Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III
I thought that you could only rate things that you bought, that's what they said before the update came out.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

No, you can rate anything. It's like IMDB, anything can be rated by any member. It still all works out in the end.Comment

Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III
Except in IMDB movies can't be rated until they are released.
I like the rating system though. Also very nice that separate things like DLC can be rated separately from the game rating.Comment

Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III
well how many games does MS list on Live that aren't out yet? I understand the idea, but it's not like they'll have every unreleased game listed on there getting 5 stars and in the top rated XBLA list. Shadow Complex is pretty hyped and will likely get rated up due to popularity regardless of the rating system. I don't think allowing users to rate content they never played ruins the entire ratings system. It will still be pretty helpful to new or casual users, especially for the Indie games. Besides, the top rated lists look pretty solid to me.
I do wonder how long it takes for major publishers to get pissed off about the ratings results though.Comment

Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III
Trials came out this morning, the ratings were wiped for it FYI. I looked last night, it had like 700 ratings and 5 stars. This morning it was wiped clean.
So if they wipe games clean on release, it could basically be a hype score to a review score like OS uses.Comment

Doom II XBLA First Details
Quake Arena Arcade XBLA First DetailsThe Xbox Live version of the game will include the three original chapters of Doom II, plus a brand new episode. There was no indication as to whether or not these levels would be derived from the Master Levels or Final Doom expansions, so these should be brand new to fans of the classic. Only two levels are currently designed, however, and there were no details about how long the new chapter would be.
The game will also feature the standard 200 point XBLA achievements, and will include 4 player splitscreen play for either co-op or deathmatch modes. While deathmatch was only present on the show floor, the gameplay was quick and engaging, particularly for anyone that played the original title. There doesn't seem to be any visual enhancements to the game, so whatever the new chapter levels will feel as though they're seamlessly incorporated into the plot. There was no release date given, but additional details should be available later this year.
Gameplay footage of Quake Arena Arcade:While the original Quake III: Arena was a multiplayer only experience that allowed either network or bot play, Quake Arena Arcade will feature a single player campaign, although we weren't told what that would entail. However, we did find out that the multiplayer gameplay will be much more expanded than ever before, with 12 new maps and 33 classic maps for fans to enjoy fragging enemies. A brand new Duel Mode will be included as well for players to face off against each other to prove their skills.
Quake Arcade Arena will feature twelve arcade achievements, as well as downloadable content that will be released shortly after launch, and will be presented in 720p widescreen format. Although there wasn't a specific date revealed for the release, it will be released later this year. We'll have more on it as soon as possible.
