Yes, ****ty Atlanta, ****ty Miami and ****ty Washington. Don't you think they'd have changed out of those games if they could? They lucked up at the end of the year and got a small bunch of good games. You really think they would have stuck with San Fran/Washington, San Fran/Atlanta, Tampa/Miami or NY Giants/Minnesota? Those were throw away games. Just as bad as many of the Thursday night games you're panning.

The Saturday games are a doubleheader during week 16.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. I never said ESPN has as much say in determining the MNF lineup as NBC does with SNF.

What I said was that NBC and ESPN both have more say in crafting their lineups than will CBS/NFLN, by virtue of the fact than the NFL will be requiring every team to play at least one short week thurs game in 2014.

They could throw Jacksonville and Houston out there and still draw 14 mil on network TV.

CBS/NFLN are banking on that being the case. We'll see.

I'm not so sure CBS gets no say either.

I would be willing to bet those first 8 games each have at least one proven ratings draw like Dallas, New York, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, etc. involved in them.

Even 'bad' matchups early in the year will attract viewers for a lot of reasons outside of 'it's football'. The Texans for example may be rolling into Jacksonville with the 1st overall pick starting at QB, and who knows what moves the Jags may make in the draft/free agency but they're certainly a work in progress.

Either way, parity is a beautiful thing, and so is hope - the hope all fans have early in the season when these games will be on CBS and every team theoretically is a contender, or can beat any other team.

Wouldn't the first Thursday game be a conference championship rematch anyway? Seahawks/Niners in this case? It's already a good decision.

I'm not sure why anyone cares? As long as you can access the game you want to watch, who cares who watches what…

For me, I didn't watch ONE Thursday Night NFL game this year (not one minute of a single game) despite having NFL Network, yet I watched several of the CFB games. I don't see this deal changing that.

I'm pretty sure NBC still gets the Thursday night season opener. I believe CBS's package starts in week 2.

And it's not always necessarily a conference championship rematch.

Everyone will watch. It's the NFL that's a given. Doesn't make it a good product. They should get rid of the whole Thursday games anyway. also smh Saturday is CFB. Just leave NFL on Sundays. Change is bad.

                          That's my hot take.

I don't like the Thursday night games, but people will watch. Texans-Jaguars was a Thursday night game in December. It was the top-rated show for the night even though it was on NFL Network.

I'm fine with some Saturday games once college football has completed its regular season.

This year if they did it during week 16 like they will next year, it would have been on the opening day of bowl games. Not that college football hasn't dealt with NFL games around this time before.
