I think that Suter and Parise are already signed, but they're keeping it quiet to annoy everyone.

Carey Price got paid, 6 years 39M. That is 6.5M per year.

Sabres trade Derek Roy to Dallas for Steve Ott and Adam Pardy. Don't understand it from Dallas' perspective. Which direction are they going? Pulling a Flame?

Strange that Pittsburgh and Chicago (and Philly, of course) are lining up to give Parise $100M. Scoring goals isn't exactly a problem for any of these teams. Although it's bad for me as a Canucks fan, as a hockey fan I'd like to see Parise sign with Minnesota.

In other news, the Habs signed Price to a 6/39 extension.

Yeah I'd rather the Hawks go for Suter if they're going to throw big money at a FA.

If Parise isn't coming to Chicago I'd prefer he go to Minnesota as well, but I would welcome him to Chicago.

The Blackhawks definitely need a top 6 forward although ideally it would be one that came cheaper than Parise's 8 mil price range but he would obviously fix the problem of always having one gaping hole on the top 6 we had last year (that Q tried to fill with Brunette way too often).

If Q and Kitchen change our defensive styling I think our defense is fine, we have talent there but for whatever reason they don't clear the front of the net at all, they let teams camp out there and Crawford seems to have a hard enough time stopping softies he can see all the way let alone when his vision is obstructed. But changing that would make Crawfords job a lot easier.

If the Kings really are only looking for a first round pick for Bernier then I wish the Hawks would hurry up and give that to them, but I have a feeling they have to be wanting more. I'd be all for getting Bernier and letting him compete with Craw for starts and if that were the case then Parise makes sense since you could argue top 6 help is our biggest need but as it stands I think goalie is since I don't think Crawford and Emery is the tandem that will be getting it done for us.

Not sure the Sabres would have traded Roy to the Leafs.

Anyway, color me cautiously optimistic on this deal. Roy's time in Buffalo was done. Not sure about getting Ott back. Seems like a bit of a dirty guy, and I don't want my team to play like that. With the addition of Scott yesterday, it seems like we're going bigger and tougher.

I'm sure another move is coming down the pike. We need offense.

Probably never wanted him. He's undersized, and he's not American.

                      Maybe it's the Jets?

                      Apparently they made an offer
                      , but Parise isn't interested.

The Winnipeg Jets were in the Zach Parise sweepstakes, if only momentarily.

Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff didn’t make the trip to Toronto to make his sales pitch, but did place a call to Newport Sports to declare their interest.

That wasn’t enough to secure Parise’s services as the Jets aren’t among the teams on the short list.

“Obviously, that’s kind of where it went,” said Cheveldayoff. “We expressed our interest early, but the process started in earnest pretty early after that.”

Parise is expected to make his decision known on Monday and the Pittsburgh Penguins remain a favourite to sign him.

Cheveldayoff confirmed the Jets didn’t make an offer to coveted defenceman Ryan Suter, who is also expected to announce his decision on Monday.

Because it wouldn't be a complete offseason without Holmgren offering someone a ridiculously long and expensive contract.
