    Re: Official Wii Discussion

Don't bother getting the Classic Controller - get the wireless Wavebird instead! That works fine with the VC games. And the Wii-Mote is perfectly OK for NES games.

I recommend WarioWare, as well - those crazy bastards who made that game have some wild ideas. The game is hillarious, start to finish. Tons of mini-games, as well.

You might as well get Wii Play, since it's only an additional $10, beyond the cost of an extra controller.

I personally think that TW08 is a great game, depite it's muddy graphics. I also have Madden 08, but I haven't had the chance to play it very much. Seems like a solid game, though.
Been gaming since the Atari 2600, and hells no I won't stop!!!

        Re: Official Wii Discussion

Well my Wii might be dying again. Two months or so back I had the sparkle artifacts on backgrounds and fade ins/outs and got a replacement system. I pop in 'Twilight Princess' yesterday and see the same thing AGAIN! Now I don't see it on the VC games or menu like I used to, but I'm concerned.

I ordered the official Nintendo component cables to see if that'll fix the problem, and since I got the replacement I have the system vertical as opposed to horizontal to increase the air flow, thinking maybe that was a reason my system failed.

        Pretty frustrating...

          Re: Official Wii Discussion

Well the graphics card on my Wii is on the fritz again...checked both component outputs, different games, and the little artifacts in the background are still there. I don't notice it on the VC games, but when I go to the "Home" screen on the remote IN the VC games it just looks awful. I have the Wii vertical, with a couple inches on top, two fee in the back, and a good foot plus on either side...in other words, plenty of ventilation.

I "guess" I just have bad luck with this thing, as most leave WiiConnect24 on and haven't had any issues, and even if the features aren't that hot I do like the news feed when I turn my Wii on and want it updated.

What really sucks is I now have to buy an SD card as I have a few saves that I've put time in ('Paper Mario' and 'Carnival Games' come to mind) and last time my saved data and Miis weren't able to be transferred and I had to spend a good hour re-downloading all my VC games.

I'm pretty pissed, as it seems my 360, with only one repair in 21 months is "old reliable".

Seriously, these next gen consoles are made like ****! I can still get games to play fine on my old NES and SNES and I still have a launch PS2 that works perfectly.

That sucks man. Maybe you are just unlucky or maybe your neighborhood has power surges you aren't aware of. Do you have your system hooked up to a power arrester?

The heat the Wii generates with WiiConnect24 bothers me so I leave it off since it really doesn't do anything for you in the first place to leave it on. Maybe when the Wii has more online options I'll start leaving it on, but maybe that's the problem.

That sucks you gotta dish out $25 or so for a SD card. I guess you can always return one to Wal-mart and get your money back when you are done.

You can store some Miis to the wiimotes, I think one per wiimote if that helps.

              Re: Official Wii Discussion

What's funny is that when I first bought my console I had it crammed between my 360 and receiver with no problems. It wasn't until I moved it to it's breezy location that issues cropped up. I also have no plans to turn off the WiiConnect24 despite the heat. It should work as intended, IMO.

I just got off the phone and they are sending it to Nintendo of America in Washington this time as opposed to their authorized repair center. The guy was shocked that my "remanufactured" system still had a name on it (my console was nicknamed "Sexy" when it came back to me). I pressed hard and I should get a brand new one back...it'll just take an extra couple days, so three weeks as opposed to two.

              Here's hoping it's a permanent fix!

                The systems have nicknames?! LOL

I have left WiiConnect on since Xmas, no issues. Knock on wood. Sorry about your luck.

Yeah, my WiiConnect has been on since I bought it...not as long as EG, but for a while. In fact it's blue right now and i've gotta see what's up when I get home.

I'm tempted to sell mine. I never play it, and there's nothing that I want to play.

It's the Wii-mote jacket offer listed on the "Tuesday Morning Other Stuff" section.

The website is glitchy now and keeps saying that my request for jackets has exceeded my console serial number. The guy on the phone said they are just getting swamped.

Gotcha...I'll do that later tonight then...can you ask for remotes you have aside for the system too? IE. ask for 3 using just 1 system serial number?

I tried putting in 4, 3, 2 and 1 tonight and it wouldn't let me do any. Not sure what's going on with that.
