My last iRacing win was at Michigan way back in 2011 (Which sounds worse than it is given my long break). If only Michigan was a week later this year, I might have been able to pull out a win on the Cup Car/Michigan combo exactly 4 years after my last one.

I got to sub-40 laps at Michigan so I feel a bit better. Just hard to get the when and how of letting off/getting on the gas since you don't need brakes. Feels much easier than Pocono to get better lap times.

I think I'm going to attempt one more K&N race at Iowa, but will be starting from the pits in a 20-car field. I just want to get my SR up some more and this just feels like it could be dangerous packed this full.

Alright, I watched it and based on what I can see from watching a few laps earlier in the race and also that last lap, I'd be pretty annoyed with you if I was in his shoes.

We would have hit much harder if I was on your outside, as I would have come down expecting you to be further down the track. And while I can't see how much space there is outside, you might have spun yourself on my nose as I wouldn't have backed out like he did.

I didn't watch enough to figure out exactly where your normal line is, but compare pictures one (which is random lap earlier in the race) and two (which is the last lap) below. In picture one you're down on the yellow line. In picture two, which was taken earlier on the track than picture one, you're a whole lane higher. Picture two is about where I'd expect his car to be on the outside. Pictures three and four are pretty much the exact same idea. You're much lower on the track in picture three than picture four.

Just my $.02 on the subject. Others might have a different opinion. All that said, don't worry about. Yeah, he might be upset, but unless he has real issues, he'll get over it. Things happen and nobody is perfect. I mean heck, just go look at how I screwed up a sure top 5 last night.

Here is a replay of a hot lap of 1:11.5 with the fixed setup with the Gen 6 at Watkins Glen for those that are racing the A car in the Class A or NiS series this week. It is my best lap so far and I'm not sure how much more time I can get out of it. My optimal is a few tenths lower, but it's hard to string together all "perfect" corners in one lap.

I hear there are some running in the 1:10s, so it's definitely not anywhere close to pole pace, however.

I am going to have to agree with you there. Looks like Canes overcooked the corner entry and missed the apex. It happens. While the #4 had room to his outside, it is usually expected that the lower car will lap around the white line, so I think it's clear-cut. At least neither of you guys wrecked, though, so not a lot of harm done and, besides, things happen.

I see the K&N cars are at Gateway this week. Looks interesting. Gateway was fun in the Late Models a couple months ago.

Many thanks for the replay. I only ran a few laps at WG for fun on Saturday, but even with that, I can tell I'm losing a ton of time to you (I was doing 1:13s) down the front straight and all the way up the esses and into the bus stop. Always a big help to see where others are faster. Definitely going to need to do some more practice, but probably not until later tonight.

                  Re: iRacing after 2+ years

Can't remember if I mentioned this here, but I purchased some Fanatec CSR Elite pedals about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately when I got them there was some kind of issue with the brake pedal, so I had to send them back before I was even able to race with them.

Today I finally got a tracking number with my exchange pedals tonight and Fanatec managed to send them to my billing address (which is my parents house at the moment) rather than the original shipping address (my house). Not a huge deal, but it's just adding to my frustration with them at the moment.

I did email them to see if they can divert the shipment so I'll see what happens.

                    Re: iRacing after 2+ years

Yea, the first 30 or so laps I felt really out of rhythm and was trying different lines. Probably not the greatest idea in a race. I felt like the last 10 I found the line and was working it smoothly. Though that last turn I definitely overshot it due to aggression. I was trying for the line but obviously I did a terrible job of getting to it.

I did feel bad after watching it. I was overran that turn. I can learn though and hopefully that's the worst mistake I make.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, I know the DWC guys put in a ton of time, but that's just insane to me. Even if you had 8 guys all testing setups, that's still 10 hours a person on setup work alone each week. Just insane.

That's why I've been running fixed. I'm decent enough at taking a road setup and adjusting it to my tastes, but I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to ovals other than a few adjustments here and there.
I'm trying to learn how to adjust my car as we speak. So far my times get worse so I am very impressed with my lack of knowledge lol.

Man this tunnel turn is just kicking my rear end. I was seeing guys take it at 155 and I can't go any faster than 145 or I hit the wall coming out of the turn.

I'm able to take a few things and make the car looser for me and that's it. I'd love to run open, but I'm just fine doing fixed and not worrying about setups.

It's funny as I practiced a few laps at Watkins then went back to Pocono and noticed I drove the car better. My best Watkins was 1:22 so if anyone feels bad about their driving just go around that track in 2nd gear and you should get a better time than me.

Whew, can't believe how rusty I am for not having raced since the winter.

Just finished running some laps at the Glen and improved to a 1:12.181 and my laps were fairly consistent. Well, at least relative to what I was doing over the weekend. Not comfortable at all in the last two corners, but I'm not sure how much time I'm really losing there.

Here's a video of my fast lap.

Ugh not a very good night for me. In the lead in the truck fixed at Indy and lose the rear coming out of 3, smack the wall and lost all steering. 2nd race in 3rd and lost it coming out of 4. I called it a night after those 2 incidents. #depressed. Lol.
