Plenty to blame both sides for, but it's pretty clear the union drew a line in the sand from the start and never budged.

Exactly. The players didn't start this battle.

Seriously you go ask anyone for money you're not gonna say "oh hey give me $20", without the person asking why or what for.

Plenty of blame goes around I suppose, but mainly I respect what the players are doing. It may seem selfish to some, but it's like any other strike they are sticking up for what they believe in or deserve.

I bet we don't see any list of concessions that were made to get a deal done like this from the union - http://nfllabor.com/2011/03/11/nfl-t...ara-jeff-pash/

I wasn't expecting anything to get done within this deadline, way too big of a task to get done in 7 days and only negotiating a few hours a day over 5 days.

If the NFL can still exist without of the Union, then the owners need to do nothing.

Nine NFL players have jointly filed a lawsuit against the NFL to prevent a lockout.

Ten players, including Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees, have filed an antitrust lawsuit against the NFL, seeking to prevent the owners from locking the players out.

I find it interesting that Von Miller is involved in the lawsuit along with 2 guys who voluntarily sat out most of last season.

Again, why should the players give the owners back $1B without evidence that such is needed? Doesn't matter what other concessions the owners offered, the crux of the issue never changed.

So does this mean Goodell's salary will be $1 come Monday?

He's more than likely set for life regardless. As if it really matters to him in the long run. He's chillin' right now.

I remember hearing that a while back if this were to happen. What is the point of him receiving 1 dollar anyway, dudes already rich?

I don't know what this is going to do for the players other than there being football this season. Now the owners don't have to pay any league minimum, now they can offer minimum wage to all draft picks if they want. If you don't have a contract, you are going to be screwed. All players would now have to honor their contracts.

The NFLPA knew from the start of this process that litigation was their best route. It's a good business move by them. As individual employees of the NFL, the players can now proceed with legal action, even possibly blocking any lockout with a court injunction. If the owner's books are opened up for all to see, then the fun really begins.

Forbes had some good reading pertaining to the situation,

The numbers show that the disparities between team fortunes, not player salaries, are at the heart of the NFL's economic problems.

What it shows is that the NFL has an ever increasing gap between the 32 team's revenue figures. To me, that's an in-house problem. Instead, the owners and their fearless leader, Goodell, want the players to pay for their own ineptness. Player salaries are just part of the problem, but as a business, you must clean up before you ask for the type of concessions the NFL is asking for.

What the lawsuit basically does, if successful (and it likely will be), is it will force the NFL to institute some set of rules to govern free agency and draft pick contracts; likely either what existed in the 2010 season or some semblence of what the NFL was proposing to the players.

It (likely) doesn't fundamentally change anything from what we've previously known, yet.

I want to see your profits.. Its really ridiculous to me..
They want to give benefits to the older players, set
a rookie cap and still pay veterans handsomely..

These guys are not curing cancer, saving life's or
doing anything important.. I love football, but I
work for a living.. Millionaires like Jerry Jones made
their money through business, they are Millionaires
for a reason.. 70% of the Players in the NFL would
only have three career options if they were not playing
                                football..
