    Both things were dumb.
Jeebs comparing FA to slavery missed the mark. Its a double standard but slavery? Nah, man. But he pointed out it was a bad comparison so eh

And Mentch's (who at this point I'm convinced is either Skip Bayless or is trying to emulate him) is a strong contender for dumbest post of the year

It's the only way I get people attention around here. You got all these crazy *** double standards in free agency.

Like a player could sign a contract. And then get cut the next off season. Wait... Why do we even have a contract then? Why not go year to year for every player? I MF love football to death (on the field). But the way they treat the players it feels like some weird *** back street deal doesn't really matter. I get that some of these guys get signing bonuses. Some of these contracts are BS. Their reasoning for cutting players sometimes is total BS.

I'm sorry, I always have to use slavery. And I know for most, that trigger's around here. Football is a brutal sport. How can a player get cut at any moment? Like any moment. Coaches/Fans base/Owners will just say "next body".

Let's just drop the slavery comparisons please.

There are many ways to get your point across without making that comparison (you did a good job of it just now before even bringing it up again).

Sir, please take a few days off of OS. I know it wasn’t a direct comparison and I’m assuming we’re ALL smart enough to know that it’s not without it being explained but I don’t need it compared to slavery to know that double standards exist.

Wanted Baltimore to get a WR, but looking at Golladay's contract I can't be mad at them for sitting it out.

That free agent market for skill positions is brutal.

Edit: JuJu apparently had no interest in signing with Baltimore, even with the team going after him hard.
Does make me wonder if Baltimore is not a desirable landing spot for WRs

What was Baltimore offering? If it was a one year deal like he took with Pittsburgh so he can give free agency another shot next year I can’t blame him. I’m sure if they offer a WR what Golladay got they’ll have no problem signing a WR

Pretty sure it was a multi-year deal, but probably not the amount of money JuJu must think he can get next year after this prove it campaign.

They're not going to offer that kind of money in FA. The front office is stingy and prefers sticking to the bargain bin (which they are very very good at, but we need a #1 WR)

I didn't know he was from Brooklyn. Or should I say born there.

So new development on Deshaun Watson situation.

Lawyer Tony Buzbee said he will submit affidavits and evidence from women alleging sexual assault by Deshaun Watson to the Houston police and district attorney on Monday. He also said he will request a grand jury to consider the evidence.

I wonder now once the DA gets this stuff. Will they press charges.

The reports I've heard said the Ravens offered JJSS $9M with another $4 in incentives for one year. He took $8M to stay in Pittsburgh.

Depending on how difficult the incentives would have been to reach, it could have been a bundle of money he passed on but it was definitely at least a million dollars.

My gut is that he looked at the number of followers the Ravens and Chiefs have on social media compared to the Steelers and decided it wasn't worth it. It would not surprise me at all if that was a big part of his decision.

He makes a lot of money through social media so it wouldn't make sense to him to upset that in a year when the cap went down and he can't get someone to give him a 5/85M kind of deal.

He punted, decided to keep his followers happy and will try again next year.

He's a very good and tough receiver but the Steelers have no depth problems there. I would have been happier if they used that money to keep Mike Hilton.

Calling things dumb because you dont agree with them shows your ignorance on real world concepts. Skip Bayless is a joke and a dumb homer, so don't try that comparison on me either. Why would the team that just signed him to a massive long term extension bend the knee to him and trade him to another team when they hold all the leverage? Watson can either play or he can miss out on millions of dollars, they don't have a single reason to trade him unless they get an offer they cant refuse

It's perfectly ok to demand a trade with 1 or 2 years left on your contract if you dont think the team is going anywhere. When you do it with 4 years left on it, you come off as a total baby and the dude knew that Hopkins had been traded and that the team was headed in the wrong direction well before he signed the extension

I shouldnt be surprised you guys are taking the player's side though. If you look at this through only a surface level lens, I suppose it makes sense why Watson is frustrated with the team. However, he totally did this one to himself. Nobody told him to sign an extension and nobody has appointed him with power to make general manager decisions. There's no way I would ever trade him and if he sits out and avoids playing, then he doesn't get his extension money. Nobody is going to be dumb enough to jeopardize that

This is Carson Palmer part 2. The Bengals didnt cave to his demands until they got an offer they couldnt refuse. And they played it perfectly and the Texans should do the same. So far, they're saying the right things and handling the situation properly. I'm hoping for more of the same going forward
