Re: TUTORIAL: How to Disable Drive Goals For Solo CFM

Just in-case there is anyone else wondering how much is changed or how this affects CFM and what the problem is, here is a screenshot of my Offense and Defense after two games (1-1) with Drive Goals on:

And now here's a look at the Seahawks and Ravens from my current CFM, both are 7-1 and started 7-0 and this is after eight weeks of the season:

As you can see, I got at least as much and probably more Confidence playing two games and losing one than the CPU teams have got for playing nearly undefeated football for half the season. This is well known but I figured it can't hurt to have it visualized for those that are curious.

Agree this is really noticeable. If you have a challenging set or team that are 3-3 or even losing record you are going to start seeing my players in red. And there are still members who think we are overthinking it. Oh well.

Sorry if this has been asked, a little unclear on one detail.

When you create the coach for the team you are playing that week, do you play the week under that coach and just select your team at the team select screen? Or do you just create the coach, then go back to your team? Then of course delete the new coach before you advance the week.

You don't create the coach. You add User and take control of existing coach of the team you are going to play next. After you play the game you RETIRE the coach, don't delete him. Then you advance to the next week and repeat the process.

              Can anyone confirm the following:

If I'm about to play the Seahawks, I take over control of the active coach (Pete Carroll) and then go back to my team and play my game.

Now, once the game is over and I go back to the Seahawks to retire Pete Carroll, will Pete Carroll still actually be the coach of the Seahawks in my CFM? Can anyone confirm this to be true?

Or will "Joe Schmoe" be coaching the Seahawks, and I'll have to deal with an entire league full of fake Joe Schmoe coaches because I'll have repeated this process so many times?

I don't want to sound like a jerk but read post 1. It's the number one item from the list that I clarify.

No. Coach is still Carroll. You just lose control from that team.

This process isn't complicated, it's very easy and quick.

JUST READ THE WORDS! It's all explained. And re-explained.

I understand all of that I just worded it poorly. But I figured it out, thanks.

I did read it--back on September 12th. Since then, this thread has grown to thirty plus pages, and it didn't make sense to try and backtrack page by page to find clarification, which is why I needed confirmation.

Patch 2 notes report no changes to drive goals or confidence. But this workaround still works - it wasn't "fixed". Tried it and I can still take control of any coach multiple times and release control right after playing a game against them.

Thank god. Otherwise it would have ruin the game for me.

I guess we have to thank that we still got this way to disable drive goals.

So if I understand this correctly, if I'm playing with the Steelers in week 1 against the Patriots I have to take control over Pete Carroll, move him to the Patriots, play the game, retire Robert Kraft and send Carroll to college football?

                            Just kidding.

Just wanted to say, great work booker! I will definitely use your workaround and I think I'm right in saying that you saved CFM for a LOT of people this year. So, thanks buddy!

I'm in week 2 of regular season, and it's happened during two preseason games, and now this week against Broncos. They just stand there. If I try to super sim to next play, I get error. Then I restart Madden, continue where game left off, and things are good for a few plays, then it may do it again, or may not. It's a crap shoot. Played week one just fine.
I've yet to have anything like this happen to me...

How common or rare is this?

I read that RudyJuly2 is having this issue at times as well and he and kchuskey know what they're doing / looking at...so...

If it does happen, what does one do?

Restart the game / delete the game in progress and start all over or what?

                              Thanks!

It's very rare. I had it twice and I played over 50 games already. If it happen how I was able to by pass it is to play the game without the workaround.

I guess it's a bug inside the bug. You will see invisible players. Lighting changing. And if you super sim kickoff or punts the game will crash to the ps4 menu.
