Halo Waypoint Gets A Release Date

The hub for all things Halo now has a release date. Microsoft has confirmed that the Halo Waypoint will become available in November, which should make it easy for fans to satisfy all their Halo needs. A tweet on the official feed reads, "Nov 5. Mark it on your calendar. That's when you will get your hands (or controllers) on Halo Waypoint."

Described as the "Halo destination," the Waypoint will feature audio and video content and the option to follow your "Halo career" by tracking which Halo games you play and which achievements you unlock, among other things.

The Waypoint will be accessible from the Xbox 360 dashboard, likely from the My Xbox section. It'll also serve as the mode of delivery for the Halo Legends anime series.

Look for it on November 5.
    Lucidity coming October 7

Set for release on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC via digital download on October 7, Lucidity is an addictive puzzle platformer set in the surreal dreamscapes of a little girl named Sofi.

In Lucidity, players take a trip into the imagination of Sofi, a young girl who is filled with a persistent desire to explore new worlds and overcome all obstacles in her way. In this challenging puzzle platform game, players are tasked with keeping Sofi safe as she drifts deeper into the strange new world of her dreams. Through quick reaction and placement of randomly generated puzzle pieces, players must create a path through beautifully detailed dreamscapes to keep Sofi in perpetual motion and deliver her to safety.

“Lucidity comes from our effort at LucasArts to form several small internal development teams and give them the creative freedom to make games that surprise, amaze and inspire,” said LucasArts President Darrell Rodriguez. “The re-imagining of The Secret of Monkey Island and the development of the all-new Lucidity are just the beginning of this effort.”

Why doesn't Netflixs put newer movies to stream from the 360 like the marketplace has? Its older movies mostly. I just did the free trial for 2 weeks just to just check out the streaming movies. It would be great thing if it had new movies.

          Lucidity Hands-on

Point-and-click adventures? Yeah, that's what LucasArts is known for. On-rails puzzle platformers? Not so much. But that's just what Lucidity is, the next effort from the team behind The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition. And from what we've played so far, the team is onto something. This is a very pretty, whimsical adventure that requires players to think fast in order to help a little girl, Sofi, traverse hazardous environments. Sofi can't be bothered to stop and smell the roses, so she'll keep on truckin' and you have to place props in her path such as spring shoes or planks of wood in order to protect her from enemies.

The left analog stick moves your current piece around the environment, and you can place it with the A button. Your next piece is indicated in the upper right corner of the screen, and you can put one piece on hold as you would a Tetris block in Tetris DS. Swarms of fireflies can be found in each level, which will restore Sofi's health if she is injured. Collect enough fireflies and you'll unlock bonus levels.

And that's basically all there is to the game. The mechanics are very simple, but since it's on-rails you don't have all the time in the world to explore and make decisions. Sofi's early adventures are a breeze but keeping her out of harm's way quickly becomes challenging. She can fall from any height without taking damage, so that's one less thing for you to worry about. Merely crossing the finish line in a level is much easier than locating all the fireflies.

LucasArts did a good job redrawing the graphics for The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, and Lucidity is another great-looking game from the team. It looks like a children's storybook set in motion. The relaxing, ambient music complements the visuals nicely, creating a curious fantasy world. The game takes place in Sofi's mind, and we all know how effed up kids are these days.

Lucidity is right around the corner: October 7. From what we've played so far, this is shaping up to be one of the prettiest and most unique XBLA releases of the year.

Lucidity is a 2D, side-scrolling "puzzle platform game" with in which the heroine, a young girl called Sophie, moves of her own accord and the player places pieces in front of her to create safe passage through an abstract dream-world. It will have 30 levels in its main story, and 15 unlockable bonus levels.
