Is anyone having trouble logging into PSN? I was able to get on this early evening and now I can't login via a wired or wireless connection. My problem is PSN is timing out but I can establish an internet connection....wierd.

PS3 firmware update on Friday !
Sony has confirmed to Eurogamer this morning that firmware version 1.6 will be available for PlayStation 3 when the console launches across Europe on Friday.
However, the hardware won't ship with the update, so you'll have to download it from the PlayStation Network when you get home. If you're lucky enough to survive roaming gangs of PS3-hungry thugs, that is.
The new version includes lots of meaty new features, like increased backwards compatibility, background downloading, full-size keyboard support and web browser tweaks.
You'll also now be able to use your PSP remotely with the PS3, globally connecting using Wi-Fi hotspots, rather than having to be directly connected to the console.
Also bundled is the Folding@home application, which aims to clue you in on protein folding, misfolding, and related diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, cystic fibrosis and various cancers.Comment

Can I ask why you would connect with your PS3 from hotspots around the world with your PSP? So, you are going to go 500 miles away to a Starbucks, while leaving your PS3 on, just access it? LOLComment

Re: Playstation Network and discussion
Yeah it sounds kinda of dumb to me as well unless you're allowed to put the PS3 in and out of sleep mode. Now that would be cool and the feature was designed to allow the PS3 to become the main HUB where you can buy and download music/videos/movies to your PS3 and transfer them to your PSP anywhere in the world via wi-fi.
At least that's how I understand it but I could be wrong.Comment

I can see it now, someone will burn out their PS3 trying this out. Even putting it in and out of sleep mode, I can see someone forgetting to do it or what not.Yeah it sounds kinda of dumb to me as well unless you're allowed to put the PS3 in and out of sleep mode. Totally useless feature.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and discussion
from the ign article.....
"Those who use their PSP as a remote media viewer for the PS3 have something to look forward with version 1.6. Previously, the PSP had to connect directly to the PS3 in order to access media, meaning you had to be in the same area as the PS3, and only owners of the 60 Gig model could take advantage of the feature. Version 1.6 adds the ability to access the PS3 from a wireless point in your home, bringing 20 Gig users in on the action, and presumably allowing additional freedom of movement. Not quite the worldwide access we were hoping for, but this is at least a step in the right direction. "
SO we can now access this any where in our home if we have a hot spot in our home??? It was suppose to let us access this anywhere over the world, not just in our own house!
Very dissapointing, it's just one after another!
And where is the feature of us being able to access our friends list/send/receive messages while IN GAME. This is by far the most disturbing of all.Last edited by Mintsa; 03-19-2007, 09:17 AM.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and discussion
That is Sony's plan so they can sell a few more systems like the PS2.

Re: Playstation Network and discussion
Sony is making a big mistake if the capability of being able to access friends lists and messaging like the 360 is not in firmware 1.6. What in the world are they thinking. These are things that people have been asking for.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
