    Re: Official CBA Thread

The bluster and rhetoric that's been coming out since the lockout has been just sickening. If this isn't all just posturing than this is going to last quite some time.

      The plot thickens:

And just when it appears that public opinion would begin to swing firmly in the favor of the owners, the National Football League drop kicks the pendulum in the other direction.

So now the NFL wants to discipline players for what they could do while they are potentially unemployed by the league. That's a new one. Why stop there? Why not discipline us on this forum for "damaging the brand"? You can't have it both ways. I thought it was the league who basically said the players were on their own in a lockout situation.

I'd like to see them try to enforce that because it sure as hell wouldn't hold up in court.

You're actually ok with retroactively punishing players during a period when they were essentially fired, unemployed, and not paid?

                It was a "Friends" reference.

In other news, Kevin Burnett ripped Goodell on a radio show in San Diego.

                http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6229285

"Goodell's full of it. He's a liar. You're a blatant liar. 'It's our league, it's we, we love the players, we want the league,' but what have you done for the players? What have you done, in all honesty, to improve the game, besides fine guys, besides take money away from guys, besides change a game that you've never played? ... He's done nothing to improve the game," Burnett said.

I don't think these interviews helps the players all that much. They voted on leaders, they should let them do the talking.

At this point I'm going to do my best to ignore all the posturing until something is done. Hopefully that is sooner vs later.

Another anti trust case the NFL lost to American needle. The Supreme Court voted 9-0 in favor of American needle. A 9-0 decision is a "child please" vote.

Maybe, but players speaking out on the bull**** PR is a sign of solidarity with leadership.

I agree. The owners asked out of the current CBA, and asked for a billion off the top without a shred of evidence they are losing on the current deal. If the players just keep their mouths shut, I think most fans would gravitate towards them.

Asking rookies to skip the biggest moment of their lives or going on interviews claiming to be in some type of "slavery" isn't going to to do anything positive for them.

Didn't the owner just do what they chastise players for? You have a contract that you signed. A few years later you feel like you got a bad deal. So a player would "Hold out" for a better deal. Well the owners are "holding out" right now. Seems hypocritical to me.
