Looks like Oakland's mayor has maybe moved from '$0 taxpayer dollars for the Raiders' to $200m.

The mayor has to do everything she can to try and keep the team in Oakland especially with how well the team is doing now. If the Raiders were playing like crap with no hope for the future than yeah, she can stick to her guns but it's not politically expedient to do so when you have a team that could challenge for a SB for the next few years suddenly up and leave and you gave them no chance to work on a deal.

They're going to lose the Warriors in a couple of years and of course the A's want a new stadium too.

City is not the richest one around either.

It obviously doesn't hurt, but, anecdotally from just living in Long Beach, the Rams are the 3rd/4th/5th most popular team in their own city behind Oakland/SF/Pitt/Dallas/GB. I'd place Oakland as the most popular team, and I'd say that they've remained so since they left. I will say that the Rams are probably more popular than the Chargers at least in LA County, but I can't speak for the OC. San Diego is more popular out there, but the Rams have always been more popular there as well.

The Rams have a chance to change that, but they'll need to win, and if Oakland moved back to LA, it likely wouldn't ever change. You might have a situation similar to the Lakers and Clippers, but even with the relative success of the Clippers, and the abysmal record of the Lakers, there really hasn't been much change in popularity.

There's also a lot more, for lack of a better term, cultural weight, particularly in Los Angeles, to the Raiders. The brand itself is just much stronger, and was even before the recent resurgence. The Raiders coming to LA, especially if they had continued success, would be the death knell of the Los Angeles Rams. They simply would not be able to compete, it would be an exact replay of how it was before.

Best case for the Rams, no one else comes to LA, they have some success, and can build back up. I think San Diego would be a non-factor, they're vastly overestimating their fanbase in the LA area, and would be much better off making it work in SD.

Sorry for rambling, I'm really bored and kinda geek out on this stuff.

Can't front, I wouldn't mind seeing the Raiders going back to LA if they can't stay in Oakland.

Well the Rams COO said today that it's unfair to judge Fisher on his record. Maybe they'll judge him on game prep.

Maybe after the season is over, he can present him with a participation trophy.

Clay Matthews is a whiny bitch. He should know what a cheap shot is considering he doles em out enough. That was a great block.

That's not a cheap shot. That's called being blindsided. Looked perfectly legal to me.
