Bills hire former Texans GM Brian Gaine to a personnel role.
Love it. Think he got a raw deal in Houston and lost a power struggle to a coach who has no business calling plays, let alone the shots for a whole franchise.
Pretty much every move McDermott/Beane has made since coming to Buffalo has been the right one, and I expect this to be more of the same.
Fate of the Bills still rests on if Josh Allen becomes a legitimate NFL QB. Year 1 was... fun. Hoping Year 2 brings more progression and consistency as the team develops around. Our defense is pretty good, so we need to take advantage of that while the unit is in place and players like Edmunds and White are cheap.
Didn’t realize Gaine was with Buffalo in 2017 as part of Beane’s original front office. Left last year for the Texans GM job. Back in 2019. Cool.Last edited by slickdtc; 07-23-2019, 11:13 AM.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: NFL Off Topic
His problem is now he is only making $2,500 a year for 2 years.
I'm not sure what the NFLPA is doing, but they need to offer free advise and contacts to reputable financial management companies who can handle this type of money. You can't force the players to take their help, but you can make sure they know it is available to them.Last edited by p_rushing; 07-24-2019, 12:40 PM.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
NFL and NFLPA both have programs and resources.
Loosely related:
NFLPA has sent out a Work Stoppage Worksheet, asking NFL players to set aside half of each paycheck with a work stoppage “on the horizon.” Also suggests not starting new biz ventures & cutting all non-mortgage debt by end of 2020 season. https://t.co/Xiy2gv6ntl

I don’t know how realistic setting aside half of each paycheck is, but getting a 2 year heads up that you might be temporarily out of a job is a good look from the PA.
Obviously, these guys make 100x as much as us average folks, but they also live a different lifestyle. Just like if something happened (pay cut, hour cut) to us, they might have to make some changes to be able to weather a stoppage. I doubt we’ll see a season cancelled like the NHL, but they could miss some games. They’re lucky to be getting a long warning. Most of us don’t when we get axed for non performance issues.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
