Yea I absolutely love Hard Knocks, I end up rooting for players I've never heard of playing for a team I never really liked or followed.

One of my favorite moments from a couple of seasons ago was Phil Dawson making the pro bowl... only because of how it was presented on the weekly TV show that ran all season covering the Browns. It was buried on the Travel channel and not an official NFL produced thing so I think the exposure to it was pretty low ( http://www.travelchannel.com/shows/w...eveland-browns).

Would love to have more of that, as well as produced documentary-style post-mortems of the off seasons for air at a later date (would love to see how the last couple of months unfolded from within the Eagles front office, for example).

Ray McDonald in trouble again

Bears defensive lineman Ray McDonald is about to have his character assassinated all over again.

McDonald, who became a lightning rod for controversy following a domestic violence accusation last year and later was abruptly cut following a separate accusation of sexual assault, has been arrested, according to Damian Trujillo of NBC Bay Area.

Per Trujillo, the new allegation is domestic violence and “possible child endangerment.”

The NFL previously has cleared McDonald of potential Personal Conduct Policy violations arising from the first 2014 incident. McDonald has said he will sue his accuser from the second incident, claiming that footage from his home surveillance system shows that their sexual encounter was “clearly consensual.”

“I had two incidents [in which] I feel like I didn’t do anything wrong, but still it’s in the spotlight,” McDonald said last month. “It was in the national spotlight for quite some time. I’m just trying to move forward from it.”

The 49ers absorbed plenty of criticism for not suspending McDonald pending the resolution of the initial incident from August 2014; this time around, the allegation could result in placement of McDonald on the Commissioner Exempt list, given the NFL’s new approach to accusations of violent crime. McDonald would be paid his base salary, but he’d be prevented from practicing or playing.

The suspension won’t matter if the Bears decide to sever ties with McDonald. Owner George McCaskey has said he initially didn’t want to sign McDonald based on his history. but McCaskey deferred to G.M. Ryan Pace.

For Pace, the incident becomes the first blemish on his record as the architect of the team’s football operation. What Pace does next will likely be a factor in whether the blemish becomes a scar.

Lt. Kurt Clarke said in a news release that McDonald was arrested after officers said he "physically assaulted the victim while she was holding a baby." Police were called to a disturbance at 3:48 a.m. at an apartment in Santa Clara, only to find that McDonald had left to go to a friend's home in San Jose.
NBC Bay Area was the first to break the story.

According to sources, McDonald was arrested at the home of retired 49er Justin Smith in the Silver Creek neighborhood of San Jose. Neighbors said they saw police cars about 6 a.m. Monday.
Another source said that he rents an apartment in Santa Clara on Carlyle Court for his ex-fiancee and baby. The source said that on Sunday night, McDonald went out with friends and wanted to return to the apartment and asked her to leave. He left to give her some space, the source said, and when he returned, the police had been called.

To be fair, most men in a situation where they could be arrested aren't the cream of the crop within society either.
