Re: Official CBA Thread
Everyone who is a fan wants this thing resolved as quickly as possible. My Sundays wouldn't be the same if I couldn't start watching a game, take two or three naps, wake up and still be in the 3rd quarter of the same game! That's what I live for! "I don't have time to be arguing. With the owners and us as millionaires, there shouldn't even be an argument," "It disgusts me, it's really an unfortunate situation. But it is what it is. I am on the fans' side. I want football, but to be focused on an argument over revenue is silly. We got people out here struggling, and there's no reason a deal shouldn't have gotten done." ~ Chad Johnson (Ocho Cinco)

Re: Official CBA Thread
Yeah it's pretty much the owners closing down all of their facilities to players, not the players just not showing up. I remember a Saints players the other day tweeted "Going to locker room to get cleats and workout clothes before I get locked out", pretty much sums it up.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Official CBA Thread
So I wonder if Harbaugh is regretting his decision at this point. Do coaches still get paid in this situation?"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Broncos on opening their books
Bowlen is willing to open his books from the past five seasons if it means getting a deal done.
"If the league decides they want to open up the books of the Denver Broncos to present them to the union — I don't know if the league is into identifying individual clubs because they're private businesses," Ellis said. "But with a neutral (auditor) to verify the fact that certain teams haven't been operating as effectively as they did in the past, we're a willing and able participant.''
The union has asked to see the owners audited financial records from the past 10 years before it agrees to more concessions.
"We offered to show the union league-wide and club profitability data," Ellis said. "Not only that it can be verified by a mutually agreed upon third-party auditor. This is the type of information we don't share with each other. In other words, we aren't allowed to see how other teams are doing specifically in terms of revenues and expenses. Everything is very formalized in terms of information we get from other clubs. Now the union didn't even want to look at it."
e
Ellis, who attended negotiations along with Broncos owner Pat Bowlen on Friday. "The union didn't even want to look at it. They claimed the information was useless. But the fact is this: Since the agreement in 2006 was struck, players' costs have risen at double-digit percentages and owners' profits around the league essentially were at single-digit increases, if any. You get one line going one way and another line going the other way as you're trying to grow the game and make the game better. That's what the owners were putting on the table in a very genuine way."
In his first interview since labor negotiations began in earnest three weeks ago, Ellis did not hide his disappointment as he recounted the historic events of Friday, when the NFL Players Association decertified its union, a move that brought collective bargaining to the courts. The NFL countered by instituting a lockout against the players.
"Pat certainly believes they had no real good intention of negotiating and their goal all along was to go down the path of litigation," Ellis said. "It's extremely disappointing and it frustrates Pat. It makes him angry. He's fully aware that it makes our friends, our constituents, our season-ticket holders and everybody who supports us angry and disappointed."Last edited by av7; 03-13-2011, 03:34 PM.Aaron
