I'm waiting for the rest of the new drivers to come out. I may get the new Nike covert driver. We'll see how they perform.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Im like most people, never knew this thread existed. I played in HS, my 5 man team took all conference both my junior and senior years. We missed state by 1 stroke senior year, big bummer. That was back in '03 anyway.
I have a hard time getting out as much now, baby on the way in april, gonna definitely cut into the weekend rounds.
When i can get out, and its not often, im usually around 39-40 on my little 9 hole course in town.
Im in the stone age i guess, i won an r5 driver back when they were $300-$400 on the shelves, and I can still drill it out there 290 or so. If i golfed more, then maybe i would upgrade, but dont see the need for it.
Anyway, looks like a thread i may get into, i love golfNFL- Green Bay Packers
MLB- Chicago Cubs
NBA- Milwaukee Bucks
NCAA- Wisconsin Badgers

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Welcome, Kunner! And congrats on the baby due in April! Our first is due in July - so I'm just waiting for this winter weather to go away while I still have my weekends!
So - I wanted to post this video, it's Tiger Woods hosting a clinic in Korea. Thought it really showed just how good he is - and how great of a teacher he can be. I learned a lot from his ideas. There are a lot more videos than this one, but I just wanted to post it real quick. It could help out some of us weekend warriors down the road

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Just thought I'd post my bag for the 2013 year. Like I mentioned a few posts back, thinking of upgrading my driver in the next week or so. I have to change out the shafts in my woods though, my swing speed is far too fast for regular shafts now. The ball just flies too high into the air.
My current handicap is a 10, but that has most likely gone up since I haven't played a round of golf since October. Been going to the range 2-3 times a week though.
Driver: Callaway Diablo Edge 10 degrees, regular flex
5 Wood: Nike VR Pro St8-Fit, 19 degrees, regular flex
4 Hybrid: Taylormade 2009 resuce, 21 degrees, regular flex
Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo 4-PW, S300 shafts
Wedges: Callaway X Series Jaws - 56 and 60 degree
Putter: Odyssey White Ice #9
Ball: Nike ONE RZN-X or Callaway Diablo TourXbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

Snagged a Cobra ZL Encore Black Driver off Ebay "Brand New" this morning for $159.99 plus $11.95 shipping. This Driver is still $399 at Golf Galaxy so I couldn't resist at that price. Also picked up a TaylorMade White Smoke IN-12 Putter from Dicks.
Buddy and I are gonna make a trip down south this Saturday to Knoxville to get a round in as its too cold here in Cincy, Oh.Last edited by Flightwhite24; 02-04-2013, 10:12 PM.The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Thanks for the compliments guys! I would love to see what you guys are playing!
I've been thinking of getting the 3 wood Nike Covert as well. As of right now, I only have 13 clubs in my bag. I was going to pick up a 52 degree wedge but I don't think I would use it often. The Nike Covert 3 Wood can be adjusted from 13-17 degrees of loft, which would fit nicely in my set. We'll see what happens on Friday.
Anyway, here's a swing I captured today. Going through some changes so it isn't my final swing. Working my takeaway and back swing mostly. I tend to have my club swing out too wide and stop at a weird angle at the top which has been leading to some terrible accuracy. Been trying to straighten that out a bit before I hit the course on Friday. Anyway here's the video:

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Kinda dreading getting back out there after my last outing in 2012, but still will be getting back into it. Currently in the market for a new driver and bag to replace the ones that got busted up in my car accident.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Well the round we played on Friday was a scramble, which I didn't know it would be. I don't normally play well in scrambles because I lose focus easily.
I played awful on the front 9.. couldn't find the fairway with the new driver, approaches were way off, but I did hit a couple of putts.
I turned it around on the back 9 and found my swing a bit. We ended up shooting the most bland -8 as a team. We didn't hit any long putts or chip anything in, while groups around us had holes in one/eagles/chip ins/etc.
Anyway, it felt good to get back out there. I have some work to do on my swing as I had a pretty significant slice off the tee and was inconsistent with my irons.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Sorry to hear about the accident - hopefully you get some good clubs. I personally use gigagolf for a quick, quality, set for under $300 total.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Gotta hit those early flight lines, man - but that is a very nice swing. You've got great tempo as well. Do you feel the takeaway is more handsy ( 2 piece) thank more together (1 piece)? I've been working on just keeping everything together, and in front of me - have a tendency to get stuck. My right arm is glued to my side a lot more on the downswing than it used to.

I literally just got back from the range 5 minutes ago. Swing is really coming together nicely. Accuracy is MUCH improved now, straight and I'm able to play a fade on command now. Draw not so much with the irons, but I'm able to produce a draw with my wedges at ease, weird lol.
Driver was 100% perfect today for me. Straight and long. Cannot wait to pick up the new Nike Covert Driver tomorrow. I'll definitely post more swings as I get the chance.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo
