Half the teams will play more home games than road games. Seems like a slight advantage for the ones with the extra home game that year. Sure they'll be the ones at disadvantage the following year, but just seems weird.

I'm guessing it'd be 2 divisions per conference?

But odd numbered season has rarely happened. 87 and 82 because of strike, and 37-42 and 46 as a regular schedule.

Can we just give up on the halftime show?

        Or do something different?

I mean...the Bud Bowl was better than almost every performer for the past umpteen years.

Selected fans from each team competing in stupid on-field contests would arguably be better.

Good thing I don’t watch the Halftime Show and even better than I’m not forced to either. [emoji2377]

I've always kind of liked this idea. Not just international but potential future NFL markets and other football stadiums that meet the requirements.

That's a fair question and not something I had considered.

It's actually a somewhat easy answer though, one year the AFC gets the extra home game and the next year the NFC gets the extra home game.

That could be problematic with scheduling though unless you add an interconference game against a team in a different division of the other conference than what you team is playing that year.

By doing it that way, when it comes to tiebreakers for the playoffs, you aren't worrying about a different amount of home/away games.

You could also do what Jr. suggested but I wouldn't be too interested in 16 neutral site games.

I like neutral site more for preseason. Three preseason games - one home, one road, one neutral (college stadium maybe).

Just stick with 16 for the regular season.

Neutral site games inside some of the more famous CFB venues would be pretty cool. Though, I image the novelty would wear off rather quickly.

I bet that’s why the proposal to 17 is in play... the NFL is in to making money, playing a bunch of regular season games in places that don’t get them regularly? $$$$

The 16 game, 32 team league with 4 divisions and 2 conferences is about as close to perfect as you can get. Almost makes me want to like math. I hope it never changes.

When? I’ve only known the NFL (in non strike years) to play 14 or 16 games.

I didn't use strike years as a quantifier?

I think there was a strike mid season at one point so I can understand the odd number of games in that case but in other strike years, the season didn't start until the strike was over but they still went with an odd schedule and it worked out fine.

The 17 game proposal game from the NFLPA, not the NFL as I understand it.

Exactly. It is like the NCAA Basketball having the perfect 64 team bracket tournament and then adding those stupid play-in games.

As for the halftime show, Shakira is enough to carry it, J-Lo's inclusion feels tacked on.
