4 1/2 *.. I was surprised.. Several guy's had the Buckeyes #1 but 4 of them signed with TAMU.. I really wish the game allowed you to recruit your former players... Not a single FIU player even had interest in going to Ohio State. I somewhat get Hawkins cause the Buckeyes already have a former 5* that is only a Junior but I thought maybe some of the other guy's. I really wanted to put Dom Meeks the WR who transferred from Cincinnati in the Portal and see if I could get him. He is from Ohio but I left him as he would be the #1 with Newkirk going to the NFL and Boenzi leaving, then for some reason when I was done with recruiting and had saved both guy's were still on FIU's roster ???

Basically what I did with the transfers was anyone not originally from Florida I put in the Portal as well as some guys who were going to be like 3rd on the depth chart and then McCrae who I was hoping would sign with a team as a starter..

Instead he will backup Coffee is is also a RS JR, so odds are he is a career backup now.

Hawkins improved to a 88 and beats out Tye Fair (86) who was the Hokies starter last season. Fair is a Senior, so Hawkins should be the starter for his final 2 years.

Wire is still the starter at Washington.. He is a 85 Overall.. Everett is the starter at FSU. He is also a 85 Overall..

I plan on doing a recap probably throughout the season on how former Panthers are doing..

(Player Overall) is the # after each players name...

(R= Redshirting this season) (RS means Redshirted last season) (T= True Freshman playing)

*Also I ran out of room and had to put (3) O-Lineman redshirting in the Defensive section*

      ROSTER OUTLOOK

With Hawkins out of the way Pounds takes over as QB1 with 796 yds with 10 TD and 2 INT in 3 starts, Pounds looked good.. Let's see how he will progress as the Panthers starter for the next 4 years.

Cantwell got a huge bump in training and looks to make it 3 straight years the Panthers will have a 1000 yd rusher and a RB picked in the 1st Round of the NFL draft.

The WR Room is loaded Both 5* Recruits Devin Kennedy and Edward Marshall are redshirting but that still leaves 10 WR's on the active roster. I will look to probably encourage transfer some players next season

Godwin looks to be NFL ready.. Will be interesting to see if he has a bigger season in some of the sim games.

The O-line looks solid. Coxie and Brewer are NFL bound and we have some solid young guy's ready to move up.

On the D-Line even though Cordero and Klemm are both Seniors I plan on putting former 5* DE Kerry St Pierre in as a starter.. He had 4 sacks in 2 games last year when I was using him.

The Linebacker room is stacked.. I assume Faulk will probably leave after this season and with the Top-3 OLB's all set to graduate, it will be a key position to add in Recruiting but Provo, Grubbs and Brown will give us 3 solid starters for the next 3 years after this group is gone.

With 3 graduating CB's that's another key position to recruit.. I looked and none of the current WR's were solid options to move to CB besides the guy's I have already moved (Sykes and Harmon)

Finding a PK and Punter is also high on the priority list. Dozier has been a absolute stud. with 60/74 FG's made and 100% of his XPT's. Of Dozier's 14 miss's 9 of them have come from 50+

      RECRUITING

After the transfers, FIU has only 76 players on the roster giving us 9 open roster spots.. With 21 Seniors on the roster,, we will look to fill up a full 30 player class as we go for a Top-5 Recruiting Class despite Coach Miller's departure.. The Rest of the Roster is (11 Juniors/13 Soph's and 31 Combined Redshirt and True Freshman)

My initial Big Board has 35 Recruits.. (8)-5*, (25)-4* and 2-3* (PK and Punter).. Of the 35 players 26 are instate Florida recruits, as I Coach Dee's will continue Miller's strategy of trying to win the state and keep kids away from Miami, Florida State and Florida.

        2032 OHIO STATE MEDIA GUIDE

        TEAM SCHEDULE

        Week 1 vs Akron
        Week 2 vs Florida State
        Week 3 @ Stanford
Week 4 @ #3 Penn State "Rivalry Game.. New name Buck U PSU"
Week 5 vs #8 Notre Dame
        Week 6 @ Nebraska
        Week 7 @ Michigan State
        Week 8 vs Indiana
        Week 9 @ Minnesota
Week 10 vs Illinois "Illibuck Trophy"
        Week 11 "Bye"
        Week 12 @ Wisconsin
Week 13 vs Michigan "The Game/ Senior Day"

Year 1, Coach Miller won't see much of the Westcoast Big Ten teams with Oregon/USC/Washington not on the schedule.. OSU will also skip playing Cincinnati this season as well.. The schedule is pretty favorable to start the year as OSU will play 2 home games before starting Conference Play.. My prediction is a 9-3 record maybe 10-2 if we get lucky but with the Goal being the playoffs, we will need to..

(Overall is next to players name) RS means player has already Redshirted.. (R) means player will Redshirt this season, (T) means player will play as a True Freshman.

        QB

JR A.J. Breida was in the same recruiting class as Derek Hawkins and as FIU's #1 QB target that year.. Hawkins signed with FIU the same week Breida announced he was going to be a Buckeye.

Breida saw limited action as a True Freshman completing 27/55 (49%) for 380 yds with 3 TD and 3 INT. Then as a True Sophomore last season, he won the starting job completing 56% of his pass's for 3188 yds with 32 TD and 17 INT. He was sacked 34 times. but still managed 227 yds with 2 TD on the ground.

SR Ryan Russo is a former 4* who has yet to throw a pass in 4 seasons. He will be QB2.

Redziniak is a former 3* who redshirted last year. He will be QB3, well 3* Melo Sampson one of the few late additions to the 2031 class by Coach Miller will redshirt and fight Redziniak and any incoming recruits for QB2 next season.

        RB/FB

SR Mike Grubbs has 183 carries for 603 yds and 13 TD's in 3 seasons. His best season came last year when carries the ball 113 times for 382 yds and 6 TD.

RS SR Anfernee Johnson is a former 4* QB who moved to RB this off-season. Johnson was the Bucks starting QB in 2030 completing 66% of his pass's for 2974 yds with 27 TD and 8 INT well rushing for 105 carries for 364 yds and 2 TD's.

He didn't play in 2031 as Bredia took over QB1.. Now he moves to RB where he will push Grubbs for carries.. He will also line up at WR playing in the slot..

RS SO Dave Jones has 3 carries for 3 yds in his career. He will be the team's #3 and will look to challenge FR Fredrick Tam (Redshirting) for the starting job next season as well as any incoming recruits.

SR Eric Tryon will be the starting FB.. Tyron has never recorded a carry but as the team's biggest back, he could get some goal line looks this year.

3* Recruit Tavares Cooper will redshirt and look to take on the starting role next year.

        WR/TE

Former 4* JR Terron Pappoe is listed as the team's #1 WR this season, but Pappoe has only 9 career receptions for 204 yds and 3 TD's. Fellow JR Gill Alexander has the most experience.. After catching just 1 ball for 19 yds in 2030, Alexander had a breakout year with 53 rec for 813 yds and 8 TD's last season.

Former QB turned RB Anfernee Johnson is expected to play alot of Slot WR this year but could share some time with SO Jabu Gayton. Gayton a former 3* didn't record a catch last year as a True Freshman.

4* Recruit Ezekiel Tandy beat out fellow 4* Nick Tull for the #4 WR job. Tandy the fastest player on the team (99 speed 95 ACC) will also be the team's primary kick returner.

SR Kevin Kosier (13 career receptions 186 yds) will battle Gayton for the #5 WR job well RS FR Ja"Darius Abbott and JR Kevin Weinstein provide depth.

SR TE Ryan Pierre is actually the most experienced pass catcher the Bucks have.. Pierre a 2 year starter had 51 rec for 616 yds and 4 TD in 2030 and then posted 44 rec for 502 yds and 3 TD last season.

RS FR Ceasar Bourgeois will be TE2 and likely push for the starting role next season unless Coach Miller lands a Top TE recruit..

        O-LINE

4 Starters graduated last year and moved on to the NFL.. SR LG Willie Schooley is the lone returning starter.. 3* Transfer Montrell Johnson (La Tech) will get first crack at protecting Breida's Blindside. He was a starter for the Bulldogs last season and gave up 5 sacks. RS JR Jimmy Peters could swap sides with him, but he is currently listed at RT. RS JR George Pool gets first crack at starting at RG, but could be pushed by RS FR Ethan Whitehurst a former 3* Recruit.. RS JR Pat Norwell takes over at Center but he is undersized at 6'0 277lbs and could give way to backup RG RS SR Noah Sumer or RS JR Robbie Neufield.

        D-LINE

DT Alex Bequette is the returning leader in sacks with 4 last season.

RS FR Joel Ezukanma is a former 4* who redshirted last season he won the starting job in the spring over SR John Smythe. Smythe and RS SO John Quinterro will rotate at the other DE spot.

          GAME RECAP

New Town, New Team, but same results. Coach Matt Miller won his Buckeye Debut with a nice 48-7 victory over the Akron Zips as Ohio State opens up 2032 with a win in Week 1.

QB AJ Breida showed he can make plays with both his arm and his feet, as the Junior throws for 2 scores and runs for 2 scores in the opening half to give Ohio State the commanding (31-0) lead.

Akron opened up the 2nd half with the ball and JR QB Ladarius Kaddu (82) would hit SO WR Ty Merrick (79) on a 75 yd bomb for the Zips only score of the day to make it (31-7)..

Breida wasn't done though as he scores the hat trick with his arm leading a 9 play drive ending with a 9 yd TD pass to SR TE Ryan Pierre to extend the lead to (38-7).

Another forced Punt by the Buckeye Defense gets the ball back to the Offense and now it as SR RB Mike Grubbs time to shine as Grubbs adds 32 yds to his total taking the rock in for yet another score as OSU extends the lead to (45-7) going into the 4th.

Ohio State would add on a late 39 yd FG by Monty Carty as the Buckeyes close out the victory.

Akron's Ladarius Kaddu finished the game 14/28 (50%) for 206 yds and 1 TD.. He was sacked 4 times on the day.

I see a clutch HB Pass in your future with the converted QB....

Nice start against the Zips. Dodged a bullet in year 1 without having to play Oregon, although both Washington and USC tend to be fairly underwhelming. Lots of upsets in week 1 helped you climb the rankings and so long as you don't lose late, especially to Michigan, I can see a 10 win season getting you in the playoffs.

Will be interesting to see how the Big 10 shakes out with no divisions

                GAME RECAP

Excitement is at a all time high as 100,000+ packed Ohio Stadium for the Week 2 matchup between #15 (1-0) Ohio State and (0-1) Florida State.

Coach Miller "Not saying anything bad about Pitbull Stadium but it's just a completely different sound playing in front of 100,000+ fans instead of 20,000. The Stadium as absolutely rocking today (Ranked #6)

For Coach Miller it was a chance to see former FIU Panther QB Enrique Verrett (82) and the former 4* had a pretty solid 1st half, as he opened up the scoring with a 28 yd touchdown pass to SO WR Quincy Suggs (83) to get things going.

Ohio State would answer right back though as AJ Breida guides the Buckeyes on a 9 play drive and ending it with a 9 yd TD pass to SR TE Ryan Pierre to tie the game (7-7).

The Buckeye Defense would force a quick 3 and out getting the ball back to their Offense, but AJ Breida is picked off as FSU takes over as we move to the 2nd Quarter.

Verrett and Suggs would hook up again early in the 2nd Quarter to give the Seminoles the (14-7) lead but Bredia makes up for his earlier INT by hitting True Freshman Ezekiel Tandy on a 11 yd score to tie the game (14-14).. Then it was the Buckeye Defense again coming up with a big play as SR SS Jay Keenan picks of Verrett and returns it 22 yds and with 57 seconds to play in the half Bredia finds Tandy for touchdwon #2 (30 yds) as Ohio State takes the (21-14) lead into the half.

Ohio State opened up the 2nd half with the ball, and Bredia leads the Buckeyes down inside the 5 yd before Miller calls for 2 straight handoffs but FB Eric Tryon is stopped short setting up a 3rd and goal from the 1yd line. Bredia takes the snap and fires to SR RB/WR Anfernee Johnson as he makes the cut to the outside for the score as OSU extends their lead to (28-14).

Both teams would trade turnovers as FSU fumbles the ball as RS FR John Perez comes up with the strip and recovery, but after leading OSU into the redzone, Bredia is picked off for INT #2.. The Seminoles however are unable to convert the turnover into points as they punt... Bredia coming off a 77% completion rate in Week 1 struggled today but he was also not helped by 6 drops by the OSU receiving core as the Buckeyes settle for a Carty FG to make it (31-14) as we head to the 4th.

FSU would open up the 4th Quarter scoring with their own FG to cut the lead to (31-17).. Then it was the Seminole Defense coming up with a huge stop as Johnson drops a 3rd down pass that would've kept the drive alive, as OSU is forced to punt.

Florida State would then go on a 11 play drive that included (2) 4th down conversions and a change at QB as Verrett is forced from the game. SR JaMichael Robert (82) comes in and completes 4/4 pass's including a 39 yd touchdown to SO WR Von Gallimore (82) to make it (31-24) with 2:45 to play in the game.

Coach Miller knew he wanted to keep the ball and close out the game as SR RB Mike Grubbs goes to work, with 4 carries including (2) 1st down's as FSU is forced to use all 3 timeouts. Then it was RS SO Dave Jones coming up with a big run taking it 15 yds setting up a 1st down as he takes the ball down to the 15 yd line before being pushed out of bounds.

FSU brough the house as they rushed 8 defender and Breida makes the pay by hitting former QB Anfernee Johnson for a 15 yd strike as he takes it in for the score.. For Johnson it was his 2nd TD of the game and his team high 8th reception..FINAL SCORE OSU-38 FSU-24

QB E. Verrett finished the game 18/28 (64%) 216 yds 2 TD 1 INT. His injury was just for the Quarter as he doesn't show on the Injury report for next week

For sure. I am still running my custom playbook I had well at FIU I am going to go and edit it and add in some Wildcat formations and look at getting Johnson involved all over the field. He isn't super fast (88 SPD) but he has 94 ACC and 98 AGI and 91 carry as well 83 catch.. but with almost 3000 yds passing and 27 TD's in 2030, he showed he can sling it too.

I had mix feelings about not getting to play Oregon, but it's okay, I got Penn State and Notre Dame both will be tough games plus like you said Michigan in rivalry week.. At least it's at home, so I get to wait a year before playing them in the Big House..

The only bummer about not playing Washington is I don't get to face former Panther QB Zach Wire and it's his Senior season.. He has been pretty solid for the Huskies since his transfer... He had 3286 yds with 32 TD and 4 INT last season. It was fun playing Verrett one more time.. The CPU actually had FSU on the schedule.. The only thing I changed this year was swapping out a FCS opponent in Week 1 for Akron. The Zips were a 83 Overall, I thought they might give me a bigger challenge then they did.

My plan moving forward is probably to always use one of my 2 non-conference games playing a rotation of Ohio MAC Schools as a Week 1 or Week 2 opponent and I might keep my Florida ties but scheduling Florida, Miami and maybe even FIU at some point.. I might also put TTU (Coach Dobbins) and BSU on the schedule at some point. Might be fun to take the Buckeyes to AT&T and go play on "The Blue".

It's crazy.. AT&T was load when I was at Texas Tech, but it's almost a whole new level at Ohio Stadium.. It's nice playing in front of 100,000 fans.

As far as your prediction.. I will am thinking probably 9-3 but If I can manage to pull off either a win against PSU or Notre Dame then I think I could go 10-2. I figured 1 of them will be a loss, and then you got to figure someone else will pull off a upset.. Maybe even Michigan in Week 13.. I also think Wisconsin and Nebraska on the road are games that could give me trouble.

Actually they are pretty similar.. 77% completion 5 combined TD's Game 1, then less then 50% completion with 2 INT's in Game 2 (Still threw 5 TD's though).. We will see if he get's a roller coaster named after him..

                          GAME RECAP

It was the tale of 2 Halves for the Stanford Cardinals. In the 1st half, the Cardinals Offense couldn't be stopped as they score 4 times including touchdown pass's of 75 yds and 68 yds from SR QB Matthias Foucha (85) to SR WR Lamar Hyde (86), as Stanford takes a (28-21) lead into the first half.

Both teams would struggle in the 3rd Quarter, but with 4:48 to play Ohio State would settle for a 47 yd FG by Monty Carty to cut the lead to (28-24) and then another big defensive stop, AJ Breida would find JR WR Gill Alexander for his 2nd TD of the day (22 yds) to give OSU the lead for the first time in the game (31-28).

The Buckeye Defense continued to play a great 2nd half.. Despite not creating a turnover they did force 4 punts giving OSU the ball back early in the 4th..

Ohio State would take the ball all the way down to the 1 yd line before facing a 4th and goal decision. Coach Miller with the 3pt lead decided to leave the Offense on the field and SR RB Mike Grubbs delivers a huge 1 yd run for the score as OSU extends the lead to (38-28) with 5:25 to play in the game.

Stanford needing a score to stay in the game didn't try and force the big play but instead used a solid 9 play drive capped by a 10 yd TD run by JR RB Kameron Engler (81) to make it (38-35). But the only problem was the drive took almost 3 minutes off the clock leaving just 3:48 to play.

Stanford would elect to kickoff instead of trying for the onside kick as they kick the ball into the endzone for a touchback.

Coach Miller looking to get the Cardinals to burn all their timeouts goes to the ground game and Grubbs and Jones deliver once again, picking up valuable 1st downs but just like in Week 2 the hero of the game is former QB Anfernee Johnson who comes up with a 11 yd catch for the game sealing touchdown.. FINAL SCORE OHIO STATE-45 STANFORD 35

Foucha ended the game 11/21 (52%) for 280 yds with 2 TD.
Engler added 14 carries and 129 yds and 2 scores on the ground
Hyde finished with 3 rec for 153 yds and the 2 TD's.

                          UP NEXT

Man, when you came back to win the third meeting against Miami after losing the first two, I thought that would lead to the perfect send-off for Coach Miller at FIU with another natty - didn't expect to be humbled the following week against another conference foe!

Feel like Ohio State is one of the only jobs Coach Miller could have left for, and I'm glad to see that FIU will still be followed in this report. Good start to life in Columbus it seems like - Breida seems like he's a much more fun QB to play with than Hawkins, haha.

Man you too.. Everyone seems to want to dog on Hawkins.. I actually liked him but yeah AJ is a baller.. When I was recruiting them both I had AJ #1 and Hawkins #2 but honestly they are like 1A/1B.. They are both solid QB's.. I am pretty excited about the kid I am recruiting this year to be AJ's replacement in 2034.

I really feel lilke the Boyce injury played a pretty big role in our playoffs coming to a end in the Semi's.. Cantwell as great as the #2, but for some reason he struggled as the #1 in the playoffs. Not sure why but he went from averaging over 10 yds a carry during the season to like under 3 yds in the playoffs Same thing happened when I had to turn to Thompkins back in 2028 when Logan got hurt. Tompkins had great games as the #2 but all of a sudden couldn't make the same runs when being asked to carry the ball 25 times a game as the #1.
