Any smoke about a 2K25 and what it might look like yet?

More than like still on a 10 year old outdated unity engine with the same gameplay.

There is no doubt the game could look better but it does not detract from the gameplay at least for me. While you might disagree on what swing inputs produce what shots it is the best to date. You use a swing stick I imagine so maybe you could tell me how it could be made different. You could allow the player to move feet closed or open stance and open or close the club face but there is really nothing else you can do.
You play a racing game you got the gas and a brake. Would you consider that the same tired gameplay or say hey what else can you do?

I know you were directing this to jbd345, but I have a long standing suggestion for what I think 2K could do better with the analog/stick swing in their game. Instead of having the tempo determine "hook/slice", it would model the real swing better if the tempo determined "push/pull". In know in real life when I pull a shot, it's far more due to my tempo being too quick and my hips being out of position at impact.

If I want to play a slice, I'll set up my stance so as to produce an outside/in swing path. The swing path seems to be a far greater determinant of slice/hook in my experience than my swing tempo.

I asked HB Studios about their choice to go with the current model way back and they said they did it the way they did - even though it's counterintuitive - because the stick tempo is harder to nullify with modified sticks than swing path, where modified sticks can be tuned to totally negate the swing path. They wanted hook/slice to be the more determining factor in the shot result, so they went with the stick motion property that was the hardest to negate, and that was stick motion tempo.

So we have the less intuitive swing mechanic because they're trying to target stick modifying cheaters... (sigh). I wish they would at least give the user the option to switch between tempo and swing path, and their effect on push/pull, hook/slice, at least for offline or career mode play. Heck, you could even create societies where the effects could be reversed.

I just know the game would feel more realistic to me if I could swap those two properties.

No indications yet. Their recent release timeline would indicate a new game would be out later this year, likely in October, but no official word will probably be made until late summer if that pattern holds true.

Unless they are going to update the graphics significantly, I don't see the point of a new release this year. Or maybe if they overhaul the control mechanics and gameplay (which they won't). Otherwise it's going to be the same game, minus the large catalog of created courses from 23, which seems like 95% of what the diehards care about.

It is definitely time for an all new engine

I'd give it about a 25% chance (hope I'm really wrong)

I’ve always found it hard to believe that the unity engine is the only engine that’ll allow for user created courses. IMHO it’s time to move on from it.

Switching to a new engine isn't easy or cheap.

Didn’t 2k21 supposedly fetch almost $1 million in sales? They have the money.

I believe 2K21 sold around 3 million copies...which would total to a lot more than $1 million in sales.

Add in the fact 2K now owns HB, and it seems like there should be no reason why their PGA game can't get whatever upgrades it can.

I hope that 2K25 or whatever the next one ends up being takes a fairly significant step forward in lots of ways, including graphics.

Well, in the context of the EA game being "a thing" (regardless of what one thinks of the gameplay), I think 2k would have a really hard time selling yet another version on the same graphics engine.

This is why, even though I don't care for it, I'm happy the EA game exists.

Not only I believe it's still going to be on the same engine, they'll go get all those guys still playing in the old generation consoles with cross-play again. That's 2 things EA doesn't have. And what they also really need to get away with, it's the old stale rivals thing in career mode.

The online needs to be more versatile. I get that everyone likes to vie for position, so then fine. Allow the host to set tougher, more realistic conditions if wanted.

Sure as heck won't be getting my money by recycling an old engine, yet again (how many times now?), for a game in 2025 and beyond.
