Yeah, I don't think Warren was the impact player some are suggesting. He was cut by the Patriots for a reason. I think Marcus Thomas is more important, honestly.

As a testament to what Coach Fox will help with in terms of the offense, here is a sound bite from Kyle Orton and the Denver Post:

Last year's offense was so pass-focused, Orton said by midseason opposing defenses often weren't even trying to defend the run.

"It helps you in the key situations, red zone and third down," Orton said. "Obviously we can hand the ball off on third-and-4 rather than getting all these crazy blitzes and coverages, so it's going to help the whole offense."

Was he cut? I thought he was a free agent. Either way, the Patriots didn't value him enough to keep him.

I was leary of the move just because Denver has done a lot of this (signing older D-linemen) in the past and they get burned more often than not. I liked the other DL signings because they are younger, inexpensive guys with something to prove. I was concerned about Warren's drive...he's already got a couple of rings and I believe he's been a pro-bowler (not sure).

Maybe it will work out, but we won't know this year. However, it also sounds like Denver isn't going to put him on IR so he has a chance to come back later in the year. That move takes up a roster spot.

It also sounds like Ayers is failing to impress. That's disappointing. I was hoping he'd excel moving back to the line. It's still early... maybe he will.

Warren is out roughly 3 to 6 months. I don't see him coming back this year. For Knowshon Moreno, he NEEDS to enter the regular season healthy. He has yet to enter the season with a clean bill of health and it has hurt him dearly. He's in better shape, which is good because it seemed to me in his first two years that he got winded easily. And that's in a system that barely ran the ball. I think McGahee is going to have a substantial role.

Here's a neat lil' read; an interview with Kyle Orton about camp thus far: http://sportsradiointerviews.com/201...os-kyle-orton/

Robert Ayers keeps showing flashes, but he can't seem to put it together and be consistent. That's an issue when the offensive line's main concern is on the opposite side with Dumervil. In the first preseason game, I did see Ayers in the back field on several plays, so it's encouraging. I really want this kid to succeed. Even if he can be moderately successful, it'll be a huge boon for us. He's back in a position he's familiar, and teams will be watching Miller and Dumervil. If he can't have success now, he's going to be looking at the label "bust."

I am in complete agreement with this article.
Biggest problem with the article is it's all about Orton, not about who should be starting instead and why. No reason to even touch on other stupid things like why other teams picked different guys than Orton (maybe he should mention what Denver was asking for in return?). I think this comment sums up what we've been trying to say:

Orton is medocre there aint no doubt. But what has Tebow done to deserve to be the starter? If he can’t get it done in a controlld situation, how is he going to do it in a game? He went 1-2 last year. And none of those three teams made the playoffs. The only win was against Houston one of the worst defenses ever. And in those three games he was under 50%. That won’t win in the NFL. And he can’t run around like he did last year and expect to play all 16 games. Looks to me like he didn’t do the work that everybody thought he did on his mechanics. Otherwise he wouldn’t be throweng wobbleng ducks on sports center and throwing balls behind receivers against no defense.
Now it sounds like this guy is a bit of a Tebow *****, which I'm not (and don't think anyone else that's been talking about this is). But the main point is the kid just isn't ready to take the spot. We're not talking about Young behind Montana here... or even Kolb behind Mcnabb or Leinart behind Warner. In other words, we're not saying Orton is GREAT... we're saying he's not bad. We're also not saying Orton is holding Tebow back, we're saying Tebow isn't ready.

Hell, if Quinn has finally figured it out and can look like he just did against first stringers then maybe he should take the job. I think the focus has been too much on Orton rather than the QB position overall. Orton takes too much blame for last year's losses and Tebow is getting too much of a benefit from being unknown.

Great points. And to follow up on Quinn, who I'm starting to like more and more, here's a great read: http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_18713879

Looks like Quinn DID put in the off-season work out.

Great half by the first team. Defense was hungry, Orton was Sharp, Moreno ran well.

Minus the INT in endzone. Quinn looked good. Next off season should be interesting if Elway believes Tebow has a future here they may use Quinn as trade bait. Don't know how much you could get back for him.

I will say I am impressed with the way John Fox has handled this situation.

From the latest Broncos blog (http://blog.denverbroncos.com/denver...actice-blog/):

After the horn blew to signal the end of individual drills, Tebow ran a short route to the front cone of the end zone and just missed a one-handed grab thrown by Quinn. As Fox was walking over to the sideline he shouted, “Come on Tebow,” and proceeded to give him a smile and fist bump.
Future TE Tim Tebow. I jest.

Quinn's pretty ripped too. I say put both of them in at TE with Orton behind center.

So seriously, did Merril Hodge get rejected by Tebow at a book signing or circumcision? Hodge really can't stand Tebow...he's saying the Broncos need to trade him for a 7th rounder or cut him.

                            I've NEVER liked Merril Hoge.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing Tebow traded. It's not because I think he's a bust, or whatever. But I'm tired of controversy surrounding the Broncos. I want stability and fan support, and Tebow's presence has done nothing but create a hostile environment.

I think Tebow is a great kid, and a hell of an athlete, but his presence here is just polarizing. It brings in these Tebow fans who don't care at all about the Broncos, and they root against our other players just to see their boy play. It's disgusting. None of this is his fault, but I wish he'd move on.

I think it's too early to make that call. There just isn't enough information to make that kind of decision yet. Everybody is wanting a definitive answer right now, and I don't think that's possible. This has to play-out further.

I'd hate to see them get rid of Tebow and watch him blossom into a franchise QB, knowing all along he was and should have been a Bronco.

Saw this on Josh Looman's twitter. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...st-qb-in-camp/

Speaking to various sources within the Broncos organization:

“If everything was totally equal, and this were a competition based only on performance at this camp, Tebow would probably be the fourth-string guy,” one source told Silver. “Kyle [Orton] is far and away the best, and Tebow’s way behind [Brady] Quinn, too. And I’m telling you, Adam Weber is flat-out better right now.”
I keep telling people, don't count out Adam Weber.
