Re: Official CBA Thread
I love the "they just play a game" and "they are making millions!" comments.
They arent employees...this is a partnership. Fans dont come to games to watch the owners but without the owners there isnt a place for the players to play. I dont give a **** about any other concessions the owners made. I dont care if they took the 18 game season of the table (which was BS anyway) or offered to add more money to the pension. The bottom line is if you are asking for more money back...you should show why you need that money.
With that said, I'm 99% we wont miss a game. All we will miss is FA and NFL FA is the least exciting of all the major sports. The draft is still happening and I think by August they will have a deal.

It appears that the NFLPA told 15-20 top prospects who were likely to get invited to New York for the NFL Draft to boycott appearing, sources say that's it likely to happen.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Since that is the case I give this a 50/50 shot for the players. That Doty guy is the union's favorite judge. He's judged favorably for the union for at least 20 years now!Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Official CBA Thread
It is IMO.
With the exception of last summer, more people are interested in the NBA Trade Deadline than the NBA FA Period. Can't say the same about the NFL.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Official CBA Thread
I think the NFL FA period is pretty boring but the other sports are about on the same level imo. It may end up being more exciting this year if it's down to just a couple of weeks, creating a lot of movement at once (when usually it's so spread out that we can't really get excited with anticipation).Comment

Re: Official CBA Thread
On free agency being exciting, I'd contend that at least the first week of NFL offseason free agency, when the biggest names make their moves, is exciting or at the very least generates a ton of discussion.
Whether it be big signings such as the Redskins signing Albert Haynesworth, big name releases such as the Cowboys cutting Terrell Owens, or what have you (I'm sure there are other examples but those are the first two that come to mind), there's normally something significant to talk about this time of year. Even the pickups of mid-tier players gets discussed to an extent.
It's a product of the NFL's "there is no offseason" mantra.Comment

Re: Official CBA Thread
^Which is exactly why I don't think the NFL FA Period is the "worst" of the major sports because even the players not necessarily on the A-List of Free Agents still get talked about because we're interested in seeing where they land as well and not just where the Mannings and the Brady's of the World sign up.#RespectTheCultureComment
