I’ve had success running the same way I have for years on Madden and NCAA: running to the slot and trips. The CPU will typically pull a backer out to cover the slot, which leaves 6 in the box, and will go to nickel and sometimes even dime against trips/trio formations. That opens up a lot of running lanes. If they have 7/8 in the box, I throw it. Another pro-tip: get yourself a good run blocking center b/c they always block 1 techniques (I wish the guards would block down on them instead), but if you center sucks, the 1 technique will shed him most of the time. I’m averaging over 5 ypc on all-madden w/ no sliders.

Re: Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?
I'm seeing realistic gameplay in the rushing game across my games, of which I have about 50 hours in so far. Yea I still think EA needs to adjust and change some things but overall the rushing game is fantastic this year, by far the best ever in a Madden game because it's wildly different depending upon teams, defenses and running back matchup just like the real NFL.
It really feels organic finally is why it's working well in my opinion

Would love to see videos of your gameplay and what you deem as realistic.Comment

Re: Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?
No! This game with some tweaks plays really close to real nfl! People get made that them or the cpu is not running for 200yds a game or the get mad if they run the ball 3 times and get stopped at the line of scrimmage each time. The running is broke. No it’s just real nfl! You say stats are not happening realistically but a lot of people on here beg to differ! And you give no explanation!
Or they 'get mad' when the ai finishes a game with negative rushing yards...just a guess.Comment

Re: Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?
I’m guessing no one that plays this game understands, that there is only one guy in the history of the NFL that has a career average yds per game over 100 and that’s Jim Brown at 104.3. Everybody else is below 100 a game. The average yards per carry is around 4.1. ThIs game is by far the closest to real running stats in game that madden has had. Just a few small tweets to sliders and my D through 7 games gives up a average of 4.4 yds a carry and around 119 yds a game. Not sure what everyone is complaining about. I guess everyone wants to rush for 300 a game which is unreal.
1.-CPU can't run the ball at all, they do get 1.5yds avg which is very low even for sim stats standards.
2.-Game simulatin simulates low yds. The avg in the nfl is around 3.8 or so in the game is below 3
3.-CPU running logic and blocking logic sucks big time. They may have open field to get 5 or 8yds and they slow down and get tackle for TFL becuase he wanted to change direction when he shouldn't.
4.- I agree with xCoachDx on that the should happen realistically. We can't say the cpu ran great because he had 1 run for 80 yds and 19 for -20yds.
5.-That brings another topic, in REAL NFL, runs are 2, 3 yds gain with a few med/long runs. DL getting the RB on the backfield happens rarely, maybe 2 or 3 times per game. In the game we have easily 10TFL with RB losing 2 or 3 yds instead of gaining 2 or 3 yds.
Not my screen but you may understand why the purpose of this thread.
Tried to look all preseason games, didn0t find 1 single game where the team ended with negative yds.
Yes, you could say sliders can "improve" that, but this should n0t be the case, default should get the CPU able to run decent. Something needs to be done, in my experience with madden, sliders improved or tweak issues within the game but never fix them.
That's all.Last edited by booker21; 08-17-2018, 12:14 AM.English, is not my first language.Comment

Re: Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?
The lack of a computer run game without jumping through hoops by editing traits, ratings and blocking sliders extremely high with tackle low is a big scab on this game. I've had fun but they really need to try and fix this.Comment

I agree with ODogg and have posted videos above and in other threads. Feel free to scroll up or go back a page and watch my videos. I felt my dominant run game with the Legends vs the Browns played out organic and realistic.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?
I know people are taking about blocking and how it’s done. I personally don’t care if when I snap the ball if the offense and defensive line played patty cake or thumb war while I run the ball. as long as at the end of the game the stats are realistic that’s all that matters! People on the thread are complaining about pulling guards and double teams. If the computer had minus yards rushing then adjustments have to be made! I’m using the jets and I’m currently 2-5. I am 21st in total offense 13 in total defense. I’m 16th in rush defense at 100.1 yds a game! I’m 18 in rushing offense at 92.1 yds per game.Last edited by cwilson250733; 08-17-2018, 05:59 AM.Comment

Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?
I've got videos in the photographic thread. However, remember videos are typically highlight runs and realism consist of a lot of plays that are not worth the time to make a video of.
Also, the idea that they CPU cannot run at all is not the case either, I have videos of the CPU running the ball on me as well.

Re: Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?
The CPU running for yards isn't necessarily the problem for me, it's the logical decisions that they do not make are what I am working combatting.
The first down marker seems to be an item they are incredibly reluctant to go towards at times. They rely so much on the blocking when they are behind the OL at the LOS, but they completely disregard the blocks when the RB has past the blockers in the second level. Instead, they focus on juking out a safety 20 yards away, or a linebacker who is already blocked on their sides.
What could have been 20 yards, turns into 7 because they choose to juke/spin unnecessarily. At this point it is all about the sample size of when this occurs. It is a glitch that pops up at random. I understand the editing scene, etc, but there has to be a reason why this issue happens only 2-3 times in the space of a 15-20 attempt game.Comment

Re: Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?
It's crazy to me how people can have polar opposite viewpoints of stuff. We post video after video showing incorrect blocking, players not playing true to their ratings, and so many other issues, and yet other people seem to have different experiences. Blows my mind. It's like there are two different versions of the game floating around out there.Comment

Re: Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?
There is something going on where if you are pressing sprint before your player gets the ball, he won't sprint when he actually gets the ball. Double tapping sprint as he receives it seems to ensure that you hit sprint after he gains possession.Comment

Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?
I offer my twitch as tribute: syncereblackout
I don’t post highlights I just archive full games. No sliders on all pro (sometimes all madden). All games since release are in a test CFM (with the exception of last night which has some MUT squads).

Re: Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?
How many sports games have you played that out of the box without moving slider or making some kind of adjustment plays close to its real life counterpart? None, there is not one out there! You have to make adjustments to your liking! MLB the show and NBA 2k have to have slider adjustments! It’s just part of sports gaming! No company has created the perfect sports game outta the box and probably never will!Comment
