Still all that is the past, and its the right decision because:
-The Jets blew the cost controlled years of Sam's contract and they get another chance to take advantage of Wilson's
-Sam got worse in year 3 not better
-Sam has missed time every year
-Just way too many unknowns to pass on a qb worthy of the #2 pick
I give Sam credit for the professional way he handled this mess. You never heard him bitch and wine to the media (although I'm sure he was seething inside).

Darnold had no chance to succeed due to his situation but people who haven't watched him closely make too many excuses for him. He's a terrible QB in his own right--he's turnover prone, poor at pre-snap reads, poor pocket presence, loses his poise easily, slow to process information, and doesn't see the field well. He's the classic trap QB who has natural talent and makes a few mind-blowing plays and tricks you into thinking he can be the guy.

I hope he crushes it in Carolina but I have my doubts. Hopefully he can thrive dumping it off to Cafe and on play-action.

Teddy has a $20M cap number this year, Darnold is like $4.8M or something. Next year Darnold goes up to $18M, but Teddy can be cut with a minimal dead cap hit after this season.

My guess is they try to trade Teddy, but if they can't, they'll keep him as the backup. Will Grier has never been a real option so he's surely going to get cut, and PJ Walker can be the emergency QB.

Exactly how I feel. There’s a chance he can ascend in his 4th year, but it’s unlikely.

I feel like the trade was fair value for both parties, but also is puzzling for Carolina. They have to really believe in Sam D because from my seat he either isn’t an upgrade over Teddy or is minimally better. The picks they gave up would probably have had more impact on their roster than Sam over Teddy. They made a move because they felt they had to, but they’re still left grasping at air IMO.

Jets fans have to be happy they have clarity now, though. Gotta be Wilson there, right?

The puzzling thing to me is that they gave Bridgewater all that money and are pulling the plug after a year when he played exactly how he did the rest of his career minus a five game stretch in 2019. Darnold has more upside but the odds of him taking that next step seem unlikely. I’m assuming they feel better about Darnold that any QB they feel will be available to them to draft

Hmm, yeah. I’ve always pegged Teddy as pretty conservative with the ball, but he had more turnovers (INT + FUM) than TD’s last year. Obviously I don’t watch Carolina games that much, but his numbers seem like a worse Tyrod Taylor when he was at his peak with Buffalo. Yet Tyrod threw more TD, fumbled less and threw less INT’s. But he completed a good % less of his passes, so the result ended up being frustratingly conservative — probably how Panthers fans feel about Teddy.

Welp, Sam D will probably sling it around a good bit more. Just not sure if that will end up as a net positive for them.

                  It’s always been Wilson.

Delusional Jets fans are pissed simply because Sam is a nice kid. Nice doesn’t win games.

Carolina gave up too much (the 2nd next year) because they believe they were squeezed out once SF traded up.

Having watched his career, Sam has picked up some terrible habits that any 4th yr player worth his salt would have corrected by now regardless of how poor the coaching has been. Throwing into triple coverage, not throwing the ball away, etc.

One of the QBs will fall to 8th. Mac likely.

This is Carolina saying Sam for the next 2 years is better than any upside that Mac would bring.

Best value Carolina could hope for is probably to recoup a 4th round pick. I'd strongly consider whether keeping him as insurance has more value.

Broncos would take him if something could be worked out with his current contract. They've wanted to bring in veteran competition for Lock all offseason and Teddy has the connection with Paton.

From what I've read, the contract is the primary hinderance right now.

Teddy got hurt around week 12 or so. Before that, he was who he's always been (low turnovers, low TDs, decent efficiency). After that injury, his turnovers skyrocketed all the while he wasn't pushing the ball downfield.

It was incredibly frustrating to watch. Darnold will be an upgrade just because of his willingness to push the ball downfield with DJ Moore and Robby Anderson on the outside. With CMC back, David Moore as another deep threat, and a very likely pick at TE to upgrade that position and continued upgrades on the OL, Darnold will have everything he needs to succeed.

If he can't do it, the Panthers will be back in the QB market after 2022 with several pieces nearing re-sign range or recently re-signed. It would be the perfect time to draft a QB and build around the rookie contract.

The comments on this subject are all over the place and scary.

I feel like everytime these things happen. I learn some crazy detail in criminal vs civil case.

One said she's not after money. But it was revealed that she's asking 100K. I think the same person had the encounter with him. But then returned for other sessions. Which is extra weird if you ask me. But again I wish we could get the full story.

None of the things I said have been confirmed or have articles. I just read some comments on the subject.

I don't have any problem with the Darnold trade from Carolina's side other than the timing. Who knows what happens between now and draft day (remember Laremy Tunsil's gas mask bong?) there could be a QB they want unexpectedly sitting there at #8, and New York would have been fine to make this deal on draft night.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.
