Maybe Northwest won't be as crappy next year with Vancouver still being Vancouver, Minny getting top 2 free agents, and Edmonton/Colorado has young core that will improve. While Calgary will finish 9~11 again and won't rebuild.

Just like the Wolves getting Rubio last year at this time, you just know this means no chance the NHL season starts on time. #MNWild

I do know the Blackhawks didn't want to pay too much front loaded money for Parise because they think a lockout might last for a while.

It would really suck if this happens again.

That said I guess it hinges more on who is coming off the books over those next 2 years, if you're not losing anything important then they're alright where they are with 2 big contracts off the books over the next couple years.

I'm just glad they didn't team up in Pittsburgh or Detroit.

They must have really wanted to play together because they both could have definitely got more elsewhere but I don't think anyone else could pay them as much to play together (Detroit but they'd have to make room).

Nice to see them go to a team where they can start something special as opposed to just joining an already stacked team (although like I said you wouldn't have heard me complainging at all had one of them opted for the Blackhawks).

With Lidstrom's retirement, and Detroit not landing either of the big two, the Red Wings situation for this upcoming season intrigues me.

I wasn't expecting either of them, so this is pretty spectacular.

I'm hoping they'll panic and overspend on whats left in FA but I doubt it.

I think they'll get Semin for sure and I think he'll be a really good fit there but their D is definitely going to be hurting this year from the looks of it.

They should be mediocre, then again it's Detroit so they'll probably make the playoffs.
