    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Well, the weather got up into the mid-80's today in Connecticut, so I had no excuse NOT to play golf. After going to the range for the first time this year, I ended up playing my first nine of the year, because I was impressed with how well I was hitting balls on the range. I shot a 47 at a course I've only played once before, a score that is good, but not great, for me. I was great with my wedges, and I hit some drives over 300 yards (with the little help from the wind). But, my biggest miss is a block out to the right, and I tend to do it the most with long irons and the driver. My putting was atrocious, and my aiming points were a little off. I hit a couple perfect wedge shots, hole high, but like 10 or 15 yards right. More work, and more rounds, will fix that, hopefully. All in all, it was a pretty good day. I averaged about 280 off the tee, which is a step up from where I was last year.

      Great decision.

Damnit, accidentally went low today in my first round at my home course. Have five rounds in elsewhere and shot an even 36 this afternoon. All downhill from here.

I am really looking hard at the m1, I'm glad to hear you like it. I've also heard good things about the Nike Vapor Fly. Right now I am using the Nike Sasquatch 460 and I'm hitting it straight but I would really like more distance.

I'm working out of town and I just found a golf course where I can do 18 with a cart(after 5) and 12 chicken wings for $25. Gotta love it, especially since I'm not paying for it.

I played the Vapor Fly a little bit last year. It wasn't too bad, but didn't seem to have much extra speed behind it. If you're looking distance, M1, M2, or even the Epic are definitely the ways to look. I'd recommend getting fit for the driver and get the shaft that fits you best. That's how you get extra distance.

I'm going to go buy a new Driver and fairway driver this weekend, I'm looking primarily at a bunch of 2016 clubs so we'll see what feels best.

I'm pretty excited about golf this season, I really have improved a great deal in just a month. I have taken slow motion videos of myself and my mistakes were pretty glaring. After a few hours and the driving range the difference is night and day. I still sometimes repeat my old habits but my shots are longer and straighter.

              Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Ready for the real golf season to start. My beloved MP33's finally took the backseat, and to a proper set at that...

              The MP-5's!

These things are gorgeous and are very close to feeling like the MP33's, with just a bit more of an offset - but man, it feels great when properly struck!

My bag is just about complete. I'm toying with the idea of replacing my Ben Hogan FTI Hybrid as you can see it's starting to wear down (5+ years in my bag).

If you're not playing the M1(2017), you are cheating yourself. I can't get over the distance and forgiveness of my M1 driver and 3 wood. It's ridiculous.

I'm getting my irons rewrapped with the new blue Super Stroke's. Just need to pick a weekend and leave my clubs with the pro shop at my country club.

Nothing I've hit yet feels better than my SLDR that I tuned. I'll have to go hit the M1.

I went to the local big box golf store and hit the M1 and it was not for me. Im sure with enough time I could have learned to like it. I hit the Ping G30 SF Tec and fell in love with it from the get go. I went to the range today with it and the G30 fairway wood and Couldn't believe how much farther and straighter my shots were.

I replaced my Irons, drivers, and even got a new bag. I am ready for this season!

Good choice, Ive hit everything and the Ping G is my favorite driver I've ever hit.

First under par round of the year yesterday. 38-32--70. Got a new putter this week and it took me about 7-8 holes to really get the feel of it on an actual course. Everything else was in midseason form.

My guess would be it had the wrong shaft on it. Not trying to push you towards the M1. But to me, shafts are the end all be all of drivers. With the right shaft, I truly believe I could hit any driver on the market virtually identical.

I really like the Ping driver. I played two rounds with a demo. It's long off the tee, and has a great sound. The Ping sounds better than the M1 and M2 2016 models, the 2017 model sounds closer to my R15 which I love. Clubs are so personal.

If you like the way it looks when your over the ball, that is half the battle.

I'm really interested in the new Calloway Jailbreak tech.

Played last week (And BTW I LOVE the G25 Driver! Love the sound and the accuracy on miss hits are better than anything I've had yet.. Maybe next year I'll look at the G30)
.. and my cuz showed up with the Epic driver.

He bought the stored demo for 25% off ..

Anywho.. I consistently out drove him. NOT saying the driver is bad as neither of us have a perfect swing.. Just thought it was funny.
I know he was a tad miffed as he said "Yeah they said I'd lose some distance but gain accuracy" ....

I am going to take a few swings with it the next time we play and get a better feel for it.
On a side note he got a part time job at our main course so now when we play together it will only cost me 12.00

Work until 7am and then 12:00 tee time tomorrow..
