Huge win against USC. Once again De La Rosa staves off the backup for another week. Maybe Coach Miller should refrain from naming a starter for each game, seemed to motivate him lol

      GAME RECAP

FIU jumped out to a (7-0) lead in the 1st Quarter but with less then a minute to play in the 1st half, Kevin Pounds would throw his 2nd INT of the game this time the Hokies "D" turns it into a "Pick 6" as G. Countess takes it back 25 yds to the house to give Virginia Tech the (14-13) lead but Pounds would rebound from the turnover leading the Panthers down field in the final 30 seconds to setup a Trevor Costanzo 30 yd FG to give FIU the (16-14) lead going into the half.

Virginia Tech opened up the 2nd half with the ball but would fumble giving FIU a opportunity to extend their lead to (23-14) midway through the 3rd Quarter.
A big Defensive stop by the Panthers then forced V.T. to settle for a 31 yd FG giving FIU the (23-17) lead going into the 4th.

FIU again would extend their lead as Pounds finds Edward Marshall on a 29 yd scoring strike to make it (29-17), FIU would leave the offense on the field to convert the 2pt play making it a 2 score game (31-17).

The Hokies would cut the lead to (31-23) with 4:38 to play in the game and for some reason Virginia Tech elects to go for the 2pt play and fails leaving it a 8 point game. But FIU wasn't done as 3rd string RB Keary Byler scores his first career touchdown with a 3 yd score to extend the lead to (38-23) with just over 2 minutes to play.

The Hokies would then turn the ball over on downs as FIU takes over and tacks on a late FG to seal the victory.

      UP NEXT

The Blue Devils are currently 6-0 as well and ranked #13... They also still have (4-2) USF on the road and Miami at Hard Rock Stadium in Week 13.. The Hurricanes like Duke and FI U are also currently undefeated at 6-0 and are ranked #17.

I am not going to lie, I was shocked.. USC's ranks #19 in Stadium strength so we had squiggly lines all game... He did good (or I did) and it helped that we had the ground game going.. Still got another tough road game this week @ Washington, so we will see. I looked and well Diabate doesn't have as strong of a arm he does have better Deep Ball Accuracy..... He is also a slightly better runner, so I think for now De La Rosa keeps the job probably until the throws multiple picks in a game.

Right now our schedule is pretty brutal.. After Washington we have #10 (4-2) Purdue, #2 (6-0) Notre Dame and (4-3) Pitt all at home then #5 (6-1) Penn State and #6 (6-0) Oregon on the road to close out the year..

Just to get a look ahead I simmed to see what would jobs came open and who might leave early and OSU actually ended up losing 4 of their last 6 games, but the CPU loves upsets..

          BUCKEYES LAND FIRST 5* RECRUIT

After signing a nation's best (6) 5* Recruits last season, this year has been a slow start for the Buckeyes as well as the Panthers.

Ohio State did manage to snag 5* DE Levi Popek (#6 Overall/#3 TX/#1 DE) away from FIU and Texas Tech but they also lost 4 of their Top 6 players off their Big Board (All 5*)

5* FS Mario Cardoza (#5 Overall/#2 TX/#1FS) signed with Alabama

5* CB Tyler Whiteheart (#14 Overall/#6 GA/#1 CB) signed with Tennessee

5* DE Maliau Rea (#21 Overall/#2 MD/#3 DE) signed with Maryland

5* DT Jeremy Trahan (#25 Overall/#2 VA/#6 DT) signed with Virginia Tech

The Buckeyes still have a Trio of 5* left on their Big Board.

          5* WR Joe Wilbur (#7 Overall/#1 MD/#1 WR)
          5* OLB Afa Cummings (#19 Overall#2MI/#1 OLB)
          5* RB Desean Pryor (#31 Overall/#3 FL/#2 RB)

          Coach Miller
"I can't be super upset with the guy's signing elsewhere.. So far other then Cardoza the other guy's have signed with hometown/instate teams... We still have 18 players left on our big board and 12-13 scholarships to hand out so I feel like we are still in a solid spot to end with a Top-10 class.. Will it be Top-3? Probably not but it's okay.."
          Ohio State also signed 3* Punter Denton Herrman (#650 Overall/#17 PA/#4 P)..

The current class ranked #25 Overall Nationally and #4 in the Big Ten.

Exactly what I was thinking too, lol. Glad De La Rosa was able to put together an excellent game, but it probably also complicated things for you because you thought you were about to make the switch. Sounds like how Wilson/Culver would run hot-and-cold in my report.

What is pretty funny was I actually was going to start Diabatw but I forgot and De La Rosa started the game like 6/6 so then I felt like i couldn't pull him until he threw a Pick. I wish Clemons (the 5* I recruited this past year) was better then a 79 Ovr I probably would have taken a look at him in Weeek 1 but he is going to need a redshirt year

                GAME RECAP

Ohio State won it's 7th straight picking up a huge Top-25 road win over #11 Washington in Week 8 behind the play of backup QB Abdul Diabate.

SO Nick De La Rosa started the game and completed 5/9 pass's on the opening drive before throwing a INT into the endzone facing a 4th and Goal from the 3 yd line on the opening drive.

Washington would take the early (7-0) as the Huskies close out the 1st Quarter with a touchdown pass from SR QB Josh DaSilva (80 ovr).

FIU would settle for a FG to open up the 2nd Quarter scoring to make it (7-3), Da Sliva would throw a INT to kill the Huskies drive allowing De la Rosa to lead OSU on it's own 11 play drive ending with a 3 yd TD run by Frederick Tam to make it (10-7).

Da Silva would bounce back from his earlier INT leading the Huskies on another nice 10 play drive ending with a 2 yd TD run by E. Waiters to make it (14-10)

The next 7 seconds were a absolute blur.. De La Rosa would throw his 2nd INT of the game but Da Silva fires one right back as OSU takes over with 33 seconds on left in the half..

Coach Miller had seen enough from De La Rosa who ends up on the bench with RS JR Abdul Diabate taking over,. A.B. shows off his ability to throw the Long Ball hitting D'Angelo Lowe on a 81 yd bomb to give Ohio State the (17-14) lead at the half.

Diabate would play his best game of his career as he continues to make big play after big play throwing (3) 2nd half touchdowns as he finishes the day 11/15 (73%) for 274 yds with 4 TD and a INT.

                Coach Miller
"I am not going to say Nick De La Rosa's season is over because I think every team needs a 2nd string guy ready to come in and help their team win and to be honest I am not sure Demarco Killings is ready to be that guy, but I will say moving forward A.B.'s play today has earned him the right to start against Purdue next week"
Washington had 3 chances to score late in the 4th but turned the ball over 2 times on downs Da Silva had to leave the game late in the 4th Quarter and backup SO QB Frederick Ballage would come in and throw a late touchdown to make it look closer then it really was.

                UP NEXT

Ohio State will return home to Columbus as they prepare for a 3 game homestand starting with #8 (5-2) Purdue in Week 9.. The Boilermakers have gotten off to a pretty good start in Year 1 being back in the Big Ten starting out 5-1 in Big Ten play including 4 straight road wins over Wisconsin (37-31), Michigan State (39-37), Pitt (35-21) and Michigan (38-24)..

                INJURY UPDATE

The Medical Staff is starting to get busy again this season as SR CB Nick Costanzo (88) hits the IR with a Hamstring Tear that will keep him out for the next 4-5 weeks.

                RECRUITING NEWS

Coach Miller landed (2) 5* Recruits this week as both 5* WR Joel Wilbur (#7 Overall/#1 MD/#1 WR) and 5* RB DeSean Pryor (#31 Overall/#3 FL/#2 RB) both sign.

With the 3 additions, Ohio State climbs to #8 Overall in the Nation and #2 in the Big Ten.

Week 7 offered plenty of Top-25 matchup's as we saw Georgia fall to Tennessee dropping from #4 to #10 in the rankings.. Tulsa had climbed to #7 before falling (44-42) to Kansas dropping to #18. #13 Duke defeated Miami on the road (45-42) to hand the Hurricanes their first loss well the Blue Devils stay undefeated and join the Top-25 just in time to take on #3 FIU.

The Big Ten is looking tough.. If both Ohio State and Notre Dame can win this week we will see a Week 10 matchup of #1 vs #2 with Oregon and Penn State waiting in the wings.. It's going to be a crazy final 5 week for the Buckeyes and their quest for another Big Ten Championship.

Stanford is enjoying their move back to the Pac-12 as they are currently 7-0.. Will be interesting to see who wins between them and Cal and if a Pac-12 team can make the playoffs this year..

                  HEISMAN TALK

Duke is 7-0 for a reason and that reason is JR QB Percy Uzomah.. The former 4) is a 3 year starter who was injured last season but has bounced back to a amazing 2035 season.. He has thrown for 2166 yds with 27 TD's and just 2 INT this year well also adding 367 yds and 3 TD on the ground.

He is currently #1 in the Heisman race.

FIU's Kevin Pounds has jumped to #2.. Pounds currently has 1951 yds passing with 20 TD and 5 INT on the season well adding 377 yds and 3 TD on the ground.

Ohio State's JR RB Curtis McCracken has jumped to #3.. McCracken is just 92 yds shy of hitting 1000 yds on the season (908) and has now scored 4 TD's in his past 2 games giving him 5 on the season.

TCU JR QB Darren Alworth is currently #4.. Alworth has thrown for 2270 yds with 21 TD and 5 INT this season

                    GAME RECAP

Ohio State went full "Cobra Kai" on the Purdue showing no mercy to the #11 ranked Boilermakers in their return to the "Shoe"..

The Buckeyes Struck First, Struck Hard and Showed No Mercy scoring a season high 63 points including 7 touchdowns on the ground as both Curtis McCracken and Frederick Tam score the Hat Trick with 3 TD's each..

Purdue kept things close in the 1st Quarter trailing (14-7) but using a duo of QB's the Boilermakers threw 3 INT's that lead to 21 unanswered points as Ohio State rolls to the victory..

Purdue didn't play horrible despite the score.. They did manage to put up 407 yds of Total Offense including 141 yds that did include a 50 yd run by FR WR Jaylen Swayne on a Jet Sweep.

Leading (49-14) early in the 4th, QB Nick De La Rosa did come in and close out the game under center but only attempted 5 pass's completing 2 of them as Ohio State stuck with the ground game as McCracken and Tam picked up their 3rd TD each.

                    UP NEXT

Ohio State will remain at home for Game 2 in their 3 game homestand as they will prepare to host Notre Dame in Week 9 (At the time of this report, I havn't played the FIU game yet so, I don't know if Notre Dame will be #2 and still be undefeated or if Navy will pull off the upset).

                    RECRUITING NEWS

**Again because we havn't simmed ahead yet, I am unclear if anyone signs this week, but we did have several players on campus during the win.

Yeah. I don't know what the deal is.. In one of my other Dynasties, Duke had a 4-5 year spurt where they were really good too.. I know in real life next year they will have that FR QB from Tulane so I think in CF26 they will be better for those first 3-4 years of a Dynasty so it will be interesting to see how that could change for them normally being a Basketball school.

Sadly their Stud QB got hurt playing against FIU so now he is out for the season. Which opens the door for Pounds or McCracken to get the Heisman..

The Buckeyes RB group is one of the most talented I have played with I honestly think if I had Tam for 4 years and made him my #1 RB he could've pushed for some of Tavon Logan's records which shattered every rushing record in the game.. But Jones was so good and so is McCracken and honestly Te'o is good too and so is Britton who never sees the field. Dubois was a 5* RB I moved to FB because of how good my depth is and even he turns out 4=5 yds a carry on dive runs and could probably break some bigger runs if I put him in for sweeps and stretch runs.

                              GAME RECAP

The College Game Day showed up for the Battle of undefeated #1 Ohio State vs #3 Notre Dame and the game didn't disappoint as these 2 football titans battled in Week 10.

Ohio State took a early lead on a 3 yd run by JR RB Frederick Tam to make it (7-0).. The touchdown was 1 of 3 on the day for Tam who makes it back to back weeks with the Hat Trick. Ohio State had another opportunity to score in the 1st Quarter but Abdul Diabate is picked off in the endzone ending the scoring opportunity.

Tam would score TD #2 early in the 2nd Quarter to give Ohio State the (14-0) lead but Notre Dame answers back with a score to make it (14-7) The Buckeyes would tack on a FG late in the half to make it (17-7) as we head to the locker rooms.

Ohio State opened up the 3rd Quarter scoring with Tam's 3rd TD of the day and his 14th of the season...

                              Coach Miller
"Frederick Tam has become one of the premier RB's inside the 5 yd line the past 3 years with 57 scores. Ohio State has had some pretty great RB's come through this program over the year's and it's crazy to think that that he is already the leader in touchdowns in a career and still has plenty of games left to not only set the ball higher but also chase down Monte Ball's Big Ten record of 77"
Notre Dame would again answer back with a score of their own to make it (24-14) but then it was Curtis McCracken time as the JR RB takes the ball 69 yds to the house for the quick score extending the lead back to (31-14).. Again Notre Dame fights back though settling for a FG to make it (31-17) to end the 3rd. The Irish then force a punt by the Buckeyes before scoring another touchdown to make it (31-24) with just under 4 minutes to play in the game..

Rather then attempt the onside kick, Notre Dame kicks deep into the endzone as Ohio State starts at the 20 yd line.

With already over 290 yds on the day, Ohio State continued to ride the run game as the Buckeyes add 54 yds on to their total including a 2 yd run by McCracken with just 17 seconds to play as Ohio State stays undefeated and puts themselves in the drivers seat for a Big Ten Championship bid.

                              UP NEXT

Ohio State will stay home to finish out their 3 game homestand hosting Pitt as the Buckeyes celebrate "Senior Day" and honor the 17 Seniors on this year's roster. Reports are several JR's are also expected to be honored as WR E. Tandy, DE M. Vakapuna are considered to be potential 1st or 2nd round Draft picks.
