Do college teams do parades at all? Much less on a different city than the school is located?

if i were the NCAA and LSU I would do a few things to change this from happening again 1st I would hire security company to handle all College Championship and playoff games keep the
Law enforcement officers on the outside of stadiums.
That would cost a lot of money, not happening.

I’m very much pro-LE as I work very close with them in my line of work, but issuing an arrest warrant for an *** slapping and calling it battery is an absolute joke.

I’ve seen what real battery looks like an an *** slapping isn’t it.

The guy filed assault charges on him...the police did not charge him themselves.

According to this article NOPD issued the arrest warrant, which means they intent to charge him:

The warrant is in connection to alleged contact he made with a security guard in the locker room after Monday’s national championship game.

That typically happens when the victim presses charges, yeah. Last I read simple battery is up to 6 months in jail (surely converted to something else) and up to a $1000 fine.

Any repercussions from the NFL will most certainly be more significant.

I don't mean this facetiously because I really don't know.

But is it really common to go from one person filing a charge to arrest warrant without any due diligence being done? That seems to be a little too quick to judgement for me.

I mean, that seems like I could go to the police station today, and alleged someone at work smacked me on the butt today and have it turn into an arrest warrant right away??

The video of the incident was released after the arrest warranted was issued.

Warrants are justified to and signed off on by a judge. Doesn't mean he's guilty, just means a crime has been alleged and he would be released on bail immediately after questioning and/or arraignment. Then the rest of the legal process plays out.

Seems quick to me too fwiw, but this is a pretty simple case. What an idiot.

There's video of the incident, so there's proof. Seems like there isn't any detective work to do.

Well, like I said, I'm not pretending to be an expert in it but the video was released after the warrant was issued.

That's really all I was asking for clarification on.

Oh I thought the video was out that next morning. Maybe the police were presented the video at the time of the charges or something

                              I propose 2 questions:

1: What is LSUs security protocol which permits a police officer in a locker room after their win. Why does he need to be there? Are you really gonna take the easy layup with underage drinking?

2: Odell: Why do you have to be you? Lay low.
