    GAME RECAP

The Irish/Panther Rematch didn't disappoint as both teams battle each other down to the final seconds yet again in another epic battle for the National Title.

Tavon Logan capped a historic season with his 50th TD of the season to get things going early as FIU took the (7-0) lead. The Panther Defense held Notre Dame to a 34 yd FG on the following series to make it (7-3)..

FIU then drove the length of the field getting the ball down to the 3 yd line before facing a tough decision on whether to kick the FG or try for the score.

Coach Miller left the offense on the field, as Zach Wire took the snap and rolled to his right firing a pass intended for TE Dominik Naanee but JR CB Bradley Grymes (86) was there picking off the pass and turning the INT into a "Pick 6" as he races 96 yds to the opposite endzone to give the Irish the (10-7) lead .

FIU was forced to punt on the following series setting up another Notre Dame FG as they extend their lead to (13-7). Wire would then throw his 2nd INT of the game after taking a 8 yd sack that left FIU facing a 3rd and 18. The Panther D would hold the Irish to a 3rd FG though making it (16-7) with just under 2 minutes to play in the half.

Still armed with all 3 timeout. Coach Miller knew they would need to play smart . After a 1st down run went for no gain. FIU facing a 2nd and 10 from the 20 yd line, Norte Dame makes a huge mistake as they send the blitz leaving Brian Cheek 1 on 1 on the outside and Wire delivers a perfect deep pass as Cheek takes it 80 yds to the house to make it (16-14) at the half.

Notre Dame opened up the 2nd half with the ball but a quick 3 and out gave FIU the ball and Wire still feeling pumped from his 80 yd bomb to Cheek leads a 8 play drive that ends with a 22 yd pass to SR Faitele Okwara as FIU takes the lead (21-16)

It was then the Panther D coming up with a huge play as JR CB Joey Cordero picks off ND JR QB Daniel Linnenkohl (83) setting up a Taj Dozier FG that gives FIU the lead (24-16) as we head to the 4th.

Linnenkohl would bounce back from his INT as he hits WR Manu Guzman (87) on a pair of pass's including 29 yd long that sets the Irish up inside the 20 yd line. Then 2 plays later he finds RB Trae Gossett out of the backfield for a 16 yd score to make it (24-22).

Notre Dame would leave the Offense on the field to try and tie the game but RS FR Garrison Falah comes up with a huge stop as Linnenkolh is stopped short on the QB keeper.

Now it was Notre Dame's turn to get a big stop and they did as they force Dozier out for 2nd FG of the day this time from 45 yd. He drills it making it (27-22) with less then 4 minutes to play in the game.

A touchdown could give Notre Dame the lead and Coach Miller knew that putting the ball in Wire's hands to win it in the final minute wasn't really his ideal finish.. Lucky for him it wasn't. The Panther D comes up with a huge sack as Notre Dame is faced with a tough decision with 1:48 to play in the game facing a 4th and 18, the Irish send out the FG unit as they make it (27-25).

Coach Miller not taking any chances puts the hands team out just incase the Irish try for the onside kick, but armed with 2 of their timeouts remaining. The Irish kick deep.

The Panthers would look to run out the clock but back to back runs left them facing a 3rd and 4. Wire would have to pass.

Wire dropped back and found JR Tyler Cisco on a crossing pattern... 1st Down Panthers....

The Irish out of timeouts were left to watch FIU lined up in the victory formation...

As the Celebration dies down ESPN sideline reporter got a chance to speed to RB Tavon Logan who was named the games MVP. What his future holds. His response "I still got work to do"

With 5048 yds and 67 TD's over 2 seasons, one can only think the work that Logan still has left is to chase down the National Rushing Record held by SDSU Donnel Pumphrey (6405 yds) and the Rushing TD record held by Navy's Keenan Reynolds (88).

Notre Dame vs FIU for all the marbles. Looks like the beginnings of a great rivalry between the two??
Oh for sure.. Bryant has I think probably a pretty bright future, but Paxson was a huge reason for PSU being there. He had 3763 yds with 36 TD and 5 INT. after throwing for 4546 yds 44 TD and 6 INT last year.

He is a 1st Round pick.

Bryant will be pushed by 5* Kofi Stumph. He redshirted and is a 78 Overall.

I could totally see FIU and Notre Dame becoming a rivalry same with Penn State if we continue to see each other in the playoffs. It's hard with only 2 non-conference games I really want to keep FAU on the schedule and use the other spot to rotate between Florida, Florida State, UCF and USF so I don't know if I will ever see either of them in the regular season.

Logan is one of those guy's even when facing a 3rd and 10, your still tempted to run the ball with him because you know he has the abilities to break tackles and get to the outside. In all my past dynasties I would say I was like 100% going to pass every time I was facing more then a 3rd and 3 but not with Logan.. Fair actually is really good too.. They have completely changed what I am looking for in a RB.. I use to be 100% speed, but now trucking and Break tackle is taking over.

          Thanks for the follow/comment.

            END OF THE YEAR RECAP

MILLER STAYS BUT LOSES BOTH OC AND DC

Despite over 26 schools hiring a new HC this off-season FIU won't be one of them, but that doesn't mean FIU is returning at full strength in 2030.

OC T.Y. Hilton once a FIU Panther great has turned the Panthers record setting season into his own HC gig as Hilton will return to where he was a NFL star taking over as the new HC of the Indiana Hoosiers.

            Hilton
"When I decided to get into coaching, I knew I wanted my start with FIU and I know when I was hired that many thought I might be the next Panther HC with Coach Miller moving on, but when I was approached with by Indiana and a chance to coach in the Big Ten. I couldn't turn it down"
Well Hilton is moving on for a HC job, DC Malcolm Brooks is leaving some wondering why? Despite multiple HC jobs available, Brooks is staying as a DC taking over at Oklahoma.. The Sooners are coming off a (4-8) season that saw them win just 3 games in the SEC.

            Miller
"I am shocked. I loved Coach Brooks and I felt like he deserved another shot at being a HC. I know he interviewed with Rice and Houston in the past and I am very surprised with the # of vacancies this season that he didn't get more interviews"

With Hilton and Brooks out, Coach Miller will turn to former ECU HC Chuck Dobbins to take over the Offense. Dobbins was let go by ECU after their (3-9) finish this past season. On Defense Coach Miller will turn to Jose Phenix. Not much is known about Coach Phenix other then he has ties to Central Florida Recruiting.

            CHEEK AND STEWART NFL BOUND

After testing their NFL stock status last year both JR WR Brian Cheek and MLB Tevaughn Stewart (94 Ovr) are both NFL bound after winning their 2nd National Championship.

Stewart leaves FIU with 277 Career Tackles 20 TFL, 9.5 Sacks and 3 INT, including 92 Tackles and 9 TFL this past season. Stewart was a 3 time Team Captain and is expected to be a 1st Round pick.

Brian Cheek transferred in from Alabama and made his presence known Day 1 leading the Panthers with 80 rec for 1519 yds and 14 TD as a RS Freshman. After a down year last year (57 rec 820 yds 4 TD), Cheek posted another 1000+ yd season finishing this year with a career low 54 receptions for 1223 yds (22.6 avg) and a school record 16 TD's. He also leaves FIU as the new career leader in receiving touchdowns with (34). Cheek is projected as a late 1st round or early 2nd round pick.

            Coach Miller
"I wish both players the best. I will be honest I tried talking Brian into returning. I know our offense shifted it's focus to the run this year but his ability to beat a guy 1 on 1 on the outside is unmatched"
            SAYING GOODBYE

If losing your 2 assistant coaches and 2 of your best players early to the NFL wasn't bad enough Coach Miller also had to say Good Bye to 13 Seniors who all played a major role in his career and the Panthers 2 National Titles.

Former Duke transfer Nick Fair(83) was a huge addition this past offseason as he posts 168 carries for 1076 yds and 6 TD's despite being the #2 RB behind Logan.

Fellow RB Major Benshaw (79) only had 50 career carries for 305 yds and 1 TD as a RB, but he had 71 KR for 1466 yds over 4 seasons.

WR Enrique Cortez (81) leads FIU as the career leader in yards (3607) breaking Hilton's record, finishing with 210 receptions and 33 TD (1 less then Cheek's record).

WR Faitelte Okwara (79) despite being in a run dominating offense this season had a breakout year posting a career high 34 rec for 613 yds with 1 TD rotating as the team's #4/#5 WR.

TE Dominick Naanee (79) leaves FIU with his name still in the FIU record books after a dominating Freshman season that saw him win the Mackey Award for the Best TE.(86 rec 1600 yds with 14 TD). He leave FIU with 189 rec for 3108 yds and 23 TD's.

TE Jose Malik (79) lost in Naanee shadow (the due was 6'6). Malik still managed to catch 30 balls for 364 yds and 5 TD in his career.

The Panthers also say goodbye to pretty much the entire starting O-Line.
            LT T. Olszewski (83), LG A. Hill (87), C D. Okuayinou (86), RG S. Williams (85) and RT T. Brewer (78) as well as backup LG W. Meredith(81)

Former Miami Hurricane DE Klay Moehrig (87) was a massive addition to the team this year and like Fair played a huge role in helping the Panthers to the 2nd title.

Moehrig led the team in sacks posting 12.5 with 43 Tackles and 8 TFL. He also had a Forced Fumble and 2 Fumble recoveries.

            Coach Miller
"Sometimes the impact guy's are making on Defense gets lost in all the hoopla of the Offense and that was the case for Klay but he put in his work and was a huge reason for the success we had on D"
SR CB Brian Wall (81) finished with a career high 65 tackles and 4 INT this year but his 2 INT in the Rose Bowl will always be his greatest impact.

OLB Xavier Mattison (75) is a former 1* who stayed with Miller when he took the job and over 4 seasons produced 91 Tackles, 3 TFL and 3.5 Sacks proving you don't have to be a 5* or 4* or even a 3* to still make a major impact on your team.

            Coach Miller
"Recruiting services like 247 and others are so wrapped up on grading recruits and grading your school Overall Class every year, but they forget that sometimes a guy who is only a 1* who comes in and works hard every day can still play a major role in helping you win a National Title. Even if he isn't on the field every play and making huge plays, he is making you better in practice and ready to give it 100% when he gets his opportunity."
FORMER 4* WR R. KUNASZYK ENTERS PORTAL

After losing 3 of their Top 5 WR's to the NFL and graduation, FIU now lost it's #4 as former 4* RS SO Ryan Kunaszyk sites "Play Style" as his reason for leaving.. After redshirting his True Freshman season, Kunaszyk recorded 9 rec for 188 yds and 2 TD as a RS Freshman.. This season he was listed as the team's #4/#5 WR with Okwara and caught 16 balls for 377 yds (23.6 avg, which actually led the team) with 1 TD.

With Kunaszyk leaving, FIU now returns just 1 active WR from last years roster JR Tyler Cisco who after posting 54 rec for 853 yds and 5 TD in 2028 caught just 22 balls for 340 yds and 1 TD this season.

PANTHERS ADD 5 MORE TO RECRUTIING CLASS BEFORE OFF-SEASON SIGININGS

Despite all the heart ache of seeing coaches and players leave, Coach Miller got a little bit of joy following the Panthers Natty win landing 5 more commitments including a pair of 4* Recruits before the Off-season and Transfer Portal opened.

4* Athlete Ahmad Vilain (#234 Overall/#36 FL/#10 ATH) is listed at 6'4 248 lbs from Sarasota FL. Vilian was recruited to play TE

4* RB Jesse Agasiva (#427 Overall/#1 HI/#31 RB) is listed at 5'9 196lbs from Honolulu HI.. He is the only RB in this year class for the Panthers and now gives Coach Miller the past 2 Gatorade POY from the Big Island.

Also signing where 3* ATH Kerry Simple (#945 Overall/#2 ID/#34 ATH) a TE/FB prospect from Homedale Idaho about 30 minus from Boise State.. 3* WR Brian Waltz (#1394/#186 FL/175 WR) a 6'5 202lb from Palmetto FL and 3* TE Joel Simonson (#1390/#27VA/#51 TE). Listed at 6'5 226lbs from Leesburg VA.

Those signings leave's Coach Miller 7 players left on his Big Board with 11 signed. The Class (2-5*, 6-4*, 3-2*) currently ranked #21 in the nation and #4 in the ACC. (#8 Miami, #15 NC State, #19 Syracuse).

With 26 new Head Coaches being hired this off-season the the transfer portal was packed with players looking for new homes after their former Head Coaches were let go.

I sure hope they change the portal in the next game. I feel like you should be able to offer all players different pitches or try and overcome their reasons for not listing you as a school. I would've loved to try and get the NC State RB Ndukwe as a Fair replacement it woud've been nice if even a 3* WR had interest but I basically got the (4)4* and a bunch of 2*

                2029 NATIONAL SIGNING DAY

                FIU LANDS AT #11

Coach Miller just missed out on signing his first ever Top-10 class as 3 of his 4 Top-4 targets in the transfer portal sign elsewhere.

To add a little salt to the wound was the fact it was Florida who finished #10. However on a positive note, FIU leap frogged Miami who finished #12, so they still came away with the #1 Class in the ACC..

In total Coach Miller signed 22 Players (2-5*,10-4*, 9-3* and 1-2*).

4* RG Sean James (#11 Overall) from South Carolina was the Big Fish from the Portal.

2* WR Afa Moe (#229 Overall) from New Mexico was the other. Moe originally from Fort Lauderdale FL was a RS FR listed at 6'2 197lbs with 94 SPD and 95 ACC who at the worst can help on Kick returns.

FIU's other Top-3 targets from the Portal

CB's J. Marciano signed with Florida State and Alex Aquino signed with Georgia.

OLB Dee "Dr" Pepper signed with Kentucky.

Well Coach Miller missed out on 3 of his Top-4 Portal targets, he did manage to sign 4* ATH/WR Tyreke Harmon (#338 Overall/#53 FL/#42 ATH) and 4* WR Montrell Muamba (#448 Overall/#69 FL/#58 WR) who were both Miller's Top-2 targets left on his Big Board.

Well neither officially joined the Portal during this recruiting period, reports are that FIU could potentially lose both Starting QB Zach Wire and #3 QB E. Verrett.

Wire who started all year for the Panthers finished with 3774 yds and 34 TD's last season but also finished with 18 INT and completed just 51% of his pass's.

Verrett a former 4* from the same Class as the team's #3 last year after losing the backup job in the spring to Senior Victor Ojwuke who has since graduated.

The Rumors led to Miller signing a Trio of 3* Recruits in the final week just to be prepared.

                Coach Miller
"Last season we went into the year with 3 active QB's and 4* Recruit Greg McCrae redshirting. If the rumors hold true then our QB was going to take a huge hit with McCrae and 5* Derek Hawkins most likely battling it out for the #1 job next year leaving us with very little depth should someone get hurt."
Here is a look at the full class.

Congrats on the Heisman and the Championship!! One out from a Top 10 is frustrating, but something to build on for the next year. Great read and great team.

                      NOTRE DAME LANDS #1

The Irish might have come up short against the Panthers but they did a great job reloading their roaster to make another run as they sign 31 players including (5) 5*, 22-4* and 11-3* Recruits.. Among their 5* signings was 5* FS Jacquez Boone the #1 Overall player in the Class, DT T. Fish the #7 Overall DE J .Ahanotu #29 Overall, CB D. Braham #30 Overall and OLB E. Turpin #31 Overall.

Georgia continues to stockpile Top-5 class's as the Bulldogs look to keep themselves as King's of the SEC. Georgia lands as #2 with 31 players (4-5*,22-4* and 5-3*).

                      Nebraska (29 players-2-5*,16-4*,11-3*) Texas A&M (29 players-3-5*, 21-4*, 5-3*) and Oregon (29 players-4-5*,8-4*,17-3*) round out the Top-5.

It's interesting because Oregon shows you can change a HC and just throw a crap ton of Nike Money at kids and people will still come to Eugene to wear the 82 uni combo's they got available..

Here is a look at the rest of the Top-25 (Total# 5*/4*/3*/2*)

                      #6 Penn State (23 3/12/8)
                      #7 LSU (32 0/20/12)
                      #8 Alabama (31 1/20/10)
                      #9 TCU (23 0/19/4)
                      #10 Florida (34 1/22/11)
                      #11 FIU
                      #12 Miami (27 0/19/8)

For sure.. I will be shocked if Logan sticks it out all 4 years but we will see.. fell like both National Records for Yards and TD's are actually in reach with just a solid like 1200 yds and 20 TD's.

Not sure if you caught in my original writeup when we signed Boenzi, he is a 5* Gem Bust so sadly he comes in as a 71 Overall. I had a similar thing happen with a WR when I was at TTU though and despite his low overall, he still played really well and put up some Big #'s for me and turned into like a 85 Overall...

Only HC job offer I got was BYU.. In a previous sim ahead I also got Utah, but didn't when I actually finished out my season. What I find most interesting is I can't find Coach Danielson (E. Liberty) anywhere on the hire list. So I think he might have just left the game. I was sad because I would've loved to been able to hire him as my DC.

I think it really sucks that when your coaches leave you are stuck only picking among 5 chooses. For me it's all about their level but more importantly their recruiting pipelines. Both guy's I picked for Coach Miller actually have ties to Florida, as it's where I will continue to build the majority of my roster from.

At this point unless my dream job or a job that just really intrigues me comes up next year I will probably stick it out at FIU especially if I land another Top-10 type class next year.

Thanks..It was a fun season. I have never ran the ball so much in my life. I have always been a pass happy offense dating all the way back to my days of NCAA06 when I ran a Dynasty with Eastern Michigan.

Had I been paying attention closer to the rankings after Week 3 of the Off-season I probably would've pushed harder to sign another couple players and get in the Top-10 but now it gives me something to shoot for next year. Actually next year I would love to be Top-5. With 3 CUSA titles, 1 ACC title and 2 National Championshps on my resume, I am not really restricting myself with recruiting other then sticking with that a player must have me in their Top-10 to start the year unless they are a instate Florida kid, then I can go after anyone.

A possible return of Xavier Mattison as a future DC? Had some pretty big losses player wise this year. Hopefully, those coming in and that redshirted can take over where those who left left off.

You can call it being a "Homer". But as Tupac said, its California Love.

Did you check the OC/DC hires list as well? Its tedious to go through, but if they didn't get hired for a HC spot typically they end up there. But you can only see those hires IN the coaching carousel season. There is no option to look at other coordinators aside from your own. Keep an eye out in next years coaching hire period and he may pop back up.

The longer you get into the dynaty and have success I think the "preferences" open up a bit more. I had one that I played before posting where I started at South Carolina as the OC. Year 2 I got offered ASU and TCU as HC, but didn't know you would stay at your school to finish the CFP if you left. We had a shot at winning the Natty (we did) so I stayed for that. Two more years went by with NO offers, despite winning another Natty and losing one, then all of a sudden Ohio State, Miami, and Washington I believe offered me. Went with Miami in that one. My pipeline was Texas as well iirc. So it does open up once you get a few years with of pedigree....hopefully.

                                Otherwise its #FIU4Lyfe
