Halo Waypoint First Look
What's more, you'll be able to group and filter them according to date, type and other attributes. But there's another layer to the Achievement tracking in Waypoint. The application has a meta-system of Awards and Milestones built in. These are categories of Halo-related accomplishments that you can unlock over time. Say, for example, you're really into the vehicles in the Halo games. If you build up enough vehicle-related Achievements across multiple games, you'll be able to nab the Vehicle Specialist Award in Waypoint.
That's all part of the Career portion of Waypoint, which is designed to give your overall Halo gameplay experience a standardized home on the Xbox 360 Dashboard. But there's also another component called Intel. When Waypoint comes up on your TV, you'll see a black screen split into a few sections. On the left is a large rectangle of space used for running video. To its right is a menu with Career and Intel (with plenty of space left for more categories). Choosing Intel brings up a list below of game trailers, Bungie VIDOCS and snippets of other Halo-related content. When the short video flashed by briefly, we caught headlines like TenTwenty, The Face of Regret, The Halo Story, and The Babysitter (the title of one of the Halo Legends anime shorts).
From the Intel section, you'll be able to access trailers, high-resolution screenshots, galleries of Halo concept art and even articles about the Halo universe from the official Bungie and Microsoft Halo vaults. This is where the Halo Legends anime will debut in streaming form, before they are available for purchase on DVD and whatever other formats Microsoft and Warner are planning.
