we got a excellent shot at it next year too should KP return which from the conversations I have had with him seems almost 100%"
          PLAYOFF PICTURE

Like Ohio State, FIU's road back to the Natty will be tough. LSU and Notre Dame both spent time this season ranked in the Top-4 and either would probably be the Panthers toughest game of the season.

          RECRUITING

The Panthers were busy these past 2 weeks signing 6 players including 5* RT Isaiah Cormier (#23 Overall/#1 NM/#3 DE) as well as 4-4* including TE Robert Bowles (#122 Overall) and WR Jimmy Regis (#197) both rated in the Top-200.

With the singings, FIU now has 17 commitments with 2 players left on their Big Board. The 17 players Class (5-5*, 11-4*, 1-3*) currently ranks #1 in the country.

Ohio State FIU rematch still alive!

Solid move by Dees to stay. He could have success at Clemson, but if he struggled early he'd be run out of town. Better to stay at FIU and keep producing, then maybe get a shot to takeover in a few years.

As you mentioned, tough draw in round 2 regardless of who emerges. Would be interesting it Texas Tech made it through, I don't believe you've played them in this one after leading them to so many titles as Coach Scott have you?

Yeah, Dees also got a offer to TCU. I looked at their roster and just felt like it was too good. Same with Clemson. They have high 80's at QB, RB and WR, so not really much of a rebuild on Offense and felt like I would be able to win to quickly.

You are correct I haven't played TTU wifh either school.. FIU had only so many non conference games cause we are still playing FAU, and I have been sorta sticking to playing other Florida schools.

So far at Ohio State I have played Texas and Texas A&M, so I would like to put TTU on the schedule at some point, so it would be fun to play them but I think Alabama will most likely pull it off

I am not sure.. I feel my loyalty lies more with Coach Miller but I do like the idea. I have never done it so it might be something to try snd if I don't like the results I can always go back and play it

No Miami in the way this time around - maybe this is the year we get the OSU/FIU showdown. Looking forward to seeing how the playoffs pan out and what you do if we do get OSU/FIU for the natty!

We had a OSU/FIU Natty 2 years ago. With Miller leading the Buckeyes to the title. (I played as OSU). If it happens this year I might have to watch it. Not sure yet. Obviously have FIU going for back to back is huge but I really feel like this Dynasty really belongs to Coach Miller. With FIU and Dees just being added bonus content at this point

My bad, forgot they already met for the natty once before. Yeah, there's a lot of storylines in that potential matchup, but I agree with you that this is a Coach Miller dynasty and that's who I would control (if you do choose to control one of the teams) if we get to that.

                              GAME RECAP

Turnovers and Drop Pass's doomed the Buckeyes in the 2nd half as #8 Seed Alabama pulls off the upset handing #1 Seed Ohio State their first loss of the season and knocking the Buckeyes out of the playoffs..

Ohio State trailed at the end of the 1st Quarter and with 1:06 to play in the 2nd Quarter found themselves trailing 28-14, but 96 yd Kickoff return by D'Angelo Lowe brought life back to the Buckeye sideline..

Alabama rather then just running out the clock goes to the air and SO SS Greg Robinson makes SR QB Juan Atwood pay as he picks off the pass and returns it to the 5 yd line to set up Fredrick Tam's 24th TD of the season as Ohio State ties the game (28-28) as we headed to the locker room.

Ohio State started the 2nd half with the ball but 3 straight drop pass's would force a punt and Alabama never looked back as the Tide take the lead on a 69 yd TD pass from Atwood to Kyree Tolson to make it (35-28)..

Freshman QB Nick De La Rosa would then throw back to back INT's with the first one setting up a 1 yd TD run by Matt Cargile to make it (42-28) and then INT #2 turns into a "Pick 6" as CB Mitch Qualls takes it 48 yds to the house to make it (49-28) as we head into the 4th.

Drop passes continued to plague the Buckeyes receivers.. OSU would have 9 total drop pass' on the day including 3 by JR Nick Tull on wide open throws down the sideline that could've been scores.

                              Coach Miller
"It was tough to watch.. I can't remember the last time I have seen so many drop pass's.. You can't win games like that.. It forced way to many long 3rd downs and several 4th downs that we were just unable to convert"

Redshirt Freshman Gabe Cobb (2 drops) would manage to hold onto a bomb over the middle and take it 49 yds to the house to make it (49-35) with just over 7 minutes to play in the game but Alabama did a great job milking the clock with a 12 play drive before settling on a 41 yd FG with 3:43 to play to make it a 3 score game.

De La Rosa would throw a 3rd INT in the final minute of the game never giving up..

With Ohio State out of the playoffs, fan's won't be able to see a Ohio State/FIU matchup for a 2nd year in a row, but on the bright side with the Buckeyes out of the playoffs, FIU could now be considered a favorite to repeat ..

                                GAME RECAP

Once again the Panthers Defense comes up big when they needed it most, as FIU picks off Notre Dame JR QB Bruce Louis 3 times in the game including 2 in the 4th quarter to seal their 30th straight win dating back to last year's perfect 16-0 record as they move to 14-0 on the season.

On paper one would think the Irish won the game as they had higher Total Yards, more 1st Downs and a better TOP, but the 3 turnovers were the killer.

Well Kevin Pounds 239 yds and 3 TD's don't look that impressive his 22/28 day showcased the JR QB making sure to not force the play when it wasn't there. Notre Dame's rush Defense played the Panther run game the best that anyone has done all year holding FIU to a season low 63 yds on the ground but at the end of the day there is really only 2 #'s that matter..
