I'm typing from my Wii broswer so i'll make it brief. Go to the Playstation website click on PS3 then click on "system update". The have instructions and pictures on the screen that shows you how to do an update with a USB Flash drive.

thanks rodster I may give the next update a try,i get my downloaded in about 15 minutes,but what scares me is the loss of connection where folks say it may brick your ps3..and with the update on the flash drive this is more reliable? than the internet as far as connection loss?

Yes. Since you already downloaded it, an internet connection loss wouldn't do anything. Just don't turn it off during install. LOL

Actually if you loss your internet connection that wouldn't brick your system. The only time your system will get bricked if you lose power while doing the update.

Remember there are two steps in updating the PS3 firmware:

1) Download update
2) Apply/Install update (This is where your system will get bricked if you lose power)

The only advantage to doing an update from a USB drive is that it will go a lot faster if you have a slow internet connection with your PS3.

If i'm not mistaken GT 1.0 and 1.1 had worldwide rankings, because I remember I was in the top 50 with one or two of the cars.

I think that was just national (or continent) rankings... you were in the top 50 of the US whereas you might be #102 in the world or something.

I don't suppose anyone from North America can tell me if you have any demos for sports titles?

I was hoping to play some MLB 2K7, but us Europeans don't seem to have any sports titles to choose from.

The US store has the MLB 2k7 demo and the NBA 07 demo. The Japanese store has the Hot Shots golf demo. I think that's about it for sports titles, unless you want to count the F1 game.

I read somewhere that it was possible for us Europeans to trick the Xbox 360 into thinking that you're from North America, and thus download some North American demos.

Is it possible to do the same on the PS3?

I've tried looking myself but when I try to change my residential address the nationality option is greyed out.

Yeah, you have to setup a new account on your system, and setup a new PSN account as them. Then you can enter an address from the country of choice. Oh, you may have to make the new account a master account in order to download demos to the system, but I'm not sure, I know I made mine a master account though.
