I literally just got back from the range 5 minutes ago. Swing is really coming together nicely. Accuracy is MUCH improved now, straight and I'm able to play a fade on command now. Draw not so much with the irons, but I'm able to produce a draw with my wedges at ease, weird lol.

Driver was 100% perfect today for me. Straight and long. Cannot wait to pick up the new Nike Covert Driver tomorrow. I'll definitely post more swings as I get the chance.
That is great to hear, brother. I wish I had half a good swing - I just know how to analyze them. I'm very much a feel player, which has resulted in an ugly looking swing - and inconsistent play. I can putt very well though due to a certain unorthodox method - but it works.

Looking forward to seeing the swing man - let's see the big dog eating a bit

      Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Thought I might get some sympathy in here. I play competitive golf every year at my club and local tournaments in state. I'm not a scratch golfer just a low-mid level cap.

I love playing competitively, I live for it and work all winter on my game.

In November I started having some pain in my shoulder. It was originally diagnosed as a rotator cuff. MRI's didn't reveal any damage so they thought it was a shoulder labrum tear.

MRI with shoulder injection (hurt like hell) and no tear. Must be an impingement. So I star physical therapy for a few weeks and I am not feeling better.

To his credit my PT says I think you were mis-diagnosed you should see someone about your back / neck. Now were in December and I am heading to Hawaii with my family and I'm in a lot of pain.

I see a chiropractor friend to see if he can do anything as I am leaving in 3 days. He works me over for 3 days and I feel better. I enjoy my trip with no pain or numbness in my right arm / shoulder.

I get back and a week later the pain I was having in my right shoulder is no in my left shoulder. Exact same pain / symptoms except it's 10 times worse.

I start seeing my friend a few times a week and the pain subsides but the numbness in my arm / hand (now left side) is still there. So it's time for my 3rd MRI in less than 4 months.

Turns out i have 2 bulging discs in my neck which we are trying to now treat but it's not going well so now we're discussing surgery.

We're literally a month away from golf season starting here, well I've been working all winter despite the issues but now i have to make a tough decision as surgery will make me miss the whole year.

I can deal with the pain its the constant numbness and the loss of grip strength which is bothersome. My wife doesn't even understand why this is a choice at all, she doesn't get it. Missing a whole season of golf would just make me miserable.

Phew sorry had to get that out.

        Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Sorry to hear about the possible surgery, I would HATE to miss a full year of golf. Hope all goes well if you go that route!

On another note, I spent the rest of my vacation money on a new driver. I'm becoming such a club ho it isn't even funny. Picked up the new Nike Covert Tour driver. Love this thing, more pics are in the spoiler tags.

        Spoiler

So this is now my update to date bag. Will pick up a 3 wood down the road.

I want a set of Cobra amp cells SO BAD. Went to the Seattle Golf Show and hit them for easily 20 minutes.

Sorry to hear about this but try to hang in there. I honestly think if it was me I probably would go ahead with the surgery. If you've tried every/most treatment with no success them I would say its a no-brainer. Nothing is more important than your HEALTH!!! As you already know back pain is no joke

I tried out the new Cobra driver the day I bought my Covert. For me I lost distance. I was only hitting it 230 on good hits. I was hitting the Nike 250 yards on a good hit and around 270 when I put a draw on the ball.

Maybe it was the shaft but I was looking forward to the new Cobra but ended up walking away disappointed.

Hey Skyboxer you might want to look on Ebay, some of the prices on there are just insane especially if it's not the current years model. Good Luck

Nice - did I already say I'd take your old one I've got a lil one on the way - so all I have $$ for is golf rounds - I'll mooch off whatever I can.

With that said - what kind of driver are you looking at? Brand? Have you given into the Callaway commercials about Phil's new driver that he hit so well at the Farmer's Insurance Open?

I prefer Taylor Made for my woods but will be looking at all brands.
I currently have the Callaway X20 irons. I'm probably going to get a new iron set next year.

I've had probably 4 drivers in the last 3 years lol BUT none were new. Bought used and my last one was a TM Burner Tour driver. It is an 8.5 loft and I simply couldn't control it so most of last year so I hit 3W off the tee.

Have no idea why I bought it other than it was a impulse buy at yard sale.

The Driver feels nice. Still gotta play around with it more. Will be at the range after work to put a little more time into it.
