what about Rory? Trees seem the best i have seen with the ball bouncing of every branch. Not a EA or 2K fan but a golf game fan. But i don't see any comparison here. 2K needs to dump this engine and get with the 2022 times.

Might be seeing if it is going to be worth switching engines now. This game with the current engine might have been in development before they knew they would have competition at this time. I don't know what it would entail getting another engine for the game. Ported courses from previous edition would be a problem I guess and who knows if they could bring the course creator along.
I don't think the game looks bad really not knock your socks off graphics but some niggling problems aside it plays fairly well. This looks to be easily the best release in the series.

Rory had rough on some of the greens.

definitely the best game they've made but when you have hard greens and fairways on every course, ball rolls forever. Think just the trees have collision with the ball. In six months this is going to look extremely old compared to EA's game. They will be forced to get new tech.

Respawn released a video that shows differences between 2K21 and 2K23: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-F3rLTmLIY

The swing in 2K21 is really quite horrible, seeing it against 2K23...haha

I am glad they eliminated splash shots from everywhere but the bunkers but there is something else that they need to do. Pitch shots with anything stronger than a pitching wedge should be eliminated. No one hits a pitch shot 110 yards with a 8 or 9 iron. It is kind of cheesy. You should have to hit a partial full with a lob wedge and even that wouldn't be perfect. It would bring in more course management. This way you wouldn't be bombing shots trying to get as close to the green as possible. Pros try to leave themselves a full shot where possible not sure why this game wouldn't do it.
What input did Tiger actually have? Just asking.

That's what she said. This guy puts out some of the best content for the game.

This is by far the most informative gameplay video yet. Very well done.

2k23 is definitely improved in every way, except for the baffling thing of the power meter ramping up well before the club actually starts moving. They MUST fix that. It makes no sense and will force everyone to completely re-learn how to swing. The meter should be timed exactly with the first draw back of the club, especially on putts. Other videos have shown this problem...it makes the putting stroke, as he says here, look and feel more punchy and stabby.

Should be an easy fix for 2k...and they sure as hell need to fix it. Other than that, everything else looks to be improved.

Here's an interview the devs did with the PGA 2K reddit page:

                    https://www.reddit.com/r/PGA_Tour_2K...m_source=share

                    Some nuggets:

                    - Private Match and Society restrictions that will allow you to choose between Swing Stick, 3-Click, or Open (both input types)

                    - Online multiplayer playlists at launch will be a mix of 9-hole and 3-hole varieties, and Divot Derby will also be returning

                    - ‘Pro’ is still the preset difficulty in Matchmaking

                    - Multiplayer Tie Breakers differ from a play-off in MyCAREER (also new to PGA TOUR 2K23) which follow regular Sudden Death or Aggregate formats depending on the event...To keep things snappy, the multiplayer format is a modified version of Sudden Death: All players eligible to break the tie play one final hole. If there’s still a deadlock, the win goes to the player (or team) who was closest to the pin off the tee

                    - Consumable golf balls have 4 attributes; Spin, Flight, Bounce, and Roll. Spin affects RPMs and wind effects. Flight affects how much the wind impacts the ball trajectory. Bounce affects how the ball interacts with individual surfaces at impact. Roll affects how the ball travels along individual surfaces

                    - Ball flights have been overhauled to provide the most accurate depiction of shot trajectories to date.

                    - Surface firmness has been refined to provide more/less bounce at the extremes. i.e.: Very Soft surfaces will absorb impact more / Very Firm surfaces will transfer more energy.

                    - The range min/max range of surface speeds have been expanded. i.e.: Very Slow greens will roll less / Very Fast greens will roll more.

                    - Soft/Very Soft bunkers will plug more frequently (impact speed and angle dependent)

                    - Soft/Very Soft Heavy Rough will snag the ball more - less roll, less bounce.

                    - Lie Penalties have been rebalanced, with added variance to the depth : penalty ratios for all surfaces.

                    - Shot shaping has been improved to allow for more/less spin.

                    - In 2k23, hitting a shot in the grey should be considered a “good” shot, hitting it in close to the white a “great” shot, and when you nail that “perfect” shot it should be an exception (on the Pro and harder difficulties) not the expectation

                    - Since the title is cross-gen—including sharing courses and multiplayer—both generations are functionally the same in terms of gameplay, number of objects on the courses, and the all-new suites of animations added for gameplay, addresses, fairway scenes, post-shot reactions, caddies, post-hole and post-round scenes, and trophy ceremonies.

                    - One of the key components to the Course Designer’s interface overhaul is a new Cursor Selection list, that gives easier access to the objects on the course without having to wiggle the cursor around to find a sweet spot.

I really like 2K21, and I will likely get this eventually, but the fact that there's a $120 version feels beyond insane for what this game is.

Here's an interview with Creative Director at HB Studios, Josh Muise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99klnc5bTnU

Lots of "fluff", and not a ton of new info. But some interesting things about Tiger's involvement.

The deal 2K signed with TW is for 10 years!

Respawn takes a look at the new physics (and the new driving range) in PGA 2K23: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwB8qsIUesM

The irons sure seem to stop dead on the greens...even 3- and 4-irons have almost no roll out in 2K23 with full spin applied.

Given how much the guys have spoken about the rollout I was surprised to see long/mid irons sticks like that. If you apply max spin and loft the club up you do reduce the size of the timing and swing plane windows though right?

I believe so. But yeah, the fact that a 3-iron rolls out just a couple feet seems a little bit odd, when chips run out for days. I do like how much more wedges spin...that seems more realistic to me.

But being able to stick long-iron shots into greens is going to cut down on strategic play. It will take the bite out of long par-4s, and make short-ish par-5s guaranteed eagles.

I'm a convert to no grids. Once I got a feel for how to read them I had no desire to see lines again. I'm not a great player by any definition, but I have my moments and I enjoy the challenge. It's fun times.
