In my Northwestern rebuild, I'm in my second season. I did a ton of house rules imagining that a ton of recuits would de-commit and players would transfer, so I started out with a 2-star program. I won 1 game last season, a nailbiter against Minnesota at home. I brought in the 106th-ranked recruiting class and I'm severely eff'ed this season as my starting QB broke his wrist in week 1. I went into my fourth week 0-3 and somehow ended up beating the crap out of Nebraska behind a stud performance from my RBs who ran for 5 touchdowns and almost 300 yards. Since then I've lost 2 more games, and I'm losing out on all the exciting recruits I need to get back to a bowl game. Great times...

just hopped into it for the first time since 2019. Lost my first game back on a last second INT in the endzone. It was honestly a fun way to get back into it!Comment

Re: How is your dynasty going
Began a Texas St dynasty with the new rosters. Only focused on getting conferences close to 100% accurate for this season and will likely just leave them that way moving forward. I can live with one last dynasty not matching real life in future years with the knowledge that next summer I will be playing a new CFB game.
I am using a slightly tweaked version of Fang's sliders from the Discord. Through two games I am 1-1.
I had a QB controversy to start the year, but that seems settled after game 2. I went with the Jr. who rushed for over 300 yards in my last game. Yes, it was an FCS team, but he has 91 speed and 93 acceleration. With the offense I am running, I value his athleticism over his ability to sit in the pocket and pass.
The main house rule that I am running with is using a sheet another user shared in the Madden forums with a listing of concepts and I built on some tools into the sheet that allow me to input my QB's awareness and that spits out a total number of points I can spend on my playbook. Right now I have it set to where both formations and concepts each = 1 point. That seemed most fair, but I may tweak in future years.
My QB's awareness is 71, so that leaves me with just 14 points to spend, and I went with a more concept heavy playbook with less formations, which was likely going to be the case anyways as I am going for a very spread offense with wider splits, so I only need a handful of formations.
The concepts I am running are power, counter, and outside zone running plays. I also have reads as a concept in the rushing game, but no RPO's. I am using screens and Spacing in the short game. Mesh and Shallow cross in the intermediate game. Dagger and Flood for the deep passing game.
This will be the type of offense I run with this coach throughout the dynasty. The ideal offense has an athletic QB that is a legit rushing threat. I will like my backs to be somewhat physical at least, but speed is still ultimately what I want from the position.
The WR position will be about speed, and the TE's will be receiving threats first. OL will ideally be balanced, but better in run blocking if we have to choose.
We will lean on a physical running game that is setup for success with wide splits. Then, this will set up the passing game where I will be looking for chunk plays and deep shots in the air more so than using it to complement the running attack unless I absolutely need to. Basically, it's a power running attack with a vertical passing game.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: How is your dynasty going
I just started up my last (possibly) Dynasty on NCAA 14 before the new game comes out next summer. Starting as OC for MTSU with the 2013-2014 Rosters.
I try to play slow with a lot of stipulations. If I’m OC, I am only allowed to use the teams default roster formations. I can change plays inside of those formations, but I can’t stray away from those until I’m a HC.
I also try to approach the Coaching Carousel as realistically as possible. Based on (but not limited to) current contract/advancement opportunities, location, and coaching staff.Last edited by DangerRyan; 11-07-2023, 10:53 PM.NCAA: Arkansas Razorbacks

Re: How is your dynasty going
Sitting at 5-3(3-1) with Texas State. Finally have the offense rolling in the 2nd half of the season. Back to back games where the offense has put up 40+. The team has won 4 of the last 5 after getting beat down 35-0 to Texas Tech.
It took awhile to figure out how this offense operated best, but things are going much better now. I'm still very much a wide splits spread team, but we've become much more reliant on the running game than we were earlier in the year. My QB, Hornsby, is just shy of 1,000 yards on the ground already through 8 games. To be fair, he had 323 rushing yards vs FCS earlier in the season, so that skews his numbers a little bit, but he is definitely who the offense revolves around. His running sets up the rest of the team.
The schedule so far
30-35 L at Southern Miss
39-24 W vs FCS Southeast
0-35 L at Texas Tech
34-17 win vs Louisiana
36-27 win vs ULM
34-37 L in OT at Georgia State
43-36 W at South Alabama
42-10 W vs Wyoming
While 5-3 feels good, it is worrying that only only two of my opponents thus far have winning records, and those two teams were Texas Tech and Georgia state, both at 7-2, and both are teams I lost to. Southern Miss, the other loss, is 4-4. The other 5 teams I have beaten are all 2 win teams except for Wyoming who sits at 4-5.
National rankings to this point:
32.3 points/game 19th
409.3 yards/game 26th
194.8 rush yards.game 23rd
214.5 pass yards/game 40th
371.4 yards allowed/game 89th
128.3 rush yards allowed/game 10th
243.1 pass yards allowed/game 121st
I am playing with only 7 minute quarters to keep my stats more in line with the sim stats in the game instead of real life. That keeps me more immersed in the game world doing it that way.
Hornsby, the MVP of the team by far, sits at
97 / 167 58%
1,292 yards
9 TDs
12 INTs
138 carries
937 yards
12 TDs
The interceptions are clearly higher than they need to be, but it comes with playing someone who is a runner first. He only has 71 accuracy, so I have to live with the misses. His general athleticism and explosiveness makes it worth it, plus, as I've always said, when I used these limited playbooks with my houserules, the CPU really feels like it picks up on your tendencies better and adjusts better, so I've noticed teams are really stacking the box more as the season goes on. Maybe it's just Wyoming's scheme in this roster set, but they played with both safeties in the box 99% of the time last game which finally opened up the deep passing attack for the first time all season, and it also really limited my rushing attack until I got into the 2nd half and their defense wore down.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

NCAA 2003…SJSU sim only rebuild…year 15…
It took 14 years and on the 5th coach we finally had a winning season and a bowl appearance with a 9-4 record (bowl loss). The attachment is year 15 headed our 2nd consecutive bowl appearance following our 2nd consecutive winning season. No conference title in either winning season. We finished 2nd in the WAC to SMU in year 15 though.Attached FilesLast edited by NoleFan; 11-12-2023, 08:37 AM.F-L-O-R-I-D-A! S-T-A-T-E! Florida State! Florida State! Florida State! Wooooo!Comment

Re: How is your dynasty going
wrapping up the end of the 2019 Season all as HC of UAB. Made everyone SR's my first season so had a lot of FR and walk ons playing in year 2. After a few bumpy seasons we recruited a 5 * QB Bryan Galloway who half way through the season wasnt getting any looks. He is now a SR and was in the lead for the Heisman, Obrien, and Maxwell until a broken Rib is causing him to miss a few games. We are sitting at 10-0 and the #3 team in the Nation. After this season UAB will be moving to the SEC. I have simulated to see if Galloway would be my first NFL draft pick and despite winning all the awards and being a 97 overall he seems to just graduate which i dont understand.Comment

NCAA 2006
Swapped out FIU (least FBS experience in the game) for Jackson State (FCS team w/ most NFL draft picks in the FCS era). After 6 seasons and on our 2nd coach we've now won consecutive Sun Belt Championships. Sim only 'rebuild'.F-L-O-R-I-D-A! S-T-A-T-E! Florida State! Florida State! Florida State! Wooooo!Comment
