Oakland mayor has the framework of a deal in place with a group led by Ronnie Lott to try and keep the Raiders in Oakland.

Remains to be seen if it's a viable plan.

      Crazy stat:

NFL kickers are 44/45 on Field Goals from 32-33 yards this year, but have missed an astounding 48 extra points from that same distance.

I know, hence why 2007 doesn't say playoffs next to it.

I heard it yesterday on a sports talk show but I forget the exact number. I think it's like 94 or 95 and it's down from last year.

I understand. I just wanted to make sure it was clear to others. I could have worded it better.

My real agenda was really just to point out that the old Browns last playoff game and the new Browns first playoff game were both losses in Pittsburgh. [emoji12]

Like mentioned in the article... It would be funny as ****, if they only made ONE gold can and watch the chaos unfold... That is TV I would pay to watch!

I really thought this guy was going to be a very good RB in this league instead he's thrown it all down the toilet.

Turns out it's not a deal at all, just the framework to begin talking about acquiring the land the Colliseum sits on.

The 'Raiders Stadium Deal' That Isn't a Stadium Deal at All

Writer recaps what would probably need to happen for Oakland to remain in Oakland:

One, the Raiders have to fail on Vegas. This can happen one of two ways. Either eight or more of the remaining 31 NFL owners can withhold approval for Davis to move, or his stadium financing plan ($750 million from the state, already earmarked, $650 million from casino owner Sheldon Adelson, who is sounding hinky about the deal, and $500 million from Davis, the NFL and other sources) collapses.

Two, having failed in Nevada, the Raiders either watch the San Diego Chargers exercise their option on the Inglewood deal currently being run by Stan Kroenke and the Los Angeles Rams, or the Chargers pass on the option and leave it for Davis to exercise instead.

Or three, Davis pulls out of both on his own, fearing that he will be forced to give up operational control of the team in Las Vegas and be fearful of being fiendishly squeezed by Landlord Kroenke until his eyes shoot across the convention center.

At that point, if Oakland and the Lott/Fortress people can come to an agreement, you might have a deal that involves a stadium and the Raiders.

That stadium is considered by most experts, including Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf, to run in the neighborhood of $1 billion, with the city and county’s contribution limited to infrastructure improvements that are loosely estimated now at around $190 million, to be generated by some new tax or taxes as opposed to access to the general fund.

Yeah Oakland doesn't have the money and probably wouldn't pay even if it did after the last deal they signed with the team.

And I wouldn't think Lott would have the kind of money to be a part owner of an NFL team or partly finance the stadium, unless he's got some tech billionaire backing him.

I don't think even Joe Montana would have that kind of money.

Lott is working with Fortress investment group, who reportedly have $70b+ in assets. As listed above though, a lot probably needs to happen for any development in Oakland to become relevant, but stranger things have happened.
